Opening: The year is 2030, all of humanity is in an uproar over the New United Nations decision to cease nuclear warfare in the Soviet Union or New Russia now. It is World War 3 and half the population of earth has diminished. Re-industrialization has taken place and everyone is uneasy. Total corruption is the social norm and now signs of the apocalypse is at hand. Archangels have taken refuge on earth and Lucifer's army grows uncontrollably more untouchable. The few remaining cities that remain around the globe are now each protected by these angels who don't socialize but constantly stay vigilante. Because of their biased opinion of humans, Angels treat them as pets keeping them close to home and unaware of future plans. Among the rubble of the broken cities new inhabitants take refuge, Lycan's and vampires rule the vast desert and kill to survive (Their world also being threatened). A cloaked being walks up to one of these desolate cities hoping to get a room for the night.

Rokai starts walking into the broken down pub, shady looks coming from the clientele. The bartender becomes uneasy as Rokai approaches and signals him to stop. "You know stranger, people could get the wrong idea about a man covered in cloth and smelling of fine human wine." Rokai stairs at the bartender looking to see if the Fat vampire will react. He pulls his cloak down teasing the bartender with his slow movements. "Is this better?" says Rokai vacant of any emotional response. "Look, I am looking for a room and some Human wine, can you accommodate me or what?" The bartender looks at him quickly recognizing the painful stare of the man standing in front of him. "Rokai, I didn't realize it was you, please forgive my abrupt behavior sir." The bartender stumbled quickly to the next room trying not show his fear based on the rumors of the man's uncanny thirst for blood not of human decent. He grabbed a key from the wall and quickly returned to the counter now unaware of his shaking legs. "Here you go Rokai, it's the best room I got, just please don't chase off my customers." The bartender although afraid, was a jackal and would rather die for a gold piece, then give up his clientele. The rest of bar looked at Rokai, frozen by the emptiness this man showed. The music playing was classical; smooth and vivid, painting a story in the mind's of those who listened. Rokai headed to his room, ignoring the music and ready to get what little sleep he could.

A blue haired girl with skin as pale as the moon sat at the bar, her head resting on the counter with her eyes closed. She appeared to be asleep. The girl looked human, but smelled strongly of something else. Opening her eyes halfway, she watched the barkeep and the strange man talk, their voices stirring her from her rest. The barkeep was uneasy, and she could sense the looks that everyone else was giving him without even looking up. What a weird guy, she thought, sighing and stretching as he walked away. There was a half empty glass in front of her. She must have fallen asleep before drinking the rest of it. She finished off the glass, keeping her eyes on the man's back. Maybe he'll stir up a bit of excitement, things have gotten a little dull for me lately.
"That was a nice nap," she gave a groggy, yet flirty smile to the bartender. "How about another drink while you tell me a little about your friend there," she said through a yawn, rubbing her eyes, "He looks like an interesting fella."

The night passed slow as he stared into the vast empty wasteland; by this time the sand storms had stopped leaving nothing but the copper image and the red sun's shuttering eye. "I have been wandering for three days now, and I have yet to get even a clue about this succubus that man back in Grendelle mentioned." Rokai continued to ponder the steps he had taken up to this point. His silver eyes reflecting every ray of light as if the light was an unwanted friend. Soon night had fallen and the man's eyes went from silver to a hell fire red. His eyes finally closed to the sound of the wolf's hymn.

You could see him sleeping with his blade; Rokai never slept without his blade, making him a hazard to the people around for fear he would start sleepwalking. Since he was well versed in the arts, people had heard tall tales of his little habit of lashing about in his sleeping fist form. Rokai awoke to the sound of hammers slamming at the pavement, his eyes slowly rolling towards the old window gazing towards the emptiness of the desert. He got up and dressed quickly, he didn't want to stir anyone and proceeded to go downstairs to the barkeep. "Morning Rokai sir!" the bartender said looking very upbeat for a man struck by fear just the night before. "Anything unusual happen last night that I should know about?" Rokai still vacant of any decor or solace. The barkeep who was wiping the glass clean shook his head in discontent, he was sure nothing unusual had stirred. " You know actually now that I think about it..." the bartender realizing he had seen something and proceeded to inform his client of the night's proceedings. "A girl came in but she wasn't the only one; a cute little thing was here pounding away at the beverages, made me a lot of gold." The man smiled as if he had hit his jackpot and was pondering retirement. "The woman what did she look like?" Rokai became seemingly interested about the barkeep's info and was determined to get more details. "who the girl at the bar?" the barkeep not reading into what had just taken place in the conversation. "No you fool the woman who came in!" Rokai's patience slowly wearing thin by the lack of intelligence the man portrayed. "Oh sorry sir I was kind of daydreaming wasn't I? Yeah I saw a very beautiful woman walk in and she was not human either, of course if she was she would already be dead now wouldn't she?" The man laughed at the joke as if the idea of a human walking in would be un heard of. "No she smelled real nice and was amazing looking although I could not tell for sure because she was cloaked." The man kept talking and Rokai listened for any clues leading to an i.d. of the woman. " The weird part was the woman did not want anything, she just stared straight at the ceiling and began to smile as if something was there that she had been longing for." The bartender talked as if he knew himself of such feelings, his hand placing the glass down and gesturing as if he was giving a speech. "Was the woman wearing an earring like this one?" Rokai said as he pointed to the earring that hung from his cold ear. "Well I don't know for sure sir but it kind of looked like that. Actually, yeah most definitely! The earring was exactly like that. She proceeded to bottom of the steps leading up to the rooms but then suddenly stopped. She looked disturbed about something and left, looking back one more time before she took off. Boy was she a looker!" The bartender got a fantastically goofy look on his face and then proceeded to shake it off and continue on with his work. Rokai's eyes quickly came to clarity as the woman who rolled in was described as the woman who could possibly answer his questions.

Mai woke up in the one of the rooms, she must have brought there by somebody last night. She couldn't remember much about the conversation with the bartender the night before, but she did remember slamming down a good number more of drinks. She rolled out of the bed slowly, feeling less horrible than she thought she would. The human form she stayed in just wasn't as tollerant to alcohol as her true form, though it did help her blend.
Running her fingers through her messy her hair to quickly streighten it, she grabbed her bag and the room key off of the nightstand. Everything her bag still seemed to be there, and she still had all of her weapons on her. Strange that someone would move her to a room and not try to take anything.
It was time for her to hit the road again. She needed to get to the next city and see if anything was happening there. Or, maybe she would atleast run into a few friends. Walking into the bar with a tired look on her face, she grumbled about she wished her current form could handle liquor. "Oy, barkeep," she called, "Any idea who put me in a room last night?" She tossed him the key to the room. "I can give you money for it if it wasn't already paid for, and if I left any tab last night I can cover that to."
Mai noticed that Rokai he was talking to Rokai. "Sorry, didn't mean to interupt you mister. I remember you coming into the bar lastnight. You had most here sorta nervous. Why is that, if you don'tmind me asking?" she gave him a curious look.

He stared at her as if the woman had been following "no she couldn't have been following; her weapons are still on her and she looks like as if she just rolled out of bed", Rokai quickly analyzing the girl almost oblivious to her question. "Maybe you should ask them that ma'am, I am only passing through. I have been travelling a long distance to save what little I have left and will continue to do so until it's through." Rokai settled a little more, his eyes now fixed on the young woman, trying to gather any smell giving him a clue to her hidden agenda. "Why are you so curious if I may ask?" Rokai said now intrigued with the girl's curiosity. He started to cross his arms, tapping his finger against his elbow. His eyes squinting just a little out of habit. "Before you answer that..." Rokai added realizing he had more pressing matters "Did you see a woman in here and was she here long? I asked the barkeep, but I don't trust the vampires all to much. They are quick to swindle you, even out of your own blood." Rokai sat patiently waiting for the girl's reply.

"I saw a few women last night, had a drink with one of them, but none of them stayed long at all. Is there someone in particular you're looking for. There was a real looker that came in, maybe you're inquiring about her?" Mai shifted the bag on her shoulder, not liking the way Rokai was looking at her, "And you stop looking at me like that, I'm not hiding anything from you." She changed back into her nymph form, adjusting her hair to cover the ears that showed she had wolf demon's blood in her, "This is what I really am. I changed because I'm assuming you were trying to catch a scent and figure out if I were really human or not." She stood there with a hand on her hip, "Anyway, you wanted to know about a women?"

"This one is bold, very bold; I might be able to listen to her, the nymph's are mischievous but all in all a group of creatures geared towards good deeds," Rokai thought to himself. "I apologize for the rude reception, but in my world trust is not easy to come by. Like I said before those people can be real skid-dish as you can plainly see proving my point more. You know you would have been out of luck with them drinks had your scent been detected right? Anyway I have questions for that woman and I won't stop my search until those questions are answered. You may not believe me but my life depends on those answers." Rokai gestured one hand on top of the other, to show the urgency of his statement. "Since were asking questions, whats with the overloading of drinks, are you trying to be caught?" He looked at the woman now with a look of concern not aware of his behavior. His left brow dropped like a father scolding his son. "Your crazy if you think you can just waltz into any bar and act that way! I thought you nymph's were supposed to be more cautious than that." He shook his head and with his pointing finger and thumb began to rub his chin as if he had something on his mind. "Mind telling me why your in such a desolate place anyway?"

Mai laughed, holding her stomach, "You're scolding me? Nobody has done that in ages. Just who are you?" She could feel her hair fall away from the wolf ears and pulled it backover them again almost instinctively. She didn't like it when they were showing. "I act that way because I've been so bored lately. I'm traveling to try to find some friends, or maybe some sort of excitement. The only problem is that my friends are usually scattered in random places and move often, and excitement isn't found as easily without them." She went back into her human form, "I just found myself here early yesterday and decided to have some drinks before moving onto the next city. And if you think this is lack of caution, you should see me when I'm really having fun." She winked at him with the last statement, still finding it amusing that someone had actually reprimanded her. That hadn't even happened when she was a child.
"Anyway, you said you're looking for that woman. That means you're traveling, right?" Mai asked him, "Well, I don't supposed you'd mind if I tagged along with you for a city or two, would you? Traveling alone is starting to bother me."

Rokai got flustered by the woman's statement, his cheeks began to puff up as if to calm his frustration. He looked at her and nodded in agreement if not out of boredom he had been feeling himself. "Know this woman, these deserts are friends to no one, even I am always on my toes and these deserts are my home. I guarantee you what we face out there, makes the nine circles of hell seem like a spa resort. If your coming with, don't let the creatures around here find out your a nymph, unlike me they will drink of any fluid that runs through your veins." He moved his weapon to his hip assuring maximum mobility and began to turn to the girl again. "By the way woman, what should I call you?"

"Mai, or sexy. Whichever you prefer, but not women. Nobody calls me that," Mai held out her hand, giving him a friendly smile, "And what do I call you? I don't think Mr. Grumpy Face will ever catch on that well, so I'll need something a bit better." She knew she was only going to frustrate him further, but she did sort of want to break his serious side, if only for a moment. Having him like that all of the time would mean she would have to change her tone a bit.
"Oh, and I did visit the first three circles of hell on a field trip with my friend Mica once. She's a priestess and she had to clean some things up around a rift, I accompanied her. We just sort of ended up there while we were working," Mai shuttered, than shook the memory out of her head, "The first circle was interesting... it just got a bit scary from there." She gave him a confident look, "I've experienced a few things in my 600 years of living, I'm sure I can handle a few more experiences."

He shook her hand while glancing away and gave a snooty underlip glance at the wall behind him "The names Rokai and you can call me Rokai. I am sure that devil woman Lust was there. I swear the next time she tries to touch me I am gonna cut those tentacles right off her mutant jugs! You tell her I said that to, you hear! That maniac woman needs to be sent to the 7th and I mean 7th circle, she is just the kind of person who would soon strip a man of all his dignity then take any conversation seriously, you tell her that the next time you see her." Rokai grabbed the hilt of his blade to make it clear his intentions for the devil known as lust. He to had seen the fiery depths and even went one on one with Lucifer himself. Of course this was before they came to terms with each other at the end of Rokai's blade. He began flashing back to that moment in time when the world was stable and the war had ceased to be: "I don't know what your beef is with the big man, but leave me out of your games Luke!" Lucifer answered back with a grin on his face, pricking his finger against Rokai's blade. "Now is that any way to treat the man thoroughly interested in you, my baby brother? I am not only hurt but in awe at your distrust." Rokai ignored his statement and proceeded to question the fallen foe, "Why the hell didn't you tell me my soul was to become the vessel of the Apocalypse, you knew God would send it's goons after me and even worse is there was no warning of attack. The arrogant pigeons thought they could actually go head to head w/ the God of Chaos, it's an outrage!!" Lucifer looked away, now a serious look passed over his delusional face. "How does it feel to be the object of hate? Unlike you however, I went millenniums being hated all because I believed humanity should be saved and that I was the rightful heir to the crown of earth. All I got in return was a curse from the heavens and a place down here in this wonderful paradise, cursed to ferry and claim the souls of those lost from supposed sin. Although unlike you my soul shifts only one way, while yours...let's just say I would not want to be you right now, little brother. " Rokai's face grew impatient, his eyes squinting and his grip tightening, "You tell your beloved God I work for no one and am subject to no demands, if it wants to end me, it should do itself in all it's powerful glory that is spouted off. The only person I trust is Death himself, who has yet to lie or cheat me! If you want to be on my good side finish what you started without me." Rokai's attention quickly came to from the flash back and saw the Nymph still in front of him. "I guess we should start heading out then." Rokai opened the door as he and his new companion headed off into the dusty desert their shadows fading into the the sands.

Rokai walked with a poise much like that of a soldier, stiff straight and always looking forward. He was rarely thrown off by anything and constantly scanned the environment for something what that was unknown but he was there, in the moment ready for anything. He looked to his companion who was quite short in stature and gave an odd look at this new creature companion who was different from him in every way.

Collecting a ball of air in her hand, Mai tossed it at Rokai's face. "You know, if you keep looking like that, I'm just going to have to kiss you to get some sort of expression out of you," she seemed annoyed by his constant emotionless demeanor, "Situation awareness doesn't have to make you so rigid." She had to remind him, "And I'm a nymph, I have a connection to the wind and water spirits. If something were around, the air would tell me, so just relax."
