according to my friend who was over yesterday my gold gourami, squid, has grown alot since i got her. hearing this made me happy since im only keeping her in a 20gal but ive been pretty a**l about the water changes and even changed my filter a bit so i no longer have carbon, its all bacteria homes now biggrin ive also gotten 3 whole live plants, i plan on getting more so dont worry.

her colors are amazing, her grey bits are so dark. at first i was worried that that meant she wasnt happy but she never went back to her paler colors like when i first got her so i think this may just be her normal coloring

she is such a good eater too and is fully settled in. she loves watching me cook, watching the dog watch her, and is always trying to touch everything

and my bording tank so far. as i said, im getting more plants soon. im just waiting for some more petco coupons to be emailed to me ninja im not in too much of a rush since she doesnt really try to hide unless the dog runs into her tank or something startles her, she is pretty brave.

How cute it she!!? Three Spot Gouramis are quite bold once they settle in. I bet if you had a school of small fish like Neon Tetras in there she'd really toughen up wink

Naw, I don't think she would. The Neons at the store aren't quite fully grown yet, so they are still kinda small. Since you have a 20 long, I think you'd be ok adding 5 or 6 Neon Tetras. They don't really add much to the bioload, to be honest, so I don't think you'll even need to change your maintenance routine. I think you could get away with some smaller Cories, like Panda or Pygmies, if you wanted to. But then you would have to up the water changes a bit.

Oh, I didn't know you had a pleco in there lol

Not really. I'd go to a good local store and ask for some Florida Raised ones, though. They are so much healthier than the ones from "somewhere in Asia," as the lady at PetSmart says rolleyes I can never keep any others alive. The Florida Raised Neons will most likely come from Segrest Farms. They are a great farm, and are used by most the pet stores down here in the south.

Nope! I don't think the ones at chain store are, though, either. Just poorly bred. But you can see so much difference between those ones and the Florida Raised ones. First thing is the color. Super bright. They are also a lot more active, and school more tightly. They really are great looking fish, and restore your trust in Neon Tetras lol

Neons would get destroyed by a full grown three spot gourami neutral

Look into cherry barbs, harlequin rasboras, or cardinal tetras instead, all a bit more wider bodied. Don't know if this matters to you, but the cherry barbs and rasboras are from asia as well. Cardinals and neons are from south america. But I doubt this is of concern sweatdrop

Beautiful fish, though, I love three spot gouramis, they're full of personality. I just can't manage their temper when they grow up, they strive to be top dog, and don't tend to get much nicer once they reach top dog.
