Ah, the meaning of life. There's an interesting topic. The true meaning of life is derived from the experience. Unlike other things, we can feel & reflect. Items can't feel & it's impossible to tell if animals other than humans have the ability to remember & evaluate. Since every person is different, the experiences & evaluations are different, so the meaning of life varies from person to person. The most important aspect of that is what one ultimately makes of their life.

I agree with that. Some people believe their lives are part of the unchanging wheel of fate, but I think there's more to it than that. domokun

OUT of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

I believe that life is just...life. I'm religious and all...And I've thought about it a lot...Especially lately. The tsunami that his Asia was devistating. Everyone had their lives taken away in a matter of a few moments...They lost it all. I started to look at things a little differently...Not take so much for granted anymore. But, things happen in life....So when it comes down to it...I believe that life is just life. Full of great things, and also terrible things. But you have to take them both. Whether you like it or not. The ultimate meaning of life is whatever you make it to be. It's different for all people. But, either way. You should make yours count.

Gasp! He's right! Except I have yet to read the books,

Future view expected, probably tomorrow. Basically, its what you make of it, don't let yourself be controlled by the masses, public opinion, and, here's one that'll get me killed: Do not allow for a religion to be the main focus of your life. The ideals are great, but the crap fed to you is not.

Is it all right for the ideals of a religion to be the main focus of a person's life, then? Ooh, this could turn into a good Lunar 2 discussion focusing on the cult of Althena's Chosen. It's interesting to look at the characters involved in that, particularly Leo. For most of the game, he pretty much follows the Chosen with blind devotion. One instance in particular, the scene in Dalton, is proof that he's not following completely without question. He gave in to feelings of mercy, which seem to fit with the true teachings of Althena, by not immediately executing Lucia. He opened his eye for a moment, then returned to his blindness. It's not much, but it does hint at his course of action later in the game, when he realizes the way of the Chosen is not the way of Althena.

Sorry about the rather lengthy post.

Topic #02 | The new game - What are you looking forward to and what do you expect from it? Can the general story of Lunar be taken one game further before it is "overplayed"?

An excellent question. Personally, I'd like to know more about the race Ghaleon comes from since we never really find out in the first couple of games. There's so much we don't know about him, even though he had quite a bit of development. Maybe the people he comes from have a leaning towards the actions he took. Or maybe he acted in a way completely opposite to the nature of others in his species. Who can say? I'm expecting some kind of base for the Heresey War that the Four Heroes of the first game to be built on in this installment. Ooh, or perhaps some info on Zophar & exactly why it took him so long to try his hand at doing to Lunar what he did to the Blue Star. I think, since this game takes place before the others, there's enough room to comfortably take the story further. It would be the history of the world the first game took place in. We could see the stories of the other dragonmasters. Maybe we'd get to see Vane's original take to the skies. Perhaps we can see Meribia grow from a new seaport to a bustling city. I wonder, though, how knowing what came before the other games will change how we see the Lunars we've played before...

I'm looking forward to the history before Alex's time. Heck, Quark might even be a flying cat around this time in the Lunar history. pirate

I believe Working Designs were the ones who helped Lunar become what it is in the releases over here in America. When compared to what I've played of Arc the Lad (a truly wonderful Working Designs game), I can see the similarities in the dialogue. Also, the item system vaguely resembles the one in Lunar 2 EBC. Anydangway, I don't think Working Designs is on Lunar 3. Where's that thread that said who was?

I personally can't wait to see how the story is going to develop in the new game. I know the two Lunar games that are out now gave bits and pieces into Lunar's past, but I would love to see it unfold.

True, I was always hoping that if they made another one, it would be a prequel. I never guessed it would be true!

I'm actually still iffy about the battle system. According to Lunar-Net, "The battle system in Lunar: Dragon Song is quite different from that of previous Lunar games. The biggest difference is the change from five party members to three. The combat area spans both DS screens, and enemies can appear as either grounded enemies on the bottom screen or airborne enemies on the top screen. Regular attacks won't work on airborne enemies, as you must use magic and missile type attacks to damage enemies in the air. Three commands can be used in battle by the player: Attack, Special and Item."
This may not be a bit deal to some people, but the battle system in the PS Lunar remakes were one of the things I really liked about the game. I find three character jump an' slash battles systems very boring, although I know some people may prefer them. What are all your views on that?

Oh, and..." However, unlike those earlier Lunar titles, instead of only having a limited amount of time you can dash, in Dragon Song, dashing depletes your characters HP. When your HP is at 1, you can no longer dash. When contact with an enemy occurs, the battle begins."
Hmm...I'm not sure what I think about that either. I'll have to wait until the game comes out, and see. At least there aren't going to be random battles. (Although, they are doing something weird with two types of battles. I didn't quite get the explaination, and I think it's yet another thing that will be defined better when the game actually comes out.)

The card battles? Those look odd, you use cards to fight? I didn't read all the details.

Didn't Ghaleon do what he did because he felt betrayed by Dyne and Althena? He didn't understand why she would give up her life for the humans (hey, that's like Lucia.) He felt alone and betrayed because they left him?

I hope that we get to see what's up with Zophar, how long did he wait? It was at least 2500 years, right? Probably more. I'm wondering how they're going to do magic. Only the people of Vane had magic, right? That's why they lifted themselves into the sky, to be above everyone else. Then they crashed and the magic was lost. But then was found again, somehow. I don't remember exactly what happened, but all the magic left when Althena turned back into Luna. Then it came back, and sifted through the world, possibly again?

Oh, and Ubisoft is making this one.
