He had stopped questioning his motives, as well as berating himself. The simple fact was..this had happened and it wasn't going to change anytime soon. Fusui had somehow ended up with another kage and a baby to watch over. Fusui nosed through some underbrush and was rewarded as a small brown thing burst out from under the snow heavy dead leaves. he slapped a paw down on it, then leaned forwards to take it in his one fanged mouth. The loss of his fang had soured him according to his looks...his fur was growing back too slowly in his tail and he was grateful none of his family would see him anytime soon. Fusui carefully gripped the wiggling form of a field mousy as he debated eating the creature himself or taking it back to the baby.

Monty had begun to worry a touch about Fusui. He'd been gone a long time. After the cerberus attack, he had become a bit jumpy and didn't like to let either the baby or the spiritual out of his sight. He stood outside for a moment, looking for the fluffier of his companions. It was snowing again. Surely Fusui would be back soon. He hated snow.

In the end, Fusui decided to take his prey back to the cave for the others to eat. Snow had begun to fall and he shook his body to keep the flakes from settling. Of course, by the time he followed his own tracks back, he had a nice coating of white on his back and ear tips. The mouse had gone still in his mouth, most likely frozen in it's terror, but he could tell it was still alive. Fusui looked up, and was slightly surprised to see Monty at the mouth of the cave.
~You should be inside where it is warm. Out of sight. What if someone saw you?~ He found himself scolding the other before he'd even gotten within ten feet of him.

"Just starting to... get too warm." He trusted Fusui, but didn't think that the other really considered him a friend just yet. Better to not make him aware of his concern. Fusui didn't seem the type to really wish for anyone to be overly concerned for his welfare. "You should shake the snow off before you go in. If it melts, you'll regret it."

Being too warm did not seem like a problem to him. Particularly in the winter. Still, Fusui did not look too far into the others reason for standing at the mouth of the cave. He started to pass Monty to get inside, though paused at his words. It made sense, so he did not feel any sort of irritation at the remark. Fusui shook himself, sending damp snow and a few water droplets scattering about.
~If it snows too much we may end up having to stay here for the winter. Drifts can get get deep and deadly if we can't find proper shelter every night.~ He found himself remarking to Monty. After he had done so, he dropped the stunned mouse on the ground and pushed it with his paw.
~I can find plenty of food in the woods. This place doesn't seem to be over hunted...so the Cerebus can not be from around here.~

"Seems like a pretty homey cave. Mjoll will be alright so long as we keep her inside and bring food for her." Monty didn't totally love the idea of staying in a cave all winter. He preferred to roam and didn't usually like being stuck in any one place. Still, he knew it would be dangerous to bring the baby out and about. He plopped down and watched Fusui get settled.

Once he had shaken as much of the snow and water that he could from his coat, Fusui collected the rodent and ambled deeper into the cave. He looked about, sniffing here and there until he found a small hole. he dropped his prey inside, and pushed a rock overtop of it. There, that would keep it trapped until Mjoll was awake and ready to eat.
~I am going to find some human dwellings later and see what I can make off with. The stone can not be comfortable to lay on and there is no brush or leaves that we can bring in that will not mildew or mold.~ He murmured to Monty. His tail gave a small swish about him and he lowered himself into a laying position.
~I am assuming you are content with the role of care giver?~

"I've never been much of hunter..." Monty hunted enough to get by, but he never enjoyed it and wasn't terribly good at it either. He didn't like the idea of leaving Mjoll's side either. At least not until she was a little more independent. The only downside was being couped up in the cave so much. "I'm fine with it for the time being. How's your tail and fang? Any improvement?" Monty stretched out where he lay. He spoke to Fusui, but he was watching Mjoll. It comforted him to see that she was exactly where he had left her.

A defining difference between the two of them. Fusui enjoyed hunting. he enjoyed stalking and catching his prey. He even enjoyed batting the bodies around afterwords. Though he was keen to keep others from seeing him do so. It was undignified.
~Then I shall be the one to provide us with prey...~ Fusui paused in adding more as he would consider Monty's own questions. His head turned and he looked at his tail. His poor once lovely tail. He resisted the urge to run his tongue over his broken fang before speaking again.
~ My tail hurts. The cold is unpleasant and rough on my wound. I am afraid it will take too long for my fur to grow back. By the time it does I will probably be shedding for my summer coat.~ Fusui lifted a paw and placed it carefully over his muzzle to hide the missing fang.~It is gone and shall not be replaced. I feel no pain though. Only humiliation for my deformity. It will be a embarrassing tale to share when asked by others on why it is gone.~

"I don't see why it has to be embarrassing. You fought a cerberus to protect an abandoned baby. I'd call that noble, not embarrassing." Monty thought he'd heard of some kage with healing powers. Perhaps they would find one that could restore Fusui's former glory. He didn't know much about those creatures. He didn't even know if it was just a story. Still, it couldn't hurt to try. He wondered if Fusui knew anything about it, but he didn't mention it. Not right now.

It was unquestionable that Monty would only see good in his actions. Saving the baby from the Cerebus was the moral thing to do. Therefor all actions that attributed to it must invariably be good. However, Fusui was still not done berating himself for even the smallest of failings. Such as the fact a wiser Kage would have trekked through the snow storm, leading the clearly mentally challenged Cerebus in a large loop that would only rejoin itself at some point. That would have confounded the bestial nemesis and ensure their safety. Still Fusui did not allow his sour disappointment in himself to taint how he treated others. At least not too much that is.
~ It is embarrassing because a wiser Kage would have known biting the beasts armored hide would have done no good. The loss of my tooth feels like a price paid for my shortsightedness. I should have used a better tactic....~ Fusui paused then shook his head.
~Should have and could have aside....all that matters is that Mjoll is safe. I will continue to protect her as best I can...though once the warmer weather rises I believe it may be in our best interest to move her far from this place. If even one of those three heads realizes the baby may not have been dealt with it will surely come back.~
