1) The Dark Knight Rises
Eight years after Batman took the fall for Two Face's crimes, a new terrorist leader, Bane, overwhelms Gotham's finest, and the Dark Knight resurfaces to protect a city that has branded him an enemy. Director: Christopher Nolan Stars: Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine “ Here's hoping this is the perfect ending to my favorite comic book hero. The Dark Knight was everything I had hoped for and then some and I expect no less for this movie. Christopher Nolan is the best working director that I could ask for to make this one of the greatest trilogies of all time. The cast is once again phenomenal, teaser trailer did exactly what it was supposed to do, and movie's main villain (Bane) looks great. By far my most anticipated movie of next summer and 2012 in general. ” - tallguy00121

2) Prometheus
A team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race. (124 mins.) Director: Ridley Scott Stars: Noomi Rapace, Logan Marshall-Green, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron “ If this movie had been released the past two summers, it would have been my #1 most anticipated movie. Ridley Scott will be returning to the sci-fi genre after nearly 30 years. This movie is set in the Alien universe, but grew into a completely original movie. More movies like this need to be put in production. This and Dark Knight Rises alone make next summer's lineup better than 2011's and 2010's. Hope the movie does well at the boxoffice so we can see more movies like this. ” - tallguy00121

3) The Avengers (already out)
Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. brings together a team of super humans to form The Avengers to help save the Earth from Loki and his army. (143 mins.) Director: Joss Whedon Stars: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner “ Now this is how you start the summer movie season. I'm really excited and worried about this movie at the same time. It has been built up very well since the first Iron Man movie. The movie has a great director and a great cast, but I am afraid that there may be too many characters in the movie. Spider-Man 3 suffered from this, but I do think this movie will not fall in the same trap. There is also a concern that the villains in the movie may disappoint. Hope we have a lot more to look forward to than Loki. I'm sure it will be a lot of fun and I think this will be my favorite Marvel movie since Iron Man. ” - tallguy00121

4) Moonrise Kingdom (already out)
A pair of young lovers flee their New England town, which causes a local search party to fan out and find them. (94 mins.) Director: Wes Anderson Stars: Jared Gilman, Kara Hayward, Bruce Willis, Bill Murray “ Wes Anderson is one of my favorite directors working today and the cast is great. This one should find a release date sometime in June or July after it is released at the Cannes Film Festival. I'm expecting good things from this one and hope this is a comeback summer for Edward Norton” - tallguy00121

5) Brave
Determined to make her own path in life, Princess Merida defies a custom that brings chaos to her kingdom. Granted one wish, Merida must rely on her bravery and her archery skills to undo a beastly curse. Director: Mark Andrews, Brenda Chapman Stars: Kelly Macdonald, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Julie Walters “ After a sequel that most people weren't really asking for, Pixar returns in 2012 with another original story. Their last 3 original movies (Ratatouille, Wall-E, and Up) were some of my favorite movies of their respected year. The teaser trailer looks good (which is unusual for a Pixar movie) and the animation look stunning. The second trailer has me a little worried, but Pixar's trailers never really sell me on their movies anyway. Still excited. ” - tallguy00121

6) Dark Shadows
An imprisoned vampire, Barnabas Collins, is set free and returns to his ancestral home, where his dysfunctional descendants are in need of his protection. (113 mins.) Director: Tim Burton Stars: Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Green, Helena Bonham Carter “ I've always wanted to see Tim Burton direct a vampire movie and who better to play a vampire than Burton's go to actor, Johnny Depp. The cast in this movie is outstanding. I'm quite confident that this should be Tim Burton's best movie in years. Hope this will be Burton going back to his roots (movies like Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and Batman). ” - tallguy00121

7) Lawless
Set in the Depression-era Franklin County, Virginia, a bootlegging gang is threatened by authorities who want a cut of their profits. Director: John Hillcoat Stars: Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, Guy Pearce, Jessica Chastain “ The movie has a good director, great cast, and the genre is one of my favorites. Hoping for a good gangster action/drama that is more memorable than recent gangster films (like Public Enemies). ” - tallguy00121

* cool Snow White and the Huntsman
In a twist to the fairy tale, the Huntsman ordered to take Snow White into the woods to be killed winds up becoming her protector and mentor in a quest to vanquish the Evil Queen. (127 mins.) Director: Rupert Sanders Stars: Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Sam Claflin “ The first trailer looks much better than I thought it would. However, things like a first time director, Kirsten Stewart having no dialog in the trailer (which might because of her performance), and the fact that there are so many fairy tale movies and 3 Snow White movies coming out next year makes this one a little hard to anticipate without some reservations. ” - tallguy00121

10)The Expendables 2
Mr. Church reunites the Expendables for what should be an easy paycheck, but when one of their men is murdered on the job, their quest for revenge puts them deep in enemy territory and up against an unexpected threat. Director: Simon West Stars: Sylvester Stallone, Liam Hemsworth, Randy Couture, Jean-Claude Van Damme “ Though the last movie wasn't as good as I though it would be, it was still a lot of fun. I am still waiting for an epic clash between Stallone and Schwarzenegger. If they do that and give Willis a bigger role in the next one, this movie will easily be in my top 5 most anticipated movies of summer 2012. The addition of Jean Claude Van Dame certainly raises my anticipation. ” - tallguy00121
