Even though I was not born in the UK, I still hate it when I hear people mocking a British accent because my family originates from England. So, my question to you Brits is this: In Great Britain, do people attempt to make fun of us yankees? We always (excluding me, because it's offensive) make fun of the accents and culture in Britain, and I was wondering if you did the same. razz

That's the spirit! (Speaking as a Yankee myself.) I think it's a good thing if we can poke good natured fun at each other.

Having lived in both countries I have noticed that everytime an American hears a British accent they immediately think posh people. Then again when the British hear an American accent they think red neck. Oh my accent is inbetween lol so it don't bother me.

I only take the piss when quoting something a stupid American has said (not as in all Americans are stupid, as in a stupid person who happens to be American), usually it happens to be the nasally New Yorker style accent. My favourite was on some talk show (like Montel Williams or some such) a few years back when western forces were moving into Afghanistan and this woman said...
"I know nothing about Afghanistan, but speaking as a mother, I know it is full of terrorists"
And she had the most grating voice. Ugh.
Rednecks and west coast/californians just have funny stereotypes!
