The Big Apple has some of the best bagels, shopping areas, and chocolate chip cookies out there. Central Park is a big deal, and so are the Yankees. The people...well try not to run into anyone.

I started to fall
And the silence deafened ღღღ ღღღ ღღღ ღღღ ღღღ ღღღ ღღღ ღღღ
Audria walked the streets of New York City with her eyes on the sky. She wished she could fly right now. But her boss had said to stay on the ground. Sadly, Ri Ri had to listen to that woman. And so she was walking, arm looped through her friend James's. It was a beautiful day, a clean and cool breeze blowing through the trees with the sun shining down. Lovely. She inhaled slowly and smiled. Now...to find that target.

We finally landed in New York. Gazzy's wings are a bit stiff. I made sure Dylan knew what to do if he was called. So if we are in danger, he will come. He's not too far away considering we left him at home here in America. "Can we go to the cookie shop right over there? They have fifty different kinds of cookies!" Gazzy begged. Iggy smiled. Nudge looked at me. "I'm starving,Max" She said. "Uh, Why cookies?" I was hoping for some burgers or smoked turkey legs or something. They all looked at me with pleading eyes. Well, Except for Iggy. "Alright, fine. But only because I want a chocolate chip cookie." They all cheered. As we headed in the cookie shop, I looked around us, making sure there was no danger around us. I saw a girl and a boy. They were looking at me. I quickly rushed the flock inside the shop. "Eat fast. Take every precaution. Keep your distance from others. Got it?" I was scared. I'd have to admit. I was scared, but I was ready. They all looked worried and nodded. I took six chocolate chip cookies and Gazzy took seven of different kinds Of cookies I didn't even know the names of. Iggy took the same kinds the Gasman did. Nudge stuck with two sugar cookies and three chocolate chip. I lead them to a booth at the nearest exit.

Target Acquired. Audria could have laughed with glee. Maximum Ride had just walked right in front of her. What a delicious change of events. And, to top it off, they had just entered a cookie shop. Audria could grab a bite and Max's Flock at the same time. Two birds with one stone; pun totally intended.
Winking at James, Audria playfully tugged at his hand. "C'mon James. Just one snack." James laughed and shook his head, eyes glinting.
"Alright Ri Ri. You know I can't say no to you."
Of course she did. She whooped his butt when it came to a fight. Inclining her head, Ri Ri signaled the rest of the Base's team to head towards the back and sides of the building. They dispersed into the crowd. She stepped into the bakery, pulling James along. "One chocolate chip cookie." Ri Ri ordered, smiling widely at the clerk.

Just as I looked up, I saw her. Was she following us? Now I'm paranoid. I ate faster and the flock saw me doing so. "Max whats wrong?" Nudge asked just as the girl that's Stalking us sits in the booth behind us with some other guy. "Lets go. Put your cookies in your bags. We are leaving. Now!" I said quickly dropping my cookies into the paper bag and putting them into my pocket. The flock listened and as we got up the girl smiled at me as if I were her prey. My headache got worse. Great. People were blocking the exits from outside and I doubt we would get out fast enough. What about the roof....?

Ri Ri sighed. They were leaving. And as the sides were blocked, like any caged bird, they would head upwards. "Come along James." Audria sighed and then bit into her cookie as she calmly walked towards Max and the others.

I looked around and got freaked out. The only option was the roof, but there was no way we could break it, unless... "Gazzy, Iggy, Do you guys have any bombs on you that could blow the roof?" I whispered quietly. Gazzy shook his head and Iggy didn't do a thing. Crap. They got closer. I don't know what to do. I don't even know that they are going to try and destroy us or not. Do they know we have wings? Do they have wings? What do they want with me? Oh god I'm about to go crazy.

Smiling in a perky manner, Audria stopped before Max, about three feet away. "It's Max, right?" Her eyes twinkled brightly. She seemed friendly enough.

How did she know my name? Oh that's right, EVERYONE knows us thanks to Fang. Now I was really freaked out. This is fang's fault. "uh. Who are you? And will you please excuse me for a second, my phone is vibrating." I said. Hoping she couldn't read minds to see if I was lying because I really needed to call Dylan. And fast!

I took out my phone and walked away quickly to call Dylan. When he answered I nearly jumped. "Uh, Hey Dylan? Uh need your help.. We are in New York. At the giant cookie bakery thing. with like forty orfifty different kinds of cookies. Eh I'm not going into all the details right now. Just get down here. bust a hole in the roof or break a window. I don't care as long as you get us out of here." I waited for a reply. The line disconnected. hopefully he heard what I said. I turned back to the girl and looked her straight in the eye. "I'm not going to fight. Not now anyways. We just flew all the way from France without stopping anywhere and we are tired. Gazzy's wings are stiff, we are starving, and I don't know who the heck you are." I lead the flock to sit back down and we took out our cookies once again. As we began to eat them I saw the girl motion to someone. Now I was REALLY paranoid...

"I'm not here to fight, Max."She had heard every word Max had said to Dylan. She had not even attempted to hide her voice, and Ri Ri' s super senses had picked up the entire conversation. "I'm here to talk. Nothing more. I need help."

Okay, Lesson # one: Never trust anybody. I was surprised at what she said, because she seemed like the kind who never needed help. But I knew Dylan must be on his way here, we are slowly recovering, oh god What do I say to her?
Max, What do you think you should do? This girl is not familiar, and you don't know if she is an enemy or not. Think. Be smart. Okay, I knew that wasn't Jeb. It was the real voice. The voice is back. Now I knew what to do. "What kind of help? I honestly don't think you could possibly need our help. I'm sorry, I don't think I can help you." I hoped that would make her leave.

She sighed. "Great. I get you don't trust me Max. No one should after what you've been through." Hesitantly Audria brushed her hair behind her ear. "There's a group of mutts out there. I think they tailed me in from the west side of the city. But I can't get away...I didn't know you were here Max but it's put you in danger as well." Her voice was pleading, eyes wide. Ri Ri looked and sounded desperate. "I can't get James hurt either."

I Simply didn't know what she wanted me to do. How she wanted me to help. "Mutts?" I Wondered what she was expecting me to do. I couldn't help but think it was a trap. I looked at Gazzy, He looked kind of wiped. I looked at Nudge, She looked kind of worried for me. I looked at Iggy, And he looked confused and annoyed. I looked at the girl and she looked back at me with a pleading look.
I'm so tired, I don't know if I wrote anything right... lol
