Chapter Three - Exile! Stage: Middle Aged Stallion Quote: I Want You Alive •After the first appearance of his foals a dramatic event occurs when Accalon takes it upon himself to jump into a rushing river. Akuba goes to save him and is successful in securing his son but not himself and he is broken and injured.
Without the help of any unicorns the healing process for him takes months and this means he is rendered helpless and cannot defend his foals.

•Over time Akuba made friends with an Angeni Princess. Whenever he saw them they talked and enjoyed nature together.
Akuba started to think she liked him, he did like her and he was sold on how very pure she seemed.
Their short romance and affair was short lived when she fell pregnant with his children. Soon after having them she left two alone in a cold cave for him to find and she took the only one she could manage to carry.
Akuba could only try to warm them and take them back to his teepee as quickly as possible because he wasn't so sure if they'd survive.

Current Love Life:Possible new mate: ClefPersonality: A usually happy bright little male Clef likes having a good time with his siblings, fathers and mother. Loving to a point he's not a true cuddling type of boy..he'd much rather go romping about with his brothers. Sadly when he comes down with the mysterious sickness he's physically weak, tired and overall drained. A bit more fearful of the outside world he spends most of his time around Lijep or another stronger member of his family. Frail, easily hurt and tricked into things...a tad bit needy but, not in an overly annoying way. Important info: Currently (In character) Clef has become very sickly with an odd illness. Rebirth.
It was a dismal day, Akuba sat inside as usual moping, and now as this was a usual occurrence he began to become a little more plumper than he was before, although this is something he didn't notice, but possibly others did. He had no cause for running, skipping, hopping or dancing, because he had nothing to do it for a no-one with. He felt old, useless, and tiered, another part of him told him that he was lonely but he tried to not believe it.
It had been raining for a few days now and all Akuba wanted to stay inside in sleep, he had no patience or concentration for any other activity, but he'd also watch a little spider which had taken refuge in his home,(although he wouldn't tell his daughters or else they would scream) everyday this spider would check it's web countless times and restrengthen and build up it's web for it to be even more spectacular each time. Because of this wet weather, not many flies were caught but the spider was always still trying.
His daughters were busy with other family and friends and his grandchildren either didn't know him or were also busy. Life was passing him by and all he could do was mope. He felt as if he was a ghost of his former self, almost an outer body experience and he wondered if it was worth actually being there. All he could see himself doing was taking up extra room. Akuba angered himself whilst thinking in this way and his heart began to grow colder, he turned on his side and went to sleep.
Hours later he woke and looked outside, it was damp outside but it was no longer raining. He tilted his head up to the sky to see the spider dangle down from it's web to stare his in the face. He wasn't used to having creepy crawlies near his face because he found it unsettling but even so, he now saw this spider as a friend, not one which he could talk to, but one he could learn from. He stepped back a little and looked to the web and on it two new flies writhed,"your persistence helped, my friend. Go and feast." He blew the spider back up and onto it's web and turned back to his books, and that's when it clicked. He should be doing something with his life, even if he couldn't figure out his purpose now.
Akuba looked up from a page to see that his family had been watching him, they were curious as to his thoughts because they hadn't seen him crack a smile properly in months, or hold a real laugh in years. He knew they were looking at him as if his thoughts may be sinister but they were pure and simple.
His duty is to protect and look after them even after they refuse help.
They were all adults, but he didn't mind, he smiled at them and they all gawked back at him.
"I'm going to make things better. I promise."
He stood and looked at them and then squelched out onto the grass and then soon the the river bank.
"I'm not crazy", he said to the gods,"and certainly not lonely, why didn't I see this before. Why didn't you open my eyes, was it for me to do in my own time?"
He pondered his point and looked at the river, he knew they were watching and so he kicked a small crest of the water and turned round,"you know what? I think I'm going to be okay."
The birds tweeted over his head and he smiled at them. His family looked astounded at this sudden change as he had been in a bad mood for well over a year.
"Today, I stand here and make a pledge to say that I will try and make myself better. I know I haven't been the best father and grandfather to you all, but I will try and soon this herd will become official and will be christened with a name", he paused for a second,"I want my old job back,but this time I will do it better. Because I know I need to, there are so many of you to protect, this is a necessary step for us all to be safe." He headed towards them and then stopped again a short distance, not all were born into his family, but became his family, through mateship and friendship of his children and himself, he would always open his heart up to them, if they'd take the help.

Zaniah sat patiently watching the stars, she mumbled to her self as she observed those most prominent to her, she had been thinking about the move for some time now. She wasn't sure she'd be used to the new surroundings.
Akuba strode through the tall grass to his night neighbours or family even, there were times he was confronted by some protectors if they didn't realise who he was but he'd always try calmly to defuse the situation although this rarely happened now.
He chuckled when he heard the mumbling and asked,"mind if I join you." Akuba didn't believe too much in the supernatural, but it did interest him, he knew it was wise not to discourage his granddaughter from doing what she liked although he wasn't so sure himself.
Zaniah patted a pach of ground by her with a wing,"no I don't mind grandfather." It was rare now that she'd see her grandfather, it always had been, their times of day just simply didn't quite match up. It was a shame but he was a day walker and she a night dweller.

Finally making it outside the teepee,Niele's eyes were just getting used to the light. She gave a slight grumble and yawned. It was almost like waking up to a new world. The flowers were bright and everything looked almost new.Like she hasn't seen it in the summer in a few years.Niele didn't like to go out much in the summer time,it just didn't feel like her time of the year anymore.But today just felt like one of those days she should head out and travel around a little bit.

Akuba was out and about for the first summer since he could remember. He'd usually stay out of the heat and out of people's way only to found he'd missed all the fun by the time it'd started to get colder, but in the cold he had always made his own fun. Later on he found this 'fun' was never as good as with family around, but they were too busy staying inside trying not to freeze.
Akuba had changed, despite it still not being his favourite time of year he still made the effort for everyone else and everyone else seemed happier for it. He found their smiles infectious. Akuba broke out of his throughout with a splash into the river. He wadded across and looked back briefly at the break he had made in the stream's direction.

Niele made her way down towards some of the water near her teepee. She didn't think of others being there. It was summmer time and she thought most of the soquili around here stayed in groups to talk and have a good time. Shrugging she grabbed a couple apples off the trees and stopped noticing someone splashing in the river.Someone near by her teepee at the river? She didn't recongize them at first. Niele stood her ears up and listened for what they were saying or anything around them.She was a bit confused and flicked her tail.

Akuba sighed and smiled, he flicked his wet hair back and out of the way. He had not yet noticed that he was not actually alone. It was quite a foal-ish move but it was always the best way for him to cool down on a warmer day. He settled next to a tree quietly, closed his eyes and inhaled the fresh outdoor air. It was a colourful day with flowers spattered and spread out around the land.

Blinking a couple times she moved foward towards the stallion. What was he doing?Cooling himself off then relaxing? Niele shook her head and flicked her tail. As she got closer she stopped on a dime and blinked a couple times more.Was that really who she thought it was?She didn't know how to react even if it was him. "ermm..."Niele said in a whisper and tried to act as cool as possible. "Hello Sir.." She tried not to act extremely nervous,just herself in general.Quiet and calm,thats exactly how she was.

Akuba allowed his ears to do the work, listening to everything in the landscape close enough to cause concern. He opened his eyes once again and resisted the urge to squint at the bright light reflected off the river before him. His eyes had to adjust, just for a second or two. Upon hearing a familiar but almost hoarse voice akuba looked up in the direction from where it traveled, for a moment he thought maybe he did not know the person because they called him Sir until a familiar mare was in his view. He was so astonished he has to stand to make sure he wasn't mistake by the sun's glare,"hello Niele."

It seemed a bit weird everytime she traveled out somewhere she always ran into Akuba somewhere down the line."It's been a while."Said softly as she shuffled her hooves around getting comfortable.She didn't know how long it would be for them talking. It always seemed so short everytime they did stop and talk to eachother.Maybe just maybe this time would be different."How are your other children?WEll I assume?"

Akuba looked at her almost blankly because he didn't actually know how to react,"well…I'm alive. So I guess that means I'm doing good." Akuba wasn't too much of a traveler, he was centred around his home, he did this so his family always knew where he'd be if they needed help and as it happens Niele herself did not live too far away from him. Originally he settled close enough by the river so he could visit her but those days had been long gone, and so every now and again they would bump into each other, but neither knew when or where.
"It has",his voice rumbled firmly,"I should expect to see you every so often seeing as we are fairly close." He meant that atleast by his own standards, he didn't mind a little stroll but never too far for his family to be unable to find his whereabouts.
Encounters were not as warm as they once were nor as carefree for they both had responsibilities now and old times had passed. "Yes, they are well",he had a question or two of his own,"what about charlotte and Accalon? How are they?" In his head he wondered how she was, this was all small talk and formalities to him, he supposed he should have some concern for his first offspring but they had long grown up and gotten on with their own adult lives.

"I am glad to hear that."She nodded slowly. They did live so close but it seemed to far away. Niele and Akuba just never got the time to go see eachother. But Niele just didn't have the heart to go see him since he upped and traveled off."True,but we're too busy..."Actually,she wasn't busy at all.She mostly grazed around the teepee and laid inside. It didn't even feel like she was living a life or carefree one at that. Niele sighed a little bit and stood a little bit from the male.She didn't want to stand too close like she used to and invade his privacy.
"Charlotte,She never comes to see me.Accalon is doing well,He is helping out around here still and going to see his mate. I am glad to hear about them."She nodded.She thought about the grandchildren and when she would have children again."Have any new grandchildren?"

All the changes were now happening to that of his children and his children's children but with him everything was the same. When she told him that they were both busy she didn't know if she really believed he was or if she was for herself but he took is as word,"that is true." He offered her a weak smile, his icy blue eyes followed the lengths of her mane.
Akuba chuckled,"then lets try to assume she is well settled in her new life and this is good to hear", he failed to be able to deal with Accalon's mental health in the past, he never felt he was really his father in Accalon's eyes, just someone there to punish him when he was bad. Make him miserable, of course this was never his intention, just his failings as a father. He could never tell what Accalon really thought.
He hoped Accalon did better his first time as compared to himself.
Akuba looked in her eyes and nodded,"three grandchildren sired by Sonnet, one grandchild from our Stripe and Keii's son Edward has had a child of his own too." It sounded a lot but he didn't see Sonnet's children as much now that they were on the move but he still had Echo around to cause trouble and not so much of a peep from Seren, she would often be around her mother and speak shyly to almost all males.
"And what about you", he asked,"anymore grandchildren?"

Niele shook her head as she listened to him." Suppose so." She flicked her tail and tried to give a smile back.'I hope she's doing well." Niele hadn't herd from Charlotte since she was a baby,and that was years ago. It was an extremely long time.She hated the fact most of everyone left her in the past and moved on with their lives.Wasn't she wanted very much anymore?No one really seemed to talk about her.
Accalons daughter was the only one who was really around their family,the others they didn't see much of.Heck Niele didn't even know if him and Teppy were together anymore,he didn't really talk about it.She wasn't going to bug him if he didn't want to. "None,we have horrible luck.Probably horrible luck from being related to me."She kind of gave a laugh to that. It was true,Niele had the most horrible luck ever.

Akuba watched her face as she pondered for a second or two, her expression did not change and so he could not tell what she was thinking exactly.
"I do not think luck depends on that unless you broke lots of mirrors when you had our children in your tummy", he was not trying to be funny he just thought that everyone's luck was down at some point but there was always a chance for that to change.

Niele shook her head and had a blank look upon her face."After what all I've been through,Every single year living has been bad luck for me Akuba." She said in a soft tone and shrugged her shoulders. She pinned back her ears and flicked her tail. "Nothing goes right for my family." She said with a shake of her head again.

Akuba's heart sank, he couldn't say anything to make things better. He assumed that she was doing better because she did not appear as sad and frail as she used to.
He opened his mouth to speak but no words came out, he just watched her shake her head.

She looked at him in the eyes."Don't you ever feel the same way?"Niele felt like she was going too far with bringing this up again,but thats just how she felt.Was her family was full of people who had horrible luck.

Akuba looked at her back,"of course I do but I've been out of it so long." This thought always made him unsure, he wasn't sure if he could be the same again or if it would be okay. He felt in his head that she was the forbidden fruit, she was his first love and he'd always have something there but he had not been able to admit any love for so long. He had to be a father before anything else.

She felt horrible,didn't feel like she was loved anymore.It felt like her heart wasn't there anymore and she wanted to tear apart anyone and anything that had emotion. The demise of their relationship had been so long ago that he was not bitter about it. He was just a little colder sometimes, back then his thoughts were clouded with darkness but he eventually managed to fight it back. His ears perked,"an why would you do that Niele. We'd only just said hello." He'd leave her to her choice though, it was no good forcing misery on her, he was a living embodiment of some of her most vivid old memories. He represented both the highs and the lows to her but all he could see in her eyes was the memories of sad times.

"Ah",he rested his eyes on her hanging head,"Niele, do you think we could just do that? Too many things have been done and said." He didn't honestly think that it'd be easy or that he could just skip along and fix why had been broken without meeting resistance or feeling like he was betraying his current family who were very settled.
"A lot of things happened and some things are beyond repair. In all honesty I don't know how to fix everything…when one thing is fixed another one breaks. While I think it would be nice to have love away, I don't think I can have it."

She shrugged and agreed. " I suppose Akuba." Niele sighed and tried to keep quiet. She really just blurted out everything. Why would she do such a thing to herself? "Your right...Sorry." She knew his other family was extremely important. "Your other family is too important for you to lose,I understand that." Niele moved around to try to keep herself in check. She really didn't want to start crying or just screaming out at him.

"It's not just that. I've already lost a lot Niele. If I lose them and then lose you or everything else all over again it's not going to be good. My children have faith in me where my others lost it." They were getting on with their own lives especially Sonnet and so he was not sure how it would affect them but he was sure he'd have less visitors and would possibly begin to lose them bit by bit.

"You lost me a long time ago,We talk whenever we walk into eachother."She said blankly and kept her back towards him. It was right,they barely talked and never really visited eachother.They pretty much didn't want to see eachother when everything went down,why would they want to see eachother and talk now? She snorted and slammed her hoof,Niele started getting a bit agitated with the fact that he thought they were becoming close again,if thats what he thought.

Akuba wasn't exactly sure what she expected of him, but he was only mortal. When they met it always ended negatively like this, he never really knew what to do. It always ended in him yelling at her or something of that fashion but for now he was quiet.

Akuba was starting to get chills as he heart sank lower,"it isn't exactly like I was made to feel like I was needed and so I turned my attention to those who needed me the most. I made a mistake and so I wanted to look after it myself. This meant leaving, when I left I did feel great sadness but it wasn't going to be forever, not originally." He shook his head.
