Episode I: Against the Odds
The Garlaunde Plains
The sun was shining in the beautiful lakeside. The cold wind was caressing the verdant plains and the local creatures were doing what they do best... attacking unaware travelers....
This is a short account of a certain event that occurred in these vast lakeside.

 Luneth [HP:25/25]_______________________________________________________
Luneth wandered the plains searching for a cave that was "supposedly" said to be filled with very powerful artifekts. He, as the treasure hunter he was, was determined to find it before anyone else. And so... he walked for miles...
After eight long and tiresome hours walking, he finally got to the open field. No towns or villages around. just the foliage, the creatures and himself.
"Hmm... I wonder were the cave is." He pulled out the map he won yesterday at a drinking contest (in which by the he cheated) and took looked at his right wrist, where his wrist compass pointed north. "Hmm..." He studied the map carefully, as well as the mountains in the distance and the curves on the lakeside. "Ok... so... if I'm here..." He pointed at the map. "The cave is supposed to beeee......" He rolled his eyes over the grassy tundra. "There! Behind that hill." He pointed as well.
*grrooowl*
"What tha?" He looked at his stomach.
*grrrrOOOooowl* His stomach protested.
sweatdrop "Uh... haha... ay... That's right... I haven't eaten anything in about eight hours..."
*grrooowl* "OK OK I'm coming I'm coming!! GEEZ" He quickly rolled the map and put it awas and took some rations from his pack, he opened the rations and violently horked them down. "There... that should work."
"GROOOWL*
"What you want more?" He looked at his stomach and argued with it.
"Groowl"
GROOOWL
Luneth's hairs stood on end. he felt two strange presences behind him. The swift-handed adventurer shrunk his head between his own shoulders and slowly turned around.
eek "Oh, Cosmos!"

 Coeurl x2 [HP1: 8/8][HP2: 8/8]__________________________________________________ Two Coeurls stalked him and looked hungry.... AND ready to pounce him.
"Growl..."
"GROWL..."
They both growled; though one of them seem more aggressive than the other. Namely, the one who was closer to Luneth. The sleek feline hissed and mocked him by clawing the air in front of it as if it was inviting the adventurer for a fight... with the both of them.

 Arc [HP:25/25]_______________________________________________________
Arc had a book glued to his face as always, only instead of the usual study at the library he decided today to wander around and search for an open quiet area in nature where nobody would bother him and he could just dive into his favorite written worlds of paper and ink. After a few hours searching the plains, he found a gathering of boulders and a decent shade-giving tree next to a crystal clear lake, one boulder leaned forward making it a great spot both safe and private. He set up a blanket, sat down, and JUST as he is about to flip the book open- the growling of beasts in the distance, feral by the sound of them. "Hrm, sounds like Coeurls, probably hunting prey, pretty common in this area. I'm safe up here." Arc went back to his reading when- "Oh, Cosmos!" echoed in the wind. Arc facepalms himself- "What now...? SIGH, better check out the direction of that last shout, someone might be hurt."
After crossing a short distance into a line of trees and exiting on the other side he then spots the scene: two Coeurls and a white-haired figure. He wondered if the person was armed or if he'd be ok, nevertheless he ran towards them in hopes of getting there in time to assist the lad.

"WOAH!" Luneth jumped back to keep safe distance form the two creatures. "Keep your hands... er... paws to yourself, you... cat" Luneth was never good at saying witty comments in the middle of a fight. That made him feel lame from time to time, but other times, it threw his enemies off guard. That, obviously, was not gonna be the case here.
Luneth extended both hands and they started to emit a feint white glow; markings at the back of each hand started to gleam and glow. "Didn't wanna have to do this... but... you leave me no choice." He grinned.
"Humph" he clapped his hands and the light in his hands flashed. In an instant, he had a sword in his hands. "You asked for it, I'll give you it!" Luneth gave to abrupt steps and slashed at the Coeurl's slightly extended paw.

"Graaah!!" The slash cut the felines paw. It wasn't as bad as the enemy Luneth had intended, but it was enough to pull the enemy's aggression... which... of course was bad for Luneth.
"GRAAAAAARGH!" The beast walked one step forward, closing in on Luneth and attempted to slash the freelancer's blade arm.

Arc [HP:25/25]_______________________________________________________
Arc just needed to reach minimum range to cast a spell and at least distract the second Coeurl that was starting to try and flank the white-haired man, since the other one had already been engaged. From his bestiary collections he remembered reading that these beasts were weak against ice attacks, so Arc began to close his right hand as white-blue magic began to swirl and glow into a sphere, chilling the air. He then aimed at the Coeurl and yelled as he released- "BLIZZARD!"

Coeurl #2 [HP: 4/8]__________________________________________________
"GRAAAAAGH" The spell did its trick, catching the Coeurl in right in the chest with its frozen spikes. As soon as it was hit, it started looking for the source of its attack. There it was. A scholarly looking young lad with its arm extended and apparent cold mist around the extended hand.
"Graarl" The cold Coeurl looked at its obvious enemy and snarled. Suddenly, the beast's whiskers started to crackle and gather static from the cold atmosphere. It charged the attack and released it at the young scholar with with the swing of a head.
As the whiskers waved from one side to the other, a lightning bolt shot directly at the mage.

"Ow! Stupid cat..." The Coeurl had managed to cut his blade hand a little but, just like his own attempts, it only manage to scratch his hand. "You little... ah.... HAA!!" Luneth jumped back a step. He then moved his sword over his left shoulder and pulled hard, attempting another hit on the beast. This time, however, he aimed for the chest rather than the paw.

"GRRRR" The slash landed. The feline angered. In an almost immediate action, the beast charged its jaw with lightning and went in straight for the leg.

Arc [HP:25/25]_______________________________________________________
After having launched his Blizzard attack, Arc had begun to close the distance a bit more as to be nearby the white-haired man, but enough to keep a safe range for spellcasting. The other guy seemed to be exchanging hits against the first cat fairly, until suddenly he saw the Coeurl maul the boy's leg with a lightning bite. "Darn it, no time to LOSE this game!". Having hit the beast succesfully, Arc was already expecting a retaliation from the now pissed off looking beast. He noticed the crackling sparks around it's whiskers glowing and knew well about how dangerous their attacks could be, even more so if it was high enough to cast Blaster, an ability that causes paralysis or even death to the victim.
"I haven't been studying and reading books in my life for nothing"- exclaimed Arc as he moved his glowing arms together upward, then thrust them forward with open palms yelling- "NulShock!". A transparent yellow wall appeared in front of him just as the lightning attack from his opponent reached him, completely nullifying it.
"I'm sorry, but you leave me no choice". Arc cast Blizzard once again at the Coeurl, hoping to end the encounter.

The feline looked at its opponent and sensed he would attempt to use the same attack again. It ducked then jumped to the right in order to evade the upcoming attack. And so it did. The blizzard formed right where the Coeurl was standing and it would've frozen it half to death if not that perfectly performed evasive maneuver.
Swiftly, while still in the air, the Coeurl charged a new lightning bolt and launched it straight against the young frostcaster.
