*** Welcome Everyone to Mountain View High School!!!! ***

A medium sized high school in a town about 16 miles away from the nearest Ski Resort and about 4 hours away from the beach. Students that go here have many different personalities. We have 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade classes. Our campus has three different buildings and half a mile of beautiful grounds and fields. The first building by the student parking lot is the main school building, which is two stories with an additional basement. The second building next to the staff parking lot is the main offices. The third building on our campus is the gym and student recreation building. Beyond that is the baseball/softball fields, the soccer fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, and of course the football field. (All students that participate in sports will have practices for half of their Physical Education period and after school on chosen days).

Height: 5'5"
Weight: 120lbs
Grade: 9th
Class Schedule:

Elective Career Training - 6th Period 2/2
Physical Education Advanced Girls - 4th Period 2/2
Homeroom - 5th Period 2/2

Interests:

Cortney enjoys flirting and kissing, she loves manicures and pedicures along with going to the spa. Cortney loves cheer leading and physical fitness classes. Cortney's favorite thing to do is to hang out with her two (three counting Bliss but she usually doesn't) best friends. Cortney doesn’t get the good grades like her friends, she averages with D’s and F’s without help from Sage or Vivienne.

Song: Kesha - Your Love Is My Drug

Back Story:

Cortney is the oldest of 3 children. She has a twelve year old sister and a fourteen year old brother. Cortney usually has at least 2 “boyfriends” a week. But usually she just hooks up with the same guys over and over again. This particular behavior bugs Bliss to death. Bliss and Cortney are complete opposites on everything. Sage on the other hand was more like Cortney. She was much more girly, and feminine. Cortney always preferred Sage on everything. But like everyone else, Cortney absolutely loved Vivienne. She and Vivienne agreed on almost everything. Vivienne just was the perfect friend to everyone, and Cortney loved her like a sister.

Song: Pink - Raise Your Glass

Interests:
Bliss loves to listen to hard rock music and dance around. She’s got a ton of energy that she likes to put to use. She gets okay grades mostly C’s and B’s. School to her is more like just a weird experience that everybody has to have.

Back Story:

Bliss is the youngest of two girls. Her older sister is twenty-two years old and already has a husband of her own. Bliss is more into punk style and rock and roll music. She likes to bounce around and get aggressive, but around Vivienne she's a total sweetheart. Bliss get along pretty well with Sage, but absolutely hates Cortney. But Bliss loves Vivienne like she was her sister.

Weight: 125lbs
Grade: 9th
Class Schedule:

Math - Honors 3rd Period

AV Club and Courses - After School Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Physical Education - 6th Period 2/2
Lunch - 5th Period 1/2
Homeroom - 5th Period 2/2

Interests:
Sage loves to read and study. Even during summer vacation she will get higher grade level text books from the Library and read them. Sage prefers Cortney to Bliss and Vivienne. But if she had to choose between Bliss and Vivienne she would pick Bliss, just because Sage is incredibly jealous of Vivienne even if she still thinks of her as a best friend and sister.

Song: KT Tunstall - Suddenly I See

Back Story:

Sage is the only child of two wealthy company owners. Sage usually gets what she wants but she isn't spoiled. Like Cortney Sage is VERY fond of boys, but she's not as straight forward like Cortney, she prefers observing from a distance. Sage is closest with Cortney. But she still loves Bliss and Vivienne. She just doesn't like Vivienne as much because she's so jealous of her.

Vivienne Industrix

User Image

Name: Vivienne Industrix (A.K.A Vivi)
Age: 15
Grade: 9th
Birthday: September 10th
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 105lbs
Class Schedule:

English: - Honors 1st Period
Math: - 500 2nd Period
History - Honors 7th Period
Social Studies - 200 6th Period 1/2
Science - 200 3rd Period
Foreign Languages - Russian 4th Period 1/2
Electives - Workshop 4th Period 2/2
Dance - After School - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Physical Education - Advanced Girls 6th Period 2/2
Lunch - 5th Period 1/2
Homeroom - 5th Period 2/2

Interests:
Vivienne gets along with everybody. In the junior high she was President of the Student Council (Much to Sage's displeasure), and she is friends with everyone no matter their style or personality. Vivi (As everyone calls her) is kind of interested in the boys at her school, but she prefers hanging out with Bliss to going to the Diner and seeing what high school guy comes along (Which is what Sage and Cortney do often). Vivienne loves to read, dance, sing, and hang out with her friends.

Song: Led Zeppelin - When The Levee Breaks

Back Story:
Vivienne is the youngest of 4 boys. Her mother died of cancer and HD when she was only 4 years old, and her father had the responsibility of her and her brothers. Vivi's father (Or as everybody calls him, Gunny) is a marine General who is usually gone from home during the summer and spring. Since she wasn't raised like a girl, Vivienne has always been more of a tomboy since she was born. Vivienne is the only one of her friends that has a job and that's only because her dad owns the auto body shop. Like many girls, Vivienne has a deep dark secret that only her close family knows about, the only one of her friends that knows of it is Bliss. They don't even know for sure if her secret is actually true. But they fear that Vivienne might have HD like her mother had. All of her brothers had already been tested and it had come out negative for all four. But Vivienne hasn't been tested yet. You can usually find Vivienne at the Auto Body Shop (Gunny's Auto Repair, Paint, and Furnishing), her house, the local hang out (Diner because there's no where else to hang out besides somebody's house or just on the streets), or hanging with her friends on the streets. She loves all her friends, but she's the absolute closest with Bliss.

"Come on guys....Get excited! You know, we're starting High School..." Vivienne said. She and her three best friends were sitting in her room. In 72 hours the four of them would be starting their first day of Mountain View High School.

Bliss sighed. "We only have three days Vivi. That's nothing to celebrate about....I thought we were going to the beach....You know....What we planned like a week ago. But everyone's been busy..." She said. She was sitting on Vivi's bed with her. While Sage and Cortney were sitting in her bean bag chairs. Bliss laid back and sighed again.

Sage looked at them. "We could still go...But we'd probably need one of your brothers to take us..." She said to Vivi. "But we still can go before school starts..."

Vivi nodded. "Yeah I think they could do that..." She said laying back on her bed next to Bliss.

Cortney had stood. She walked over to Vivi's mirror and put some lip gloss on. "Yeah...We should like totally go. Because I've had such a dry summer. Absolutely no guys interested. Maybe I can hook up with someone at the beach..." She said ignoring the glare from Bliss.

About four hours later the four girls plus Vivi's four brothers arrived at the beach. Vivi's older brothers scattered once they got there but the four friends stuck together.

Rachael Kent
Picture
Character's Name: Rachael Dalisay Kent
Character's Age: 14
Character's Grade: 9th
Character's Class Schedule: ((I'll fill this out, I swear. But if it loiters in another window any longer, it'll never get posted.))
Character's Interests: Rachael is interested in whatever the crowd is doing at any given moment. She is scared of being alone, and because of this is open to just about anything. The one thing that she wouldn't give up for the world is playing soccer. She gets mostly B's and C's in school, no matter how much work she puts in, much to her own (and her parents') dismay.
Character's Song: “Blame It On Me” by Maria Mena
Character's Back Story: Rachael's parents divorced when she was seven and she went to live with her mother, a psychiatrist, in Atlanta. She hardly knows her father and privately blames him for the divorce; she resents having to spend weekends with him.
Unlike Riley, Rachael feels that all traditions are limiting. She identifies only as American and does not share her Filipino middle name unless she has to. She considers herself an atheist at this point in her life, unlike her father and sister. Rachael desperately wants to have friends, even to the point of acting like someone she's not. She is secretly jealous of her sister, who seems to make friends and get through school effortlessly, and insists that she dislikes her because of this.
Rachael is dreading the prospect of living with her sister and dad for seven months in an unfamiliar place. Her mother insists that it will expand her worldview to accompany her father on his sabbatical (during which time he hopes to complete a book on the purging of Catholicism during Queen Elizabeth's reign and how that affected the works of contemporary authors), but she does not see it the same way.
Character's Reply Color: Dodger blue

Riley Kent
Picture
Character's Name:  Riley Imee Kent
Character's Age: 16
Character's Grade: Junior (skipped a grade)
Character's Class Schedule: ((See Rachael.))
Character's Interests: Riley hates athletics and is a bit lazy (and also something of a klutz), unless the topic is something she's interested in. She shares her father's enthusiasm for literature, particularly Shakespeare, and is a decent actor (though she's not as passionate about it as some are). Riley cruises through school with mostly As and the very, very rare B, despite the fact that she skipped a grade in middle school at her father's urging. She doesn't take schoolwork too seriously, but she values the opportunities that will become open to her through education.
Character's Song: “The Catalyst” by Linkin Park
Character's Back Story: Riley was nine when their parents were divorced and, unlike her younger sister, she knows the reason behind it (their mother was having an affair with a married man at her office). She stayed with her father in her childhood home. She has a close relationship with her dad, despite the fact that he takes his work as an English professor very seriously and is often out of the house. She isn't really close at all to her sister or mother, though she makes efforts to connect with the former.
She takes tradition more seriously than her sister, both cultural and religious (like her father, she is a devout Christian). Riley is openly lesbian to everyone except her father, because she isn't sure entirely how he'll react. She's very rarely afraid to say what she means, though she does try to be polite as often as possible. She can get very defensive of her family and her complex beliefs and more than once has been in a fight.
Riley is looking forward to living in a new place and becoming closer to her sister during her father's sabbatical.
Character's Reply Color: Midnight blue

Rachael Kent and Riley Kent

Rachael read the email for what felt like the thousandth time. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to expand your horizons and, most importantly, have fun! Love, Mom. Hot tears threatened to spring up behind her eyes again. How could she do this? Send her off to what was practically the middle of nowhere for seven months? Weekends with her father were bad enough. This wasn't fair. None of this was fair.
Silently cursing both of her parents—Mom for shipping her off, Dad for taking this stupid sabbatical in the first place—Rachael ran a comb through her hair again and fixed her makeup. If she was going to be exiled, at least she would look human. Taking one last cursory glance in the mirror, she started towards their kitchen.

“Morning, Rache,” Riley said distractedly, watching the numbers on a microwave count down.
“Don't call me that,” Rachael muttered, irritated. She hated their names. Rachael and Riley—what on earth had their parents been thinking? Matching first letters wasn't cool for anyone, much less the two of them. She'd like to keep herself as distant from her sister as possible, thank you very much.
3...2...1... At long last, a triumphant beep sounded from the microwave. Carefully, Riley pulled the hot bowl out, clutching the rim with the very tips of her fingers. She turned around for the first time and took in her sister. “Oh. You look nice!”
“Thanks,” Rachael said grudgingly. She pulled down her favorite mug from a shelf—a ceramic one with her four-year-old handprint on it—and looked around expectantly. “What happened to the coffee maker?”
“We left it back home, and the guy renting out this house doesn't have one,” Riley told her. “There's green tea in the pantry, if you feel like getting back in touch with your cultural roots, sinta.
“I live in America. I need Starbucks, not tea.”
“We have oatmeal,” Riley offered brightly, holding up her bowl.
“That's disgusting.”
“It's maple and brown sugar flavored.”
“Still disgusting.” Rachael sighed. “So I have no coffee and I have no friends. My life is over.”
Riley, unimpressed, focused on pouring milk over her breakfast. She had managed to spill it spectacularly on more than one occasion and, while she could deal with cleaning it up, she wasn't sure if Rachael would be happy. She did want Rache to be happy here. It was the first time in years that they would live in a house together for months instead of just an odd weekend or two, and she was excited about it. So instead of making a snarky comment to her sister, she decided to make an offer. “If you'll stop being a drama queen, I'll take you to the beach, and drop by Starbucks on the way. Deal?”
“Won't Dad mind?”
“He's out today,” Riley told her. “He's off talking to somebody at the local college about disemboweling heretics.”
“That'll make for lovely dinner conversation.”
“I know, right?” Riley said, looking up at Rachael, not an ounce of sarcasm in her voice. “You know, really, it's nice to see you getting interested in history. When you were younger, you would always....” Riley's voice suddenly faded and she stared down at the countertop, watching half the milk in the carton splash over the side of the bowl. “Oops.”
Rachael sighed. “I'll clean it up. You just go get dressed, okay?” Even if she refused to admit it, she was rather looking forward to going to the beach; there might be people there. Normal people, which would be a relief after spending even a few hours with her family.
“Thank you,” Riley said, sounding relieved. She turned and ran towards her room. A few moments later, she came out in jean shorts and a tank top. Throwing a wad of clothing across the now clean countertop, she said, “Here's your swimsuit. It was in your bags.”
Rachael resisted the temptation to yell at her sister for going through her suitcases. Her desire to make it to the beach outweighed her annoyance. “Alright.” As she climbed into the passenger seat of Riley's car, she asked, “The beach isn't far from here, is it?” Surely it couldn't be too far. What sort of town didn't have any local beaches?
“Four hours,” Riley responded, having read up on the area ahead of time. She laughed at Rachael's expression. “Patience, Rache. We'll be there soon enough.”
--------------------
Even once she had a cappuccino in her hand, four hours seemed like four years to Rachael. It was a relief when they had finally made it to the coast. Leaping out of the car eagerly, she scanned the area. There were plenty of teenagers enjoying their last few days of freedom, mostly upperclassmen. She spotted a group of four girls who looked around her age. “Riley,” she said quickly. “I'll be over there, okay?” Without waiting for an answer, she ran off.
“Rache—wait—” Riley sighed and gave up. She recognized a lost cause when she saw one.
Rachael was relieved to be rid of her older sister. One obstacle down, who knows how many to go. Strolling as casually as she could over to the girls her age, Rachael rather timidly said, “Hey. What's up?”

Vivi was the first to turn around. "Hey..." She said politely. She didn't seem shy at all. She patted Bliss's shoulder.

Bliss turned around and looked at the girl. After a moment she said bluntly, "Hi...."

Cortney took off the baggy shirt she had worn over her bikini and looked at Vivi. "I'm going to go.....You know..." She said walking away.

Sage looked at the group, "I'm going with her..." She said waving.

Vivi sighed. She turned back to Rachael, "So, ignore them, what's up?" She asked with a small smile.

Bliss chuckled to herself as she watched Cortney walk up to a bunch of college guys and doing her flirtatious hair flip.

Vivi shook her head. "Oh no...They do that whenever there's guys around." Vivi said chuckling. "So where did you move from?" Vivi asked, she walked with Rachael and Bliss over to a few beach chairs.

Bliss took off her large t-shirt that she had borrowed from Vivi's older brother Jeremy. She had a dark blue and black bikini. Bliss pulled her large black sunglasses up onto her head and looked at Rachael.

"Oh, okay," Rachael said. She sounded relieved. Making a mental note not to let the two boy-crazy ones meet Riley--they wouldn't like her at all--she followed the two girls to the beach chairs. "I moved here from Atlanta," she told them. "Well, not moved, exactly. I'm only here for seven months. My dad is on sabbatical and I'm living with him for a while." Please don't ask what he's doing, please don't ask what he's doing....

Bliss looked at Rachael. "I'm Bliss....And yes that's my real name..."

"I'm Rachael," she said eagerly. "And people just call me Rachael." Blushing slightly at how stupid that must have sounded, she said, "I'm supposed to be starting at Mountain View High School soon. Do either of you go there?" Rachael knew that the school was far enough away from this beach that it would be a miracle if either of them went there, but it was worth a shot.

Bliss nodded. She looked over at Cortney, who was now lip locked with a sophomore at the local college.

"Awesome!" Rachael exclaimed. Things were beginning to look up for her now. She couldn't help but follow Bliss's eyes to where Cortney stood. Her own eyes widened a bit. Well, she moves fast. She tried to focus on what Vivi was saying. "It's been alright," she said. In truth, she hated this place so far, but she wasn't about to say that to the people who lived here. "I haven't seen a lot of it yet, though."
