I've been running around youtube for a while, and I came across this peculiar fighter...He is a Wing Chun purist (putting aside his BJJ training so he can handle himself on the ground, in my opinion he should've tried wrestling as well, because it deeply helps get you back on your feet) trying to get himself into the MMA, which is great actually, because that really puts the Mixed into Mixed Martial Arts. We've had Gracie's try to come in with their Jiu Jitsu, we have Lyoto Machida with his Karate. And now we may have Shawn Obasi with Wing Chun, although his efforts have been met with hardships, suffering from a loss to a wrestler, in his first pro fight.

I was deeply fascinating by him, because you almost NEVER see real Wing Chun at its full potential, being used 100% in REAL combat...And we still won't...After searching though his video's this is the closest I've gotten:

I decided to put this video, and not of him losing to the wrestler, is because this is the closest to seeing him actually try to throw some punches, and what not, also I may add there is another video of him fighting some....Ehh...How do I say.....Larger opponent?...May be the polite term...But he brags about the video, but his opponent really didn't seem like he knew what he was doing so to post that in demonstration wouldn't be right.

He say's there isn't enough Kung Fu in MMA, but we have Cung Le, and he's Sanshou, which is a form of Kung Fu....Right? But I was starting to warm up to him, and his efforts to show his Martial Art to the world of MMA, until I found this video:

and I wanted to know, what do you guys think? Was this sort of, "Too much?" I mean your suppose to be humble, and respectful, but to me its hard to tell if this did more Harm to his cause than good?

The guy comes across as a deuchebag, and while I understand that the tryouts basically requiring Muay Thai it seems was a little insulting, the man was a drama queen to the maximum.

I would like to know exactly what Wing Chun Moves there are. Aside from the pulverizing fist, I have never seen any demonstrations or fights with it.

I've taken and watched all kinds of styles, but the onyl thing I know o the style is a 5 minute segment on a fight science type show, and movies like Ippman

Edit:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kD47Ckag354&feature=related

this had some good s**t. uncoventional striking and targeting. Trips and sweeps, but the body mechanic lacks power it seems. I like the leg sweeps and stomps, and space domination. A lot of this looks like other arts though, and I'm not sure how much heart is in all this.

Wow that does look good, a little choreographed, but it those are some of the moves it looks good! Though they don't do that lil stance we've all come to know from Wing Chun guys. I also found this video, they look like they're really trying, but it looks more like a street brawl than anything.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naAa8x71gBM

The problem I see here though, is that these guys are BLASTING all their energy just to take each other down, and if its a style ment for self defense in the street...Well you see the problem right? If you do all that to one guy, and then your gassed, the next guy will come along, and BAM that's it. (Not talking down about the style, I'm talking about these fighters in particular)

I know what you mean too, and all the videos of them fighting, are against people who really have no idea how to defend themselves, and that's not a martial art, that's just teaching you how to bully people, if you're going to give a demonstration of your martial arts, do it against REAL fighters. When the gracie's took BJJ, they fought anyone they could even top fighters, just to show their JJ, know what I mean?

I also saw this video, and I don't think Ladymuaythai is gonna like it...

But I didn't see a knockout, so I can't call it a win for either side.
