that is one very very long drawn out story, good luck finishing it
I'm wanting to get a star tattoo on my left hip closer to my pelvic bone (yes I know it's a somewhat traditional tattoo and spot) but I have a good reason.
Story:
last July (31st to be exact) I had to put my dog of 6 years to sleep, this would not have been such a traumatic experience had it been under any other circumstances.
July 29th: Mesha had jumped in the family van when mom was getting out files and she didn't notice, he's not a barker really and so nobody heard him and we couldn't see him (the van has tinted windows) and it was a 90something degree day. Nobody realised where he was and when we were about to go out to get some munchies and there he was, laying in the back, barely alive, he couldn't blink anymore because his eyes were so dry. He had been in there about 3 or 4 hours at around (+humidity) 120 F. in other words he was being baked in an oven.
He started sezing 2 days later and his body was shutting down, there was no hope, I held him while they injected the pink death directly into his heart because his veins had collapsed.
We buried him that morning, it was all over around 8:30 am, I didn't leave my room that day and I spent the next day crying my eyes out.
Why a star: I decided a long long time ago that if I -ever- got a tattoo it would be a star.
design: I have a close personal friend that is going to design the star for me, with his style of art it will definantly be something twisted and dark, my specifications is that the star is hollow and the outlines will be black.
adding to the design meaning, the close personal friend is the only person I feel I have left to turn to when I need someone, so having his art perminantly marked on my body will only add to the meaning.
design meaning: the dark outline symbolises the darkness surrounding this harsh time. the hollow spot represent the empty place that mesha left when he died.
placement meaning: It will be placed on my left hip closer to my pelvic bone because whenever I felt bad that's where mesha was, right by my side, and it was more often the left than the right and this star that represents him will be right by my side forever.
I know he was -just- a dog to so many people, but to me mesha was everything, I didn't need anything as long as he was with me so please do not leave stupid comments such as "it was just a dog"
anyone who has already done something to this idea, ie: getting a tattoo for a family member or friend, you're more than welcomed to share your story here

I have my family cross tattoo on my chest to honour my grandparents. My brother, cousin, father and uncles all have the same tattoo.
That's a sad story. I think it is a cool thing that you are getting a tattoo for the friend you lost. :)

Meat_Puppet I have my family cross tattoo on my chest to honour my grandparents. My brother, cousin, father and uncles all have the same tattoo. That's a sad story. I think it is a cool thing that you are getting a tattoo for the friend you lost. : ) that's awsome, I'd love to see the tattoo if you have any pictures
