VOTING IS OPEN! PLEASE SEE VOTING POST TO CAST YOUR VOTE!!!

So this isn't the official voting time yet, I just want to throw some ideas out there so I can get together everything we are going to be voting on in two weeks (hopefully)

Here is a list of things that need voting on:

----------

1) Subforms.

We are getting rid of orders and replacing them with something else, SOME of the subforms will be used but as of now I only have about 12ish planned out. Here are a few
1a) Crew only subform
1b) separate subforms for each order/tribe/house/town (whatever we come up with) so that's 4-5
1c) 1 Subform for basic roleplay and one for D&D (I talk a bit below about this)
1d) 1 subform for game discussion
1e) 1 for chatterbox
1f) possibly 1 for art. Where you submit your art, talk about art and possibly rate art? I don't want to do contests for art because I don't want peoples feeligns to get hurt.

so that's 12, which will be good smile But do you guys have any other ideas? Let me know we certainly have the space.

----------

2) What the orders are going to be replaced with?

Right now I have a few ideas in my brain but I was hoping to get some more ideas/feedback from you guys before I started opening polls. Here are a few of my ideas.
2a)We reopen tribes. We just have 4-5 but maybe just 1 to start out with and grow from there. Our members will be in their own tribes and within the tribes will be their own: roleplays, chatterboxes, contests, or whatever else the leader of the tribe decides. If we decide on tribes, we will then vote on which tribes we will have/start out with out of (Vierra, Moogle, NuMou, Baanga, and Seeq) sorry if I spelled any/all of those wrong ._.
2b) We replace orders with towns. I was thinking towns from FFXII such as Rabanastre, Archades, Jahara...so on (it's been too long since I've played that game I can't remember any more crying ) Such as with tribes they would have their own leader/mayer/whatever, their own roleplay and chatterbox and yada yada

And that's really all I've come up with so far, I really want some ideas from you guys!!

----------

3) Who will be crew members, and what the crew members will do:

Note: We will NOT be deciding on crew members until we have everything else sorted out and ready to go! I just want you all to keep these things in mind.

3a) Obviously we're going to have one crew member per order/tribe/town/whatever we end up having. These people will be free to run their own little section of the guild however they wish (such as how it is/was with the orders) They will be free to run their own roleplays (within their section) make their own contests, games, activities, whatever. Again such as how it is/was with orders.
3b) We're going to be doing more roleplay so I want to have one person be in charge of that. This person will not be the storyteller (or whatever you want to call it) of all the roleplays (however he/she can do this) he/she will be a moderator for the roleplays that happen within the subform. This also will mean that whoever is the leader of the roleplays will have final say on the rules and guidelines of any and all roleplays that happen within our guild as a whole. No I don't mean this person will set it up, I mean this person will decide what's fair and not fair, what the basic rules and terms are (such as no porn, no swearing so on) And will also make judge calls on Godmoding/metagaming/powergaming. So naturally this person will need some experience
3c) I want to have a crew member as 'Lead DM'. A lot of you have expressed interrest in Dungeons and Dragons so we're going to have it. One person will lead them as our Lead Dungeon Master. This does not mean he is the only one who CAN DM, nor does it mean he has rights to take over as DM of any D&D session we hold, it means basically the same as my explanation for 3b (above) only with Dungeons and Dragons instead of basic online RP. That make sense? I'll cover 3b and 3c more later
3d) I was also hoping to have a 'Game Master' We're still going to have a Game Discussion subform and I want one crew member to be there helping people, answering questions, and doing basic moderation. It will be this person's job (but not ONLY this person specifically) To help members with game questions, on any game. And if they don't know, GOOGLE IT. I'm going to bring up 3d down in the contest section so keep reading! biggrin
3e) If need be, I will add basic moderators as our activity and members increase, as of now we don't need more than myself and Ruecian.

----------

4) Roleplays:

I touched on this a bit above but we are going to have lots of roleplay
4a) each section/town/order of the guild will have it's own separate roleplay which will be moderated by the leader of the tribe and/or the roleplay leader (rules on this will be defined when we get to it, such as who has the real final say in this situation)
4b) We will have a basic roleplay thread where you can roleplay about any sort of whatever you want, I don't care. These will be moderated by the Roleplay Leader
4b1) I know this is pretty broad. Do you guys think we need one subform for IA related roleplay and one for random whatever roleplay? We certainly have enough subform space to be able to do that.
4c) We are having D&D. Moderated by the Lead DM

----------

5) Other Games:

5a) Now I know some of you are fans of stuff like MTG (I'm not but I know some of you are) And I know some of you had played games over gaia, some in the guild. Would you guys want another subform or section for that specifically? Would you want any other games like those a part of the guild? Let me know below because I have no idea. I only know about MTG because Rue plays it razz

----------

6) Contests:

According to Ruecian, his Fafnir account still has quite a bit of gold on it, since we can't use that gold for Zomg (as was originally planned) I figure we can use it for something else. Please provide ideas and suggestions! But here are some of mine.
6a) As I mentioned above in 3c (if you were paying attention) that we are going to have a Game Master who basically helps people with game questions. However I was thinking about giving away prizes to other people who help out. Here's what I was thinking:
6a1) If the Game Master is unavailable, unable, or unwilling to answer a game related question, the question becomes 'open' and the first person to provide the 'asker' with the first/best/most accurate answer "wins" (the asker would decide who this person would be of course, kinda like on yahoo answers) Then they get a prize or something. Now what prize? I dunno... I was thinking the 'asker' would "rate" the person who won and the higher the rating, the higher the prize. (up to a certain worth in gold)
6b) I used to have a super awesome girl in my order. I'm sorry darling but I don't remember your name or if you're even still here but she set up some Chocobo races and they were really fun and successful. So I was thinking we could do that again. Basically you just roll a D10 and whoever gets to a certain amount first wins the race/prize. To enter you just had to have a Wild Things and equip the bird and submit like 100G i think it was? Then whoever won got the jackpot. Pretty neato, huh? biggrin So we could do that or some things like that, throw ideas at me!

----------

7) Membership

7a) As some of you may or may not be aware we currently have a price to join our guild that's set at 10k which was set by Ruecian because he didn't want anymore members added to the guild. I will be getting rid of that (in time) once we have our guild set up, revamped, and ready to go. But (here's a question for our older members) how do you think we should go about adding members to the guild? Do you think we should keep a price on adding, or no? Because apparently there's these chat rooms now that I can rent for us using guild money and I don't think we can use it for anything other than that, guild announcements, and opening new subforms. Or should we do something else like an orientation or something like a test? ( I think no, and maybe have like a 1K entrance fee at the very most, but I want to hear from you guys first!) We will vote on this as well.
7b) Speaking of members, anyone have any ideas on recruiting/advertising? Let me know! smile

----------

8 ) anything else?

I haven't been around for a few...months so I need to hear from you guys! What else do you think we need in our guild, or what do you think we don't need or should get rid of. Please please PLEASE post your ideas, comments, criticisms, thoughts, cupcakes here as I want to get started on this when I get home from my vacation the beginning of July.

If any of you wish to speak with me privately please let me know here and I will add you to my friends list, I have PMs and comments set to friends only and my friend requests shut off. Thank you. smile

[^ diplomacy check]

here's my suggestions:

1. if we don't simply close a few subforums we could make them represent some major Ivalice cities and be used for roleplays. For instance if somebody made a roleplay they would make a thread for that roleplay in each city and all that cities happenings would take place there.

2. A generalized subforum for D&D and other trading card and tabletop gaming.

3. A generalized gaming discussion subforum.

4. A generalized minigames/contests subforum.

5. Crew members are moderators, no more, no less, no Judges, no Elders, no nothing.

I rather like the idea of going with towns instead of tribes.

Having a subforum for art. Is this just art in general, no set topic? And if not could it be?

And I think we could probably merge IA and non-IA RP.

I'll edit this with more once I get a comp.

Here's my edited post.

1) Subforms.
I think what you suggested are all fine choices, however I think what lead to the 'death' of our guild were the subforums, as much as I liked mine. They acted as borders between the orders and it caused a steady drop in the activity of the guild. I think that we should have generalized subforums but that's all.
And yes on the art subforum, though I wonder what kind of art would be allowed. All forms or simply graphical ones?

2) What the orders are going to be replaced with?
I like the idea of towns simply because if we're going to become members of tribes it would limit the availability of either race or familiarity with the area to what I might want to RP as. If we had towns instead of tribes, any character of any race or background would be open and easily playable. I'm a fan of the Ivalice games in their entirety, though I'm more a fan of FFT, however FFXII is a very close 3rd and I'm more than happy to RP in that realm.

3) Crew Members
What you stated was relevant and functional I have no qualms about the positions you've talked about.
My only input is that I DO NOT WANT TO BE ONE.
I worked too hard on my order and it's been cut down before it ever had a real chance for things to come to fruition within it. After putting several years of effort in making 84 banners, making contests, RPs, and trying to find ways to keep my order members active... and failing.... I'm not ever going to put myself on the line again, despite whomever shall want it of me. It's just all too heart breaking to care so much and see it end without even so much as being sent a request of my opinion.

4) Roleplays:
I'm eager to play D&D with everyone, though I have to wonder what edition we'll be playing and will various other tabletop games be permitted?(i.e. Shadowrun, Pathfinder, Vampire the Masqurade, etc.)

5) Other Games:
I see no problems in having a section for people to discuss other games and I look forward to helping people out with what they're playing.

6) Contests:
I like the Game question contest but with the existence of Gamefaqs.com I don't think it should yield very much gold.
The chocobo races are a great idea, however, I think there should be a way for people without the items needed to participate, to still do so. Perhaps a betting system, as if you're a spectator cheering for whichever contender you've put money on.
I had a contest in my order that never got any attention and failed due to that. I still think it was a good idea and if there were more people playing, I think it would've done well.

7) Membership
I don't like the membership fee. We've already had enough trouble recruiting and forcing people to pay to join will just make it harder. On top of that, we already have so much gold in the guild account that we don't even know what to do with it. I think a membership fee is simply retarded.
As far as advertising goes..... perhaps if we held one of our contests in public once in a while, perhaps in towns or something we'd attract a lot more members. Just an idea. No idea if it'll work.

8 )Other
I like the ideas of chat rooms, though I doubt I'll ever be around enough to join in one. I honestly don't have any idea what to do with the guild funds.

There you go, I hope it's as helpful as I meant it to be.

I have to say, IMO, the town Idea is better(Changing the Orders).
Sounds more fun and whatnot.
-also a fan of FFXII- Hehe. PX

I think the art subforum would be nice. Though I myself cannot draw well, it would be cool to see others art and whatnot.

I honestly have not been in here for quite some time, mostly because it was pretty deadish before, at least it seemed that way. sweatdrop
I quite like this guild a lot though, and seeing this is nice. I'll definitely be trying to be more active now.

I also like the idea of an Art Subforum, though I feel like it might be pretty dead. However there could be a lot of potential, we could have IA art including pictures and music, discussions about the styles for those who aren't as artistically talented, sprite art/edits, and even open it up for Avatar Art, and character art for the roleplays.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 21, 2012 4:17 pm

Could probably set up a biweekly topic for Art Exercises as well.

I don't have an opinion on what to replace it with.

I'm still up for it but all I will do is enforce rules and whatnot.

Sure if you can make the Dandy stuff or at least the basic stuff available for anyone to join.

Have to say no to the Magic the Gathering though. Seems like a bit too much effort to add and support it well enough online without the use of one of those Online games.

Don't really feel like saying much on Contests, but sure I'm okay with it.

I don't think we will need a membership fee but I would say something like 1000 gold to help assist keeping out mules. IT won't make a big difference, I know, but it should prevent quickly made mules from joining(Of course I've forgotten how much gold you start with....)

1) Subforms.
An art sub-forum would be nice. Overall, since we are disbanding the orders I think we should simplify navigation by having each areas clearly marked (i.e. Roleplaying, Art, etc)

2) What the orders are going to be replaced with?
If we are want to start fresh, I think that the towns could be interesting. As much as I would like to have my old tribe work be vilified, I think its better if we leave that to the past.

My only reservation is how the towns will affect navigation, but it is not strong enough to be an objection. I'm also hesitant on the use of FFXII based towns, not for any real reason, but I find towns from FFT to be more iconic.

3) Crew Members
Honestly, crew members should be there to manage guild affairs. While a crew member might be assigned to a particular town, or other sub-section, their duties should be more on rule-enforcement and maintenence/cleanliness, and should not effect the "world" of the guild as the prior judges did.

4) Roleplays
Since we have the space, I can't object to using it XD. So I agree with the idea, though, again, we should ensure they are clearly marked off. I think it would be a good idea to have a weekly guild announcement in place to remind people to come in, and to update them on new RPs and other events.

5) Other Games:
As much as I like MTG I think we should leave it off, at least at start. Lets focus on the role-playing for now.

6) Contests:
Hey sounds good to me. I never used to be much for the contests, but sometimes I pine for gold, and they can be a good tool for participation. All contests (or at least ones with significant prizes) should be ticked given a guild announcement.

7) Membership
At this point, we need fresh blood, so I would say, reduce the fee to 1000 gold. The broader range of roleplay will expand our potential membership, so we can now advertise more as a roleplaying guild with investment in Ivalice.

8 )Other
I really have little else to think of at this time, I think the bases are covered pretty well, but I'll post again or PM if a new idea comes up.
PostPosted: Sat Jun 30, 2012 10:08 am

1) If done properly we should be able to facilitate Orders, Towns, and Tribes, should the desire for each of them be great enough. I assume that we'll be becoming a bit more RP intensive, yeah? Would it not make sense to branch out having perhaps Towns with Tribes and Orders within them and a secondary roleplay for everything else? Or we could do as I suggested in Serpentarius a while back and make each separate Order/Tribe/Town a designated hotspot for certain activities (I.E. Town A is for art, Town B is for RP, Town C is our designated chatterbox, etc.). Since we shall be mor RP intensive, perhaps it would be better that we had two RP subforums, one for RPing, and one for Reference.

2) While I find myself very partial to the Orders, I would like to see this guild flourish and the Orders don't seem to work any more. I'd actually like to see all of them practically applied if possible (see previous subsection).

3) Given the previous subsections ramblings, it would make sense to allow for the mayor/leader/judge to be crew member. HOWEVER, I wish to suggest that each area allow for those "occupations" to be left for anyone's taking. Perhaps we should now consider appointing members to moderate as well as coordinate events within the guild. This would leave the crew free to wander about the guild instead of more or less trapping them like the Order subforums seemed to do. That being said, it would make sense to look for persons who fell into certain criteria, such as impartiality, knowledge of DMing, et cetera.

4) See previous subsections.

5) If a certain game or concept gained momentum within the guild, it would make sense to generate a subforum for that specific purpose. However, since there is no guarantee that the popularity will continue, perhaps it would be best to consider this only should the need arise? It might be better to suggest that one a certain amount of threads be created on similar subjects.

6) We could easily pool ideas for contests from Gaia's Contest forum if necessary. Moulding them to be more FF involved should not be too difficult. Given that you mentioned rewarding the helpful, perhaps it would be best to randomize it? Instead of giving it to any John Doe who helps give it out randomly to one person each month. Perhaps a monthly collectible or something of that sort.

7) While I abhor the use of guild fees, perhaps it would be better to keep at least... say.. 1000 gold as the entree fee? It's not so much that we need the money but more that it deters random people from joining for no reason at all. When adding members, I'd like for them to actually post. I believe that's my only request. Now, since we already have a slew of silent zombies within our ranks, as it were, what shall we be doing with all of the inactive (dust covered) guild members?
