Anezka had been thinking, mostly about her future. Mother was settling alright with a new mate waiting by her side, so that was out of her mind. But what about herself? All she knew was the pride, and she loved in dearly. She had considered walking in her mother's footsteps and becoming a reaver, but she didn't have the same knack for fighting. She was no priestess either. The best option seemed to be becoming a lawspeaker, but she was hesitant to apprentice to it. Because of her family she had spent little time away from her mother's side growing up, and even when her mother was away the thrall was always with them. It was frustrating in some ways, but also comforting. Still, she knew she couldn't stay in her mother's den forever. She sighed, settling herself down at the edge of the cliffs to think.

Though Asper hadn't spent many years living with this band of brothers that called themselves the Stormborn, the time he had spent living among them was filled with constant sparring, fighting, and oftentimes winning. The young lion had come to learn that this pride was based on honor and pride, and because of that Asper had come to respect the pride immensely - despite the fact that he and his cousin had only come to the pride in search of his brother, Atheris.

Needless to say, they'd found Atheris. In a shocking turn of events, they'd also found a home among these warrior lions.

Fresh from a hearty bout of sparring, Asper found himself at the cliffs as he usually did. It was the perfect place to clear his mind, to find balance in his soul, to pray to the Gods for strength and courage. As he approached the edge of the cliffs, Asper caught sight of Anezka; he'd seen her about and knew her mother well enough as a reaver-sister.

"Anezka," he called out to her so as not to startle her.

"Asper," she said as she turned around, offering an amused smile, "You're looking... Fit." Sweaty was more the term she was thinking, but thoughts like that didn't win her any friends.

As she wasn't a reaver she wasn't usually accepted into their banter. Still, she found she enjoyed the company of reavers and captains to that of most freeborns. Many of them were much to soft for her liking, of no true benefit to the pride.

"Training has been going well I presume? Getting ready for a reaving soon?" she asked, knowing full well that most of the reavers didn't know the upper echelon's plans. At the very least her mother refused to tell her. She liked knowing though, it suited her tactical side. Perhaps she could even sneak in a few suggestions.

There would have been a time, not so long ago, that Asper might've taken offense to such a comment. Then again, Asper would never have been caught dead sparring let alone sweating. He chuckled softly and padded closer, coming to rest near her.

"Mmm, very well," he rumbled quietly, though he shook his head when she asked about an upcoming reaving. "No, no. Not that I am aware of, at least." He didn't mind being out of the loop. Asper had been in control of certain things in his life for so long that it felt nice to have certain things removed from his decision-making process. He cleared his throat and peered at her with seeking green eyes.

"What brings you to the cliffs, Anezka? Does something trouble you?" He was astute enough to know that the cliffs seemed to be where many came to pray.

"Just life," he said with a sigh, lying down so that she could put her head in her paws, "Trying to figure out what path to take." She realized it might seem like an arbitrary decision to someone who wasn't born in the pride, but it mattered to her.

She'd have to find out from some other source the pride's next movements, perhaps she'd find some pliable captain to share after a bit of mint. But for the moment it didn't matter, there was more than enough time to sort that stuff out.

"And you?" she added, deciding that if she was expected to share it would be mutual.

A slight frown twitched along his brow as he watched her speak of her troubles. He turned away as she finished, peering off into the distant sky with a soft grunt.

"I come here often to think of my brother, to ponder the path that has been laid out before me, to pray to the Gods for the strength to see things through to the end." He shrugged off-handedly, turning to gaze at her out of the corner of his eye. It was strange; they were both so young and yet it seemed that they were both troubled about their futures.

"I aspire to become a Captain at some point," he continued, turning away from her once more, "and oftentimes I come here to find balance before contemplating my future rank."

"A captain?" she asked, looking out at the waves as they crashed against the rocks, foaming up and hiding any prey from view, "Ambitious, I think the rank would suit you well, giving commands and leading the reavers to victory." She knew her mother had had similar aspirations at one point, but her past had held her back. It was still such a raw subject.

"I'd like to study the history," she admitted, "It's not the most glorious work, but we need lawspeakers to ensure the traditions of the pride." With so many rogues coming in, he and his brother included, it would be especially important.

Asper chuckled softly, shaking his blonde head.

"Ambitious, well, I suppose so. I truly only yearn to set the best path for my sons." His voice was filled with a fatherly fondness that bordered on pride. Though Resimus was the only true son he'd brought back, he'd claimed Sindri and Nitschei as his so that they could avoid living their lives out as mere Thralls. After all, they were the sons of his brother, and he wasn't about to let them be thought of anything less than Freeborn. Should they aspire for more, Asper would be there to support them no matter what.

"A lawspeaker, hmm?" Asper looked thoughtful. "There is great honor to be found within such a rank." His voice carried nothing but honesty. "Through the deeds of the lawspeakers, I have learned many things about the history of this pride."

"It's very good of you to be interested," she added, looking toward him with a new sense of respect. Not many of the rogue blooded members had an interest in the far reaching history of the pride, at least not those she had encountered.

His sons, she had nearly forgotten about that. The thought, while it made her heart skip, was somehow comforting. He had an anchor to hold him in good regard, strong sons would bolster his renown in the pride. "How are they adjusting?" she asked, trying not to pry too much, "It must be difficult, caring for them on your own." She knew his brother was involved as well, but still with no female influence and no true household ties she was concerned.
