I've been running around youtube for a while, and I came across this peculiar fighter...He is a Wing Chun purist (putting aside his BJJ training so he can handle himself on the ground, in my opinion he should've tried wrestling as well, because it deeply helps get you back on your feet) trying to get himself into the MMA, which is great actually, because that really puts the Mixed into Mixed Martial Arts. We've had Gracie's try to come in with their Jiu Jitsu, we have Lyoto Machida with his Karate. And now we may have Shawn Obasi with Wing Chun, although his efforts have been met with hardships, suffering from a loss to a wrestler, in his first pro fight.
I was deeply fascinating by him, because you almost NEVER see real Wing Chun at its full potential, being used 100% in REAL combat...And we still won't...After searching though his video's this is the closest I've gotten:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2Nt2YSTNNAI decided to put this video, and not of him losing to the wrestler, is because this is the closest to seeing him actually try to throw some punches, and what not, also I may add there is another video of him fighting some....Ehh...How do I say.....Larger opponent?...May be the polite term...But he brags about the video, but his opponent really didn't seem like he knew what he was doing so to post that in demonstration wouldn't be right.
He say's there isn't enough Kung Fu in MMA, but we have Cung Le, and he's Sanshou, which is a form of Kung Fu....Right? But I was starting to warm up to him, and his efforts to show his Martial Art to the world of MMA, until I found this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_3F6Zwbp9Eand I wanted to know, what do you guys think? Was this sort of, "Too much?" I mean your suppose to be humble, and respectful, but to me its hard to tell if this did more Harm to his cause than good?
