Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you know any good ways to quit smoking. I need to stop really soon, but it has been a bit of a challenge to because everyone I live with smokes as well, so there are always 3 or 4 packs lying around on tables and counters.... Some people suggested going on a nicotine patch, but I don't think that it will work because there are a lot more chemicals in cigarettes to become addicted to than just the nicotine. Any ideas from you guys?

There isn't much aside from the gum, which my boyfriend says tastes awful, and the patch, which doesn't always help. But, the actual cravings and nic fits are caused by the nicotine, so if you can halt those, it becomes easier to stop. My boyfriend's smokes a lot, he switched to those nasty cheap "cigars" called Smoker's Best, he doesn't smoke as much as he use to now, plus we don't spend as much a month on expensive cigarettes.
You could also always try hypnosis treatment, or see if there is anything more intensive that requires a prescription.

I suppose I could try the patch whether I think it will work or not. I just have to smoking soon altogether. I have been getting heart palpitations whenever I pick up a cigarette and they are becoming rather painful. On top of the I got sports asthma from it, and I feel tired unless I smoke.

My friend does the electronic cigs. There are battery powered and use water vapor. You can still smoke regular cigs, but replace one or two a day wqith the electronic one, and then replace more as time goes on. I've heard it helps you stop, not sure how but it takes like three months.

Picked up a sample electronic cig. today and WOW. That thing hits incredibly strong. I'd say one or two hits of that are equal to one normal cig. That was a lot more than what I was expecting from it. And the best part is no chest pains or heart palpitations.
Thanks for the tip Hydro.
