Most people on here seem to be american-ish, so probably can't help, but I was wondering if anyone in England knew of a fairly comperhensive site or publication that lists riding schools by area and cost. I have just moved to Oxford and all the stables I can find on the internet for this area cost twice as much as at home which I can't afford right now.

Sorry I can't help you here, I've only been out of the country once, and that was to Canada.
The only thing I can suggest is good ol' Google.

Do a google on
"riding stables" +England
And you will come up with a lot of guides. Most seem to be regional, like Cornwall, and so forth. I didn't go past the first page, but you might find your area has a list of stables.
Good luck!

I'm sorry but I really can't help with this one. Did you try looking around. Maybe flipping through the yellow pages.

Many travel guides (books) will have a long list of riding stables. Try going to a bookstore and flipping through the English travel guides, they should list some.

Try the ABRS (Association of British Riding Schools) or the British Horse Society.
