Explanation for Ideas are Listed Here
Idea one ~ For the month of July a challenge will be posted. The challenge will be to post one short story (no more than 1000 but no less than 500 words) everyday of the month of July. Everyday you post you get 100 gold. If you don't post everyday that's okay, you'll still get the gold you earned from the days you do post. If you post all 31 days you get an extra 10,000 gold when it's all over. Prompts will be posted but they will only be for ideas if you get stuck, you don't have to follow them. < Winner!
Idea two ~ For the month of July contest will be posted. The contest will be to write a story or poem about your current avi (you'll have to include a picture of the avi with the entry). The story can't be less than 500 words, or more than 5,000 words. Whenever you post your entry you will get 3,000 gold and your username will be added to the voting list. At the end of the month the voting list will be posted in the poll and the guild members will get to vote for their favorites. The voting will last for 2 weeks. First place will get 50,000 gold, and second place will get 25,000 gold.
Idea three ~ For the months of July, August, and September a challenge will be held. This challenge will have 3 parts, and each part will take up one month if the challenge. I will post 2 themes to pick from at the beginning of July that you'll have to pick from to use for all three parts. The first month you will have to take that theme and write a story (500 word min, 5,000 word max), the second month you will take the theme and made a peace of art out of it (anything, as long as it's art, and can be understood and connected to the theme), and the third month you will write a poem that connects the two other peaces you did together. When you post for each month you will get 4,000 gold each time, and if you do all three you will get an extra 10,000 gold at the end of September.
Idea four ~ For the month of July a challenge will be posted. This challenge will be a tektek avi challenge. I will post a theme and you must follow that theme to create a tektek avi that matches it. You may post as many as you wish, but they all have to be noticeably connected to the theme. Every time you post a tektek avi you will get 500 gold. At the end of the month I will pick the five I think represented the theme the best and they will get 20,000 gold each. (only one tektek avi will be picked per person.)

It might not necessarily be lack of interest. To be honest, I suck at making up contests... Still, I'll see what I can contribute.
I like the idea of a challenge. Maybe something playing off the idea of "escape from all the drone of everyday life and just feel at home"?

Um... I'm not really good at coming up with stuff like this, but maybe for a challenge or something, make it last a month, and for each day they have to write something (insert minimum-maximum words here), based off a very vague prompt. I've seen a couple of those, and while they might be short and kind of silly, it opens up for a lot of people and since the prompts are vague and open to interpretation, they won't all be the same. Hope that helps!

I think I could some how combine these two ideas, but lets see if we can get more suggestions before I do so.

How about this?
A challenge where we all write a small story (500 - 4,000 words) about our Avatars. Everyone who enters gets a small prize (5,000 gold maybe?) and when the deadline is up, everyone gets to vote for their favourite entry. Lost Lady Ryssa would be the Tie Breaker, if that became a problem. Whoever wins the popularity contest gets a 'big' prize (maybe 50,000?)

Loki: I think the Avi theme contest is a nice change from typical writing challenges, though there lies the problem what to do if people can't afford to change their avis much? Of course, then would come in the creativity and resourcefulness... It's a nice way to bring in different types of creativity. biggrin
As for additional ideas... hmm, playing off Loki's idea a little, you could do a series of contests/challenges using the same theme, wherein the first stage is short story, the second a poem, the third art of some kind. Actually, it could be really fun. A three part challenge where each part must be done in a different medium but all have to relate to one another and be based off a single theme provided. For example, the theme of Hope one option is to write a story about a character needing hope, detailing the events. A poem could cover the emotional side, perhaps a look inside the character's head or someone else? And then a song picked which reflects the mood, art if they can draw, or banner for it, or any number of things.
The only problem is people might see all the variance and assume they aren't capable or it's too hard...

The biggest problem with that idea, is that it sort of assumes that everyone is proficient in story writing, poetry, and art. You might be able to find some people who would be interested, but considering how low our numbers are right now, it might make things more accessible if that was split into three smaller challenges.

Good looking avis are not decided by creativity and working with what you have. Even the lowest priced items can make an awesome looking avi. 3nodding Creativity is the key, not prices.

No, I totally agree. Most of my comment came from my own limits - I obviously lack creativity with Avis. One solution is buying lots of items rather than creatively using what you already have and can easily afford. I typically just stick to one look. I know, which is kinda sad. People could do so much more if they were willing to try, but I understand the limits. And it definitely doesn't help that we're still working on building numbers. Besides, it'd save people from my own poetic/artistic attempts.

Gosh, I really love all the free flowing brain storming going on here. I can't wait till the 17th so I can make a list for all this for everyone to vote on.

So, uh, I have a stupid idea. (what? I like research and I'm stuck in the middle of wedding plans (bridesmaid) and it's June, okay?)
Write about a wedding from the point of view of somebody working and/or planning it. Not the bride or the groom; it's their vision but in my experience they don't do a lot of the work.
For example, I might write about how the wedding was beautiful, but Jess rejected the flowers fourteen times because they weren't perfect and we almost didn't have caterers at all because Sean pissed them off. Twice.
I told you it was a stupid idea.

Seems like someone just needed to vent. 3nodding That would be an interesting prompt or something but maybe not for a whole contest/challenge, or at least not right now.

It would be interesting to have a challenge where you take big events, like a wedding, graduation, birth, or even death and write about them. Only, instead of doing it from a traditional viewpoint write from a 'minor' character or sidekick. Not that you're minor or a sidekick! But taking the unusual perspective. I think it could have interesting results - who would the writer consider to be a minor role but still invested? Here's my attempt on a spin of your idea that might be more contest/challenge appropriate. Basically, I'm generalizing it. wink
