A husky pup named Demetrios wandered down a path in the park. He was easy to spot with his bright blue coloration and green ears, not to mention the strap on wings he always wore no matter the situation. He liked to pretend that they flapped when he ran and that he flew, not that he'd ever mention it to anyone. He looked around at the other dogs and the people walking around. Deme continued down the path he was passed by several dogs and humans that while they noticed him, gave no mind him, to them it was the pups daily walk through the park, several times a day he could be seen running to and fro through the grass. He looked out across the looking for a target to run to and back to stretch his legs and to "train" for being a sled dog. He spotted a huge tree, it was wider than he was long and was taller than any building he had ever seen. "Thats my starting point. Now where is the ending point." he said to no one in particular. He turned around until he spotted a funny looking tree. It had a branch that looked like it was broken it hung parallel to the trunk. "Thats my ending point!" He shouted with glee. He turned in the direction of the massive tree and started at a dead run.

A bright green frisbee whizzed through the air with a brightly colored husky pup hot on it's trail. His attention was focused solely on his escaped toy as he tried to catch up to it before it hit the ground. His legs were moving so quickly he appeared to be flying across the grass and he was gaining on the toy, it was dropping closer to the ground and he was just about to leap for it when he collided with something and flipped head over tail, landing on the other side of what he had collided with and rolling a few times before coming to a stop.
Dazed the young pup lifted his head and looked around, he was dizzy and the wind had been knocked from his lungs but he was alright. Looking over his shoulder at the frisbee he saw it had landed and he frowned then turned his attention back to what it was that had caused him to lose his game. At first he was confused, and thought he must be imagining things, he hadn't seen his siblings since all of them had found new homes but a quick sniff told him that his eyes were right. Rising to his paws Nanook rushed over to his brother, tail wagging and eyes lit with excitement. "Deme! Hi!"

Deme had been running, now he was on his back after being plowed in to by an unknown object. He laid there dazed trying to think of what hit him. All he could recall was running to the huge tree that was no longer in front of him. Then his vision turning as he was hit then tumbling on to his back. He finally got up and shook off dust that had stuck to his fur. He looked around for what had hit him. He couldn't see an object, but he did see a welcomed site. His brother, or at least it looked like his brother. His ears perked when his brother's look a like said his name. "Nano is that you?" He wagged his tail at his brother. "What have you been up to lately?" He was glad to see his brother after so long. He hadn't seen any of his siblings since he was adopted. "Have you seen any of the others?" He inquired. He didn't know if Nanook had it like him away from the city most of the time or if it was different for him.

Nanook was very excited to have found his brother at the park. He had begun to wonder if he would ever see any of his family again and now that he had found Deme he was content to know that they hadn't just vanished. "I've just been playing, and I finished my obedience training a few weeks ago. I was the best in the class..."
The question that Deme raised however made him frown, so Deme hadn't seen any of their other siblings either. "No, I haven't seen them, I live out in the country I only come to the park once a week." Inside his mind Nanook was forming a plan to come into town more often and begin to search for his siblings, he was worried about how they were doing. "What have you been doing? Anything exciting?"

Deme looked at his brother as he spoke of being the top in his obedience class. "Thats great that you were the best. I finished a few days ago. I wasn't the best, nor was I the worst...."
His heart sank that Nanook hadn't seen any of their siblings. "Oh, you live out side the city limits too? My owner lives out near the farms, I only get to come to the city about 2 to 3 days out of the week." Deme was hoping that this wouldn't be the only time of finding his brother. "Well, I guess its been a little exciting I met an adult sled dog not to long ago. He wasn't very nice, he laughed at the wings our mama gave me. He also said that if I keep them I won't get very far as a sled dog. Deme still remembered the older dog ridiculing him just because he didn't want to give up the only thing that reminds him of his mother. He had a frown painted on his face and sadness clouding his eyes just by remembering that incident.

The smile that had been lighting up Nanook's face turned to a scowl when he heard about the other dog his brother had encountered. "Don't listen to him Deme, we'll both be excellent sled dogs when we grow up, he is probably just jealous of you." An attempt to cheer up his brother was great but Nanook had a feeling that words wouldn't make much of a difference and so he tried to change the subject as well.
"My owner has a house with huge fields all around it, he trains dogs for sledding, racing, agility and fly ball. I think that racing and fly ball are silly but I practice with the agility dogs sometimes." A curious glance lingered on his brother's face, would Nanook succeed in distracting him from the memory he was so upset about?

His ears perked then drooped nearly at the same interval. He listened to his brother carefully while his eyes dropped to the ground."I hope we are, I guess our future is up in the air, and if he is jealous I don't like that either. I don't want anyone to be jealous of me." He looked up at his brother as he changed the subject.
"Oh, really!" His tail wagged, "That place sounds great! My owner trains mostly sled dogs and service dogs its strange to watch the training the service dogs go through. They have to learn how to open doors and fetch remotes. Its really cool. I bet your faster than the agility and silly race dogs." He completely forgot about the other subject entirely. He was back to grinning and being excited.

When it appeared his brother had cheered up Nanook's demeanor changed entirely as well. His tail wagged and his ears perked up, a brilliant gleam lit his eyes. "Service dogs huh? Sounds kind of boring to me, just fetching items and opening doors? What about exploring the outdoors and going places no dog has gone before?" He trailed off into a silent musing in his own mind wondering how dogs could possibly content living their lives permanently in the midst of human society, didn't their instincts call to them and try to lure them into the wild?
"The racing dogs are super fast but I can outlast them for distance, and if there are obstacles in the way they have no chance of beating me, they are used to running on the dirt track out back, a huge flat oval, I don't understand how they can be so proud of themselves. Just because they're the fastest doesn't make them the best. The agility dogs are really friendly though, they always let me join in with them and sometimes they come for runs with me out in the woods when I do my own training." Nanook found himself wondering if there was a way that he could get his owner to allow Deme to come visit sometimes and train with him at home. He realized that the biggest problem would be getting his owner and Deme's owner to meet, and get along.

He listened to his brother. He quirked his head to the side when he said what the service dogs seemed boring to him. Deme smiled and said "Oh they just don't do simple things like that. Some are trained to to watch for danger when their "partner" can not. Some also are there to give support and to help their partners heal, mostly the ones my owner trains are seeing-eye dogs and..." He looked perplexed like he was trying to find the right word. " Sie, sei, seizue, oh thats right seizure response dogs. They help by alerting when their partners are having a seizure... In fact a little girl came was given one of the better trained seizure response dogs, they also help by moving dangerous objects away from their helpless partner and by keeping them from hurting themselves. His ears drooped when he thought of the little girl with the seizure problem, but instantly perked when his brother started talking again.
He laughed, " A flat oval with nothing to jump over? Whats the point? There's nothing fun about that. Running around hills that have logs, stones, rivers, trees, and sometimes huge holes to dodge is a lot more fun. That must really be interesting for them to join you on runs through the woods. Its nice of them to be nice to you." He smiled big and bright, he was picturing his brother and the unnamed racing dogs running through a dense forest and having the race dogs be tripped up by an unseen change in the course. He wanted to race against them to see how fast they really were. He also wanted to race his brother. He wanted to see if he was still the fastest of their siblings.

An enlightened look crossed over Nanook's face as his brother spoke of seizure response dogs and the little girl who had needed one. "Really? I never realized there were dogs that did that sort of thing. I hope that little girl gets along alright. Young humans are always so nice." After pausing a moment to collect his thoughts he grinned at his brother with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"It's a lot of fun and it's nice to have friends there, made it easier to adjust. Hey, Deme, how much training have you been doing since you went to your new home?" he asked the question as casually as he could but already he could feel his muscles coiling, ready to spring into motion and launch him across the park. Racing had always been one of their favorite pastimes and Nanook wondered if he would finally be able to beat his brother in a match.

Demi nodded at his brothers words. "Yeah, there are all sorts of service dogs out there that do all sorts of things. I think she will. The dog that became her partner really became attached to her. They come by the house every two weeks for a "check up" to see how the dog and person are fairing. The girl was really happy the last time I saw her." He grinned, he liked seeing others happy.
His ears perked when Nano asked about his training. "A lot actually, my owner says I'll either be a swing or a wheel dog when my training is done. Its really interesting to pull a mock sled from the back or from the front. The team we train with is mostly my owners other dogs. The older service dogs say he does it to keep us all in shape, when we run as a team, and to train the trainees." He cocked his head to the right a little. "Why? Want to have a race?" He tensed in anticipation, he had been out and about running with his wings on so he could get used to the drag they created. So far out of the others he was running and keeping pace with the wings on his back. He was surprised that his owner let him have his wings on during practice. Seeing as the other trainers at the agility center didn't like it when he wore his wings, but he guessed it was to prove the others that they were wrong about his newest trainee.
