The year starts on the Hogwarts Express. Meet others in your house, make new friends (or perhaps enemies). Through the windows, all you can see is a green blur of trees that you are passing at high speeds.
This is an introductory thing. You don't have to start here.

Enid sat in an empty compartment, ready for a new year at Hogwarts. She sighed.
"Well, the summer was a nice break, but I have to crack down this year if I'm going to work for St. Mungos..." she said to herself.

Peeking her head out of her compartment, her large eyes staring at nothing in particaluar. Her hand was dancing among her hair, pushing her bangs back towards the edges of her face. Her mouth, with her thin lips, lay open sucking in air since her nose couldn't. She had been sick for the past week before going back to Hogwarts, and her nose was still stuffed up. She'd go straight to the hospital wing as soon as she got to School. Even if she had to miss the Sorting Hats song; she never really liked the sorting anyways.

How joyful, to be sitting alone in a small, hot, and stuffy compartment for some hours or so. Atticus Cole was currently enjoying this scene, on her way to her sixth year of attending the school of Hogwarts.
She shifted uncomfortably in her seat and bit her lip, tugging at the lip ring around her thin, pink lips. The Ravenclaw's pink bangs had stuck to her forehead and went over her green eyes fromt he result of heat, but she did nothing to move them out of the way.

"I suppose I could open a window," she muttered to herself, already crawling across the seats to get to a window. She reached one after straining excercise of going across the compartment, and pushed it outward.

Ah-- A fresh breeze of wind come flying into her face, leaving it cool and relaxed. The freshness of the wind had come into her lone compartment and it felt good. But was this good enough for her? No. There was still a few more hours to go until she reached the school, and she couldn't stand it being alone. So the girl heaved her black bookbag over a shoulder and headed out.

Once into the halls of the train, the noise of chatter from other students instantly reached her ears. Atticus of course wanted to be part of this, but her school friends were no where to be found. At a desperate moment, meeting new people wouldn't be so bad. Atticus wandered around the compartments, giving the others a small smile on her lips, hoping that maybe someone would give her an invite to come and sit with them.

Placing her hand down on the doors edge, her long fingers curling around the door frame. With a quick pull of the door she opened it slightly, still staring at the place she had been. Her face held a timid look mixed with confusion.

She slipped out of the compartment in the halls. She was very nervous about being on a train, seeing as it's one of her greatess fear, she didn't want to stay still, or she couldn't say still. The train rattled along the tracks, puffing along the trails set for it. She hated the rattling, it just never ceased.

Once in the hallway, the train swaying, she walk down towards the end. She was hungry and wondering where the trolly lady could be.

'Where the bloody hell is she, I'd rahter not eat the food my grandmother packed. It always smells of a burnt oven and taste even worse.' she thought.

It was such a hot day and beads of sweat lay on her forehead. When she reached the end of the hall she turned back to leave. She never felt right walking on something that was moving; the train was still rattling along giving her the feel of being ill. She always got dizzy on long rides, mostly from motion sickness but some of what she was feeling now was from the flu she'd had ealier that week.

Her feet turned inward like they always are, she stood there a moment. Waiting for the dizzyness to lift before she made her way back. Placing one foot in front of another she decied that it would better for her to sit down in her compartment. Her hand dancing within her hair again, usually a sign that she's scared, nervous, or stress, she didn't notice when her left foot decied to rage war on the other. She triped her way down the hall until she fell three doors away from her own compartment.

Emilia was pleased to see everyone. It had been a drastically long summer. She peeked into a compartment. Nobody. She decided to stay out in the corridor.

A girl with a pink fringe stuck to her forehead (God, it was hot!) was walking along, all alone. What was her name again? Ah yes! Atticus Cole. Sixth year Ravenclaw. Emilia didn't know whether or not she were friendly but, no one ever got anywhere without trying.

"Hello, would you like to share a compartment?" I asked pleasantly. "I noticed you were alone; I hope I'm not intruding..."

Enid, although by herself in the compartment, found herself feeling very stuffy, and slightly clausterphobic. She secured all of her items and wrenched the window downwards. The air was being sucked out of the compartment, and it drastically cooled down.

Atticus blinked her large eyes as they stared at nothing down the hall of the train. Her long eyelashes fluttered as someone in a nearby compartment also opened a window and let some wind in. The cool pressed on her again and she breathed a heave of air. The feeling of freshness again calmed her throughout her thin, tall self.

The Ravenclaw broke out of her wonder, and came back tot her senses with the chatter of the students around. She heaved another sigh. Such loneliness she felt inside of her! Where were her school friends? What if-- By Jove, she hoped this wasn't true-- something had happened to them, and she was now doomed to a lone year in Hogwarts? A spark of fear of rejection burst from inside, and Atticus grabbed her stomach. If that were true, it would be no good. At all. She was a shy one, and her image didn't make things better. Not many would be eager to meet someone of colored hair and a lip piercing.

She shook her head of disapproval-- maybe her mind was just running off again. She'd eventually ( and hopefully ) catch up with her friends later. But for now, she'd have to go on with other people. The realistic part of her wild thoughts. Luckily, she didn't have to look far for a new acquantince and company. A girl, somewhat her own age, had invited her to sit with her. Atticus smiled at the girl and pushed her pink bangs aside, the sweat now beginning to evaporate, and accepted the invitation with great gratitude.

"Sure," she answered happily, though with a soft voice as she crawled into the first empty room she'd seen. Motioning the other to come in, she took a seat herself near the window. The sights were passing quickly through the window. Her eyes went back to the girl.

"So," the Ravenclaw started, as the other sat herself down. "I'm Atticus. Atticus Cole.""Sixth year, Ravenclaw in Hogwarts." she stated with a big hint of pride in her low voice. Her eyes kept at the other, waiting for her introduction.

So maybe it wasn't hard to communicate with others as I thought.
The statement appeared in her mind with a small showing of a smile on her lips.
Even if she had started it and come up to me.

The wind blew cool in Enid's hair and face. Her hair became puffed up and messy. Her cat mewed as the wind flew through his fur.

"Well, it's been a nice ride so far, hasn't it Slaw?" she said petting the grey and white kitten.
But it seemed she said it at just the wrong moment. The train jostled after her sentance. The door jumped open and she fell out of her chair. When she picked herself up, Slaw was at the door.

"Oh come back here, I don't need to be chasing you all this year." she said. And then again, her words turned on her, and the cat jet out of the compartment.
"Dammit..." she growled, lurking after him. He was darting in and out of nearby compartments, climbing up the walls, and running about everywhere.

She sat across from Atticus. What a peculiar name. It had a wonderful ring to it. Emilia looked at her, realizing that she was being rude. She held out her hand and--

"Emilia Cameron. I'm a fifth year. Blasted OWLs," I muttered. "I'm in Hufflepuff, by the way. It's probably because I'm half-blood. My mum is a Celtic witch. I've never been to Britain before, though. My muggle dad's an American."

Wow, was it just her, or did her thick Midwestern accent sound twangy and dull?

Cassie walked down the train with her black cat Led Zep bobbing along on her head trying to say on. She had her robes on already so people couldn't see the outfit her mother had forced her to wear to show "family pride" She walked along the train looking for people she knew from the previous years. When she couldn't she moved into an empty carrage and took a book from her bag and started reading, hoping someone would come say hi soon.

Chris walked down the train dragging his luggage and things behind him. He was carrying his cat, Duffy. He looked for an empty compartment or a friend to sit by.
