City Streets
You had once complained about the filth that littered the streets before, if you could only see them now. And if you can't see them now, then you would be rolling over in your grave. The streets are in shambles. Glass from store fronts has been broken out, papers, merchandise, cars, and wreckage now litter the streets. That's not to mention the corpses and the stink they leave behind. Some human, some Undead. The high population of the city, prior to the outbreak, has contributed to the danger found here now.

T.J. continued out of the alley into the street and turned right, cautiously looking around every corner and moving from cover to cover. It was easier to do now a days that buildings were beginning to collapse and rubble was abundant in the now wasteland of a city. You could even find a burning car if you looked real hard, occasionally even with the driver, or whats left of them, still in it. Things like this were to be treasured in the wasteland, mostly because they resembled things of the past, forgotten days of old when everything wasn't s**t and everyone wasn't trying to turn you into s**t. As he approached the end of the block he stopped and waited, listening in the silence for the shuffling of feet. He heard nothing but the occasional shatter of broken glass being stepped on in one of the abandoned buildings, but no large groupings of footsteps. Normally this would be a calming sight, but to T.J. it just ment that they were distracted by something else, something maybe bigger and more dangerous. He was used to this sort of tension by now, so he pushed on, being careful to keep his volume to a minimum.

xxxCoopxxx Coop snatched the katana from her, and grinned. "Far away." He says, now walking at a steady pace since the cathedral was no longer in sight. "My parents owned a cabin outside town, we will go there." He says. strapping the katana his waist."Two against the world." he mumbles, as he walks close to rune. Coop seemed to be able to turn anyone against him; Thais and scar, Carson and his god, and whoever else he might encounter. But, one has chosen to stay by his side. And that one is all he needed. He pulls rune closer and kisses her forehead. "Together, we will survive, and we will bring down anyone who gets in our way." He grabs her hand and held it as they walked. The ruins around them seemed like less of an issue, and the real focus was the two. In a world of complete chaos, they found a reason to be happy. Their happiness was short lived, as a large horde of zombies suddenly appeared in front of them.

Rune closed her eyes slightly, as she felt his lips on her forehead. They shot open as she heard the horde. She whipped out her katana and ran at them with a silent war cry. She was graceful, but deadly. It was captivating. Tens of zombies fell to their final death before her blade. She wouldn't give in, she wouldn't give up. Her clothes were once again becoming blood soaked. She paid no mind to it. She kept killing, wanting them to pay for the damage they did to the planet. In her mind at that moment, nothing else existed but the horde, her blade, and her strength. "that's right!!! You're all dead!!!" she cackled, loving the power she felt as they one by one fell before her. She turned to Coop, and grinned at him, her teeth showing extremely white against the blood on her face.

xxxCoopxxx Coop watched as rune laid waste to zombie after countless zombie. He'd watched some time, never attempting to join in the assault. That was until he saw another swarm about to flank her. He unsheathes his katana and rushes forward, swiping from left to right as he reaches to group. It didn't take long for the groups numbers to reach a non threatening level. It was then that he took time to catch his breath. He looks over to rune, "We've got to get off the streets." He says, sheathing his katana, and grabbing her hand, pulling her with him off into the wilderness. "The cabin isn't that far from here, if we wait any longer to go it will be night, and those things seem to be stronger at night. We wouldn't stand a chance." As the duo meandered through the forest for what seemed like hours but was only minutes, they finally spotted the cabin. "There it is," coop points out rushing to it. The door was still locked, so it seemed no zombies could be inside. Coop grabbed the spare key from under the welcome mat, and let himself in. Exit coop to wilds

Rune killed off what was left of the zombies before running off afte Coop. It pained her to be away from him, though she didn't know why. "This cabin of yours better be safe, Coop," she said with a touch of her Marine arrogance. She quickly sheathed her katana, and followed him into the wilds obediently, with a trace of defiance and cockiness.~exit Rune to wilds~

T.J. found himself among the wreckage of the small city, quietly wandering through its streets trying to draw as little attention to himself as possible. He was headed toward the hospital, he needed more batteries and that was the only place left in town that he could think to check. They had to have some kind of power device, maybe energy cell's for some of the medical equipment, anything that still maintained energy would work. He looked up into the sky, he had been walking for a couple hours now and he had gotten a late start so he hoped it wouldn't get dark before he found what he was looking for. As he walked the abandoned city streets he clutched the revolver on his side, one hand on the handle just in case. He looked up to see the hospital in view, he stopped momentarily and crouched down next to a burned out compact car. Removing a pair of binocular he checked the exterior of the hospital for any signs of life or rather any signs of the lack thereof. He put the binoculars down back in the backpack and began moving again. His pace quickened now as his target was in view. As he walked past a small newstand he stopped to stare at the newspaper still inside. It was kind of creepy finding old newspapers like this, he couldn't help but read over the headlines. His reminiscing was shortlived however, as he turned to see what was behind him T.J. noticed a small group moving in his direction. They seemed to be pouring out of a smaller building and began hobbling toward him, the less decayed ones a bit quicker than the others. T.J. turned and began jogging toward the hospital now, his pace much faster than that of the group of walkers behind him. As he ran he noticed more of them coming out of the alleyways and openings in the run down city. His pace quickened to a full sprint, the hospital only a couple of blocks away now.

Ryan entered the city in hopes of being able to find supplies but as he looked around, his hopes weren't too high. "What a forsaken city this is." He walked down the streets of the city, keeping close to the buildings to avoid being seen. He held his weapon at the low ready just in case he needed to fight off some zombies. Ryan hoped it wouldn't come down to this, he wasn't too keen on using his precious ammo. Two hundred rounds of ammo may sound like a lot to a civilian but any soldier will tell you that two hundred rounds can only get you so far. Ryan continued down the streets quietly, slowly peering around every corner he came across. So far he found no threats. "They must have all congregated more in the middle of the city. The outskirts must hold no use for them."

As Ryan kept going past street after street, he thought about what he had on him and what he needed. The more he thought about it, the faster he realized that he didn't have a melee weapon. A knife could prove invaluable to save ammunition. "Oh the benefit of PCI's." He said under his breath. Part of what helped him think of this of course was the fact that down the street he saw the store Gander Mtn. A perfect place to acquire weapons, but unfortunately not so good a place to acquire ammunition. He made it up the street and to the store without coming across any zombies, which Ryan still found to be quite odd. He peered in through the glass door, which actually had no glass anymore. In the store he spotted his first zombie in the city, and luckily there was only one. Ryan crawled through the opening in the door and quietly moved up to the unsuspecting zombie who faced the other direction. Once there he raised his weapon high and struck the undead in the head, hard. The zombie collapsed to the floor, no longer a threat.

(Entering from the Mall) After what seemed at least an hour of hiding inside the mall, the horde had passed. Anca peeked around the streets before even opening the door. Once outside, she wrinkled her nose at the smell of decay the walkers left behind. She made her way down the streets in the direction she'd been heading before being forced into the nearest building, her fingers were clutched around the machete. Anca didn't get a chance to learn her way around the city before the outbreak, and now it was much harder. She decided she was just going to head south until she hit the highway and then beyond to the wilds.

After the zombie dropped to the floor, Ryan looked at the but stock of his weapon to see nasty pieces of zombie stuck to it. He moved over to a clothing rack and wiped the disgusting remnants on a plaid undershirt. "Alright now for what I came here for." Ryan looked around the store until his eyes came upon what he was looking for, the knife counter. He walked over to the counter of shattered glass and examined its contents. Nothing was there but iddy bitty pocket knives. Ryan hopped over the counter and looked at the cabinets underneath the counter where merchandise was actually kept in most cases. Sure enough they were still closed and locked. "Seems no one had the time to break into these, or they just weren't smart enough to realize what was here." He pointed the muzzle of his m4 at the lock and squeezed the trigger. Now that the cabinet was opened, Ryan rummaged through the merchandise until he found a knife that suited his liking.

Once he pulled out the knife he liked, he attached its casing to his belt so that he had a good place to stow it while he moved. Ryan then looked around the store to see if there was anything else he could use. After some thought he spied the camping section that would probably have some good survival supplies. There he found a good length of rope which he attached to the side of his pack the he found a thermal blanket that was left behind in one of the demonstration tents that was set up. He rolled up the blanket and tied it onto his pack with some survival cord that he found, the rest of which he stowed in one of the smaller pockets of his pack. This was a little extra weight on Ryan's back but he found it better to pack heavy and have enough than to pack light and not have enough... After having found all that he needed, Ryan proceeded to the door and left the store, back on to the corpse filled street.

Ryan was quite liking the fact that there were no zombies around at the moment. It gave him a chance to rest and eat. He looked around to double check that he was indeed alone before taking off his pack and sitting down, leaning up against a building. Ryan opened his pack and pulled out a MRE (Meal Ready to Eat). He opened up his meal and began eating some of the food, making sure not to eat it all so that he could ration it off for himself. It wasn't his favorite MRE but now wasn't a time to complain about how the food tastes. He ate his portion of the meal, his belly satisfied with the nutrients. "Now what am I to do?"

Finished with what he was going to eat, Ryan stowed the rest of his MRE into his pack. He then looked around his area and noticed a treeline at the edge of the city, not far from where he sat. "Forest. No population, no zombies? We shall see." Ryan said to himself. He stood up and put his pack on his back, making sure the mortar tube on top sat properly on the pack. Without a second thought he started off for the woods in hopes of having good cover.
