I've had this idea for a while now, because where I kickbox, we don't cover slipping, and evasion NEARLY as much as I would like...So I've had this idea for personal outside training.Though this involves a partner.

One day I was messing with some of my weights, and I happened upon 2, 2, and a half pounders. Not very heavy yeah, but I find that they fit rather snugly inside the palm of my training MMA gloves. 2, and a half pounds of course isn't much, but it slows down your strikes quite significantly. Good for developing speed. (I think)

Now! My idea: how about if your partner wears the heavy gloves, while you, wear headgear, and a mouthpiece, and practice slipping the significantly slowed, Jabs, and Crosses of your partner? Your partner develops a bit of speed, and control, while you develop your reflex, and head movement.

Then after a while, you switch, you get the gloves, and your partner gets the gear. Over time you should get use to the weight making your punches faster, so naturally you'd have to work a little harder to evade, making you more experienced as time goes on....I'm not sure, it seems like a good idea...What do you guys think?

It's a good idea. There's historical precedent for it as well. Shaolin trainees would weight their wrists and arms and then practice which helped them develop speed and power. I reckon that using it to help train defensively would be effective as well, though I'm not sure how many trainees are willing to risk catching a weighted glove to the face!

Ahh, I see, haha, I'm not too sure about most people, but I'm confident in my ability to avoid eating a heavy glove xD But that's why I recommend the headgear, and mouth piece. I like the idea, because its beneficial to both parties training. There are some people who take their training partners for granted, and treat them as punching bags.

But we all have to realize. No one is a there to be a punching bag, and no one should be treated higher than the other, we're all here, to benefit from each other. Without your training partners, you wouldn't be as good as you are now, and without you, your training partners wouldn't be able to expand or grow. We're not here to beat each other up. We're all here for the same reason: To learn, and grow as one. (motivational speech, still workin' on it.)

Thanks, yeah I've seen that one, the only problem is that he's not really aiming for the guys face, to me that doesn't give him much experience, because he's essentially slipping punches that aren't aimed at him. I like to wear headgear, and a mouth piece when I slip jabs, and crosses, I want my partner to aim for my face, but not use full power, because if I get hit, its really my fault for not getting out of the way in time not the other guys.

Well in essence it is a build-up process ... it builds up that muscle memory that is always important ... generally you start practicing by yourself ... then you move onto partner drills such as the one above ... then you move onto full speed ... like they say in the video ... sometimes you have to break it down ...

Also you can always use a slip line or a small ball hanging from the ceiling to work your slipping ...

I understand, and thank you again. I'm currently trying to make me a slip line since I don't always have someone to practice with, its tough too, being a huge Jiu Jitsu lover, but never usually being able to practice. For the slipping though,.I guess I was talking in a sense of, "Since we're already pretty good at it." Type thing. I thought it'd be good to use weighted gloves so that your partner is also achieving something, rather than just punching at you, and not really developing anything other than what it feels like to lay one on his best friend lol.
