He pulled a handgun out of his pocket and levelled it at Emily. Emily carefully stepped into the office.
"You don't want to shoot me," Emily said as she continued toward him.
"Why not?" the man asked.
"Because if you did your gun would be loaded," Emily said. The man went to check his gun. Emily grabbed his wrist and then hit him hard with her knee. The gun fell to the floor and the man collapsed. Emily kicked the gun away from him.
"Was his gun really empty?" Pascal's dry voice asked as they went along the walkway.
"I hope so," Emily answered, "Otherwise I might have been in actual danger of being shot."

“King Thedious demands that you stop your attack on Batend and return home,” the messenger said.
“Or what?” Proster asked, “He has no army to send after me because I lead the only fighting force he has. I am not a child that simply obeys without question. I also know that I need to feed my men and our animals. He was not willing to give me enough food to do that. I will continue my attack on Batend despite his demands to the otherwise. It he does not like it then he can come and discuss the matter with me himself.”
“King Thedious will not be happy,” the messenger’s voice had a slight menacing quality to it.
“Go return to him with what I said,” Proster said, “Otherwise, you will be my men’s next meal.” Proster pulled out his sword and put the tip against the messenger’s chest.

“There is a speed limit.” Molly informs Amy and Stacie as the others get out of the car.
“So?” Stacie shrugs it off. Amy just laughs.
“You drive slow.” Malcom neatly catches the keys and goes around to open the trunk.
Dia looks inside and grimaces. “My high school locker was neater.”
“Scary.” Amy comments.

“What’s eatin’ you?” I sit on the end of the couch nearest her, “Or is it just the whole experiment thing?”
She shrugs listlessly. “I dunno. Maybe ‘cause there ’s at least as much s**t they didn’t explain. I kinda wish you hadn’t said anythin’ ‘bout GenTech.”
“They ’ll know as soon as they do physicals. Maybe they’re not interested in genetics, but I bet they do DNA maps anyway. Even we don’t know what all Hausfell was f***in’ with.”
“I bet Hausfell didn’t really know either,” Nikki snorts derisively, “He was a f***in’ idiot. You don’t f**k with the head of a pyro.”
I chuckle. “I guarantee he’ll never do it again.”
“No s**t.”
