The year is 2014. In June 2012, Dr. David Cumberland had finally found a cure for HIV. He had mixed and converted other viruses and bacteria to concoct the long-awaited for remedy for the immune system destroyer. However, in September, things began to take a turn for the worse. Patients who had taken the medicine were slowly losing mental capacity to maintain civility. They were moody and irritable. They became gluttonous and all that energy made them restless. They wanted to run everywhere and destroy everything. They became sensitive to noise and light. It was as though they were drunk and hungover with extreme munchies. Their speech was becoming slurred or incoherent... Dr. David Cumberland had created a zombie virus.
The virus was only contagious through contact with bodily fluids like blood and saliva, but it still spread as though it was air-borne. The infected's hunger and high energy was pouring through the population like acid. By December 2013, all of the American continent had outbreaks and the military was taking violent action to stop the spread. People were being executed and quarantined. It turned out that people with full-blown AIDs were immune to the virus, but they were also dying, so it appeared the world was surely going to end.
Shelters, beginning erecting around mid-December (17 was completed in January) all over the continent were losing hope in moving out by Christmas 2013. Inhabitants were accepting more permanent residency within the sandbag walls built around already-gated communities. Civilians were not allowed to exit the shelter without strong disapproval; the trouble wasn't worth it. There were only new residents trickling in.
Shelter 17 was one of the more populated communities in Maryland. They had a grocery store with a roof that counted as a helipad for supplies. They had the most nurses and doctors present than most other shelters. They also had an murderous sociopath among them. It would often take them weeks to find out someone had gone missing, then it would look like a suicide or accident. Miltary personnel Jack(ie) Harper began to notice a trend but didn't want to excite the community; they'd most likely want to escape into the wild world of zombies than risk getting killed by one hidden murderer or else all turn on each other and prosecute an innocent loner. Notifying the rest of the military would probably put them on a manhunt and the community on edge as well. Jack(ie) had to find this killer on his own with stealth. But how?
If you've ever played Trouble in Terrorist Town or anything related, you get this story.

☢a "doctor" who will choose a citizen to save in a manner of ways from death
☢a killer who'll find moments to kill an unsuspecting citizen (with a particular motive or without; roleplayer's choice)
☢victims! Regular civilians who will just live their lives inside this heavily gated and military-present
I'm imagining that in order to begin, we would need at least six citizens.... The doctor role might end up being omitted because I'm not sure how one would save someone they didn't know they were saving.

All roleplayers need to be excellent at not god-modding etc. The killer's kills will take place in public sight of the roleplayers, but not the characters (if the writer is a good one). The detective will be sleuthing for us all to read, but for no one to notice unless he sucks at sleuthing secretively or a super suspicious civilian comes along (who knows, maybe he'll get a sidekick.) Your characters will need to remain oblivious to the malicious actions of the murderer and to make it fun they should all seem a little sketchy.
You can have as many civilian characters as you can manage, but if you are one of the special characters, you can't because your character certainly won't die. Roleplayers with civilian characters should be willing to let their characters die; the killer's controller should know of ways to hide his evidence.

All first characters will have already lived in the shelter. Characters after the first wave have the option of entering through the gates or being a current resident. There's a definite sound heard throughout the community (unless someone's in the shower or mowing their lawn) that lets everyone know that a new neighbor has entered. It's a semi-big event.
