The dainty black doe moved with a careful sort of speed along the half-hidden trail in the murky water. Upon reaching a fallen mangrove limb she leapt atop it, taking the advantage of a spot to stop and check her bearings where she wouldn't have to risk getting stuck in the mud. The jolt nearly dislodged the owlcat that had draped himself across her shoulders and he made a shrill noise of protest. She clicked her tongue at him and rolled her eyes in exasperation. "If you're going to insist on using me for a perch then you can deal with it, Brother. You are perfectly capable of using your own legs."Her logic received a displeased hiss, which she ignored while she had a look around. After long enough without a response, however, Brother seemed further dissatisfied with his lot and started digging his claws into her shoulder. Firefox Dance made a startled cry and bucked her passenger right off her back, over the side of the fallen mangrove limb, and into the mud. A barely intelligible cacophony of screeches, bugling, hissing, and shouting ensued, punctuated by the occasional swipe of a claw or short kick of a hoof. They did this sort of thing at least once a week, but an onlooker would be unlikely to know that they just needed to finish blowing off steam before things would calm back down to normal.

He was looking for his next challenge. It wasn't much of one, but endurance was needed when following the creatures of the swamp. Not all of them, just the ones with fast legs and sharp teeth. His run was leading him towards the trickier parts of the swamp. A lot of areas that looked like hard earth underneath, but really was marsh. He had fallen into one of those before.
