If there was, he/she would know my family can't afford $3,000+ to pay for college just because a scholarship I have been getting for the past 3 years decided not to give it to me this year. And the the letter that said I didn't receive it this year was just some standard B.S letter because it said "Apply again next year." Well guess what, there is no next year because I'm a senior!
Let's just say I am pissed off. scream

Oh god Mich I'm sorry... Can't you appeal it? Or at least find out why they're not letting you have it this year?

The letter came yesterday so we have to wait till tomorrow to call them and ask why they decided to suddenly not give me anything.
It can't be my grades because I am getting a 3.93 on a 4.0 scale. And my extracurricular activities and leadership roles increased from the last time I applied (you have to re-apply every year).

Called them and while the secretary does not make the selections, she said this year they had half of the high school graduating class this year apply and they had to be selective... I think that is a bunch of bullshit because what entitles them to the scholarship when I have been proving to them for 3 years now that I am doing well in college when those students haven't even shown that they deserve it yet. My brother got the scholarship all four years, they never took it away from him. But nooooo I always get the short end of the stick. All the high school graduates can "reapply next year" they get 3 more chances to get it. I don't have that time and I certainly do not have the money to cover what the scholarship would have. My college raised tuition YET AGAIN by about $2,000. My mother is unemployed, has been looking for a job for over a year now (and applying to jobs she is WELL overqualified for, i.e. those that only require a high school diploma and GED when she went to college and has a degree) and my father is collecting Social Security. I think I plenty ******** well deserve this scholarship. Their reason for not giving it to me this year, my final year, is a bunch of nonsense. You support the students you have been supporting, especially those from low-income, not give it to those who haven't even experienced college yet.
Needless to say, I am pissed off, disheartened, and not looking at life very kindly.

That's bullshit! scream
Don't give up until you've no other choice. Hound the ******** out of them! You absolutely deserve the scholarship. And when you're not hounding them, look into grants and loans. The loan road is scary and unpleasant but you're so close, honey.
My heart goes out to you. heart

I'm backing up Felly on this one. That is a load of toss! You have good grades and are most likely to graduate. Most of those highschool applicants are probably going to drop out. You deserve this and you're so close you can't give it up.

I've already applied for other scholarships. I won't get an official bill from my college until next month. It isn't showing yet that they have looked at my special circumstance forms (saying one parent is unemployed and the other on S.S) so here's hoping they give me more money .
I'll be going back come hell or high water, but it is going to be a frustrating road to get there probably. neutral
I'm just trying to push it out of my mind since I don't fully know yet what the financial situation looks like. My boyfriend is coming tomorrow to stay with us for a month again so I hope that will cheer me up.

I know it's stressful *huggles* But make time to have fun. You're going to need it.
Update on father in laws health: Today major operation but the hospital hasn't told us what...waiting around for 9 hours in a hospital is not fun. Home at last tired and drained...but he's stable so fingers crossed.
