the Incubi and the Succubi (called collectively here on out as Cubi) are a race of deamons from hells edge. not really evil, but not considered exactly good either, they feed off of mortals' desire and lust (yes, i know that's redundant).
this race was created soon after the Fall in places similar to Sodom and Gomorrah, where sexual deviancy ran rampant. it was inevitable that from this miasma of hormonal activity a spirit should arise to feed from it. as one should know, when a dark spirit inhabits a physical, or quasi-physical form it is called a deamon.
when these dark spirits were born in mortal bodies the Cubi were created. the Incubus is the male and has horns sprouting from his temples as either goat or ram shape, and large sweeping wings. the Succubus is the female form and she has smaller wings with a second dainty, almost decorative set of wings on her head. incidentally, in flight, this gives the male more lift and the female better maneuverability.
all Cubi possess the ability to take mortal form, thus hiding their wings and horns and blending in. mostly. they are said to be extremely attractive in the way to make the heart melt in any form.
the Cubi were given a realm close to other deamons but also close to the mortal realm, for easy feeding. after time, cities and cultures developed in this realm at hells edge and they prospered. as the Cubi realm is not quite part of the mortal realm their cities can overlap mortal cities or even exist where no city is at all, accessible by a simple step sideways through the spiritual gauntlet. for some reason the gauntlet is thinner in places of demonic, or faerie origin and so mortals are constantly falling into them.
because of their quasi-physical existence, Cubi can die of old age as well as through damage brought by a weapon, and so they must reproduce. they require mortals for this as well as for their food source, and often occurs at the same time; easily because of their method for feeding. they can take any mortal for this task and so there is also many 'races' of Cubi deamon; human, elf, dwarf, and the many species of hengeyokai.
