Yu-Gi-Oh isn't that bad...The past episodes were slightly predictable but the later ones are much better, besides, it's fun to watch people cry because they lost a card game XD

Show's all right, but with all card games, strategy never really happens in it. It's mostly who spent the most money on cards and got freakishly lucky with the booster packs.

That doesn't make it a spin-off...
It's a different concept.
Yu-Gay-Oh is a card game, in which random people summon monsters from cards, which disappear right after. Morals? Not really. 'Bad guys*'? Constantly changing.
Po-Gay-mon? People go out and capture creatures, each with unique powers and NO STATS WHATSOEVER. Friendship with the creatures is crucial. Morals? Chock-full of 'em, no matter how cheesy they might be. Bad guys*? You can choose from any of 'em, as long as you choose Jesse and James.
*Note: I say bad guys because in Yu-Gi-Oh, they're not always bad, and in Pokemon, they don't qualify as 'villains,' since they're idiots.
