This was inspired by the song Ice Queen and Mother Earth by Within Temptation and pure boredom. (I seem to be making a lot of things like this lately) Enjoy~! EDIT: The previous tense issues should be fixed. Let me know if you see any more!
You can feel the chill spreading through your body, causing your limbs to go numb and your lips to turn blue. You tremble violently as snowflakes continue to cover you, getting caught in your hair and on your eyelashes. You try to run, move, do anything but her gaze has you paralyzed. You are staring into the icy orbs of the Ice Queen. ‘Hush, my child, give into the cold. Let it embrace you.’ She whispers seductively, entrancing you with her voice. Your blood runs cold and feels like ice in your veins as she speaks. She has a smile upon her pale lips but you see in her eyes her true emotions. She isn’t kind. She’s cruel, cold, and unforgiving, just like the season she represents. You shudder as you feel her breath reach your face and create frost, layering thinly over the pale flesh. ‘N-N-No….’ You manage to stutter. ‘But you will die if you do not embrace the cold, let it engulf you,’ She said, and then moves toward you so that her lips are next to your ear. ‘Become my child,’ she purrs. ‘NO!’ You yell, finally breaking your arms from the paralysis and shoving her back. She glares harshly at you, her fake kindness now wiped clean off. ‘You will regret that,’ she snarls between grit teeth. Raising one of her arms, you saw the image of a snowflake seemingly carved into her palm. The sleeve of her frosty dress hung from the arm, flapping ever so slightly in the winter breeze. Just as her lips began to form the last words that would ever grace your ears, a voice, obviously female, booms through the land. ‘Stop!’ It orders. The Ice Queen lowers her arm as her expression became serious and stern. Suddenly, green began to sprout, just at the crest of the hill. Then, you saw a woman appear at the top of the hill, the green spreading out from her bare feet. She has creamy skin, long raven hair, and eyes with an expression that reminds you much of a bird of prey, like a hawk or falcon. The Ice Queen immediately drops to one knee, placing her right hand over her heart and bowing her head. ‘Mother Earth, why do you honor me by visiting?’ ‘Do not play this game with me Ice Queen. You know I do not stand for it,’ Mother Earth said, her voice strong and commanding. She made her way down the hill until she was standing there, towering over the Ice Queen. ‘You have caused many deaths this winter. Stand down, and spare this mortal, who is nothing but a child both in our lives and a mortal life.’ The Ice Queen then stood the look in her eyes defiant. ‘Mother Earth, you know that nature cannot be contained, especially winter. Why do you try to restrict such power?’ Mother Earth obviously didn’t like what the Ice Queen was suggesting, but she showed no signs of backing down. Sure enough, Mother Earth had a quick come-back. ‘Because the last time I allowed you to run free, Daughter, we had the Ice Age. I surely do not want a repeat of that,’ The Ice Queen’s gaze became hard as steel. ‘You cannot control me, Mother Earth, because ice is like fire, it spreads and once it is started, it can never be stopped.’ Mother Earth has a flash of amusement dance through her eyes as her daughter speaks. ‘Funny, how you make reference to your natural enemy. Now, I expect you to behave. If not, you will face my full wrath.’ At this threat the Ice Queen looked a bit scared. Throughout this entire conflict, you had curled into a ball, trembling in fear at the divine beings before you. They bent and shaped your world and now they stood before you, arguing over whether you are to live or die. What did you do to draw the immortals attention? Why, out of every person she could’ve picked, did she choose you? Because you prayed to her. You think. And you distinctly remember your prayer to the Ice Queen. You prayed for her to spare your little sister, who had wandered out into the cold. Apparently, it’s life for a life. ‘Wait!’ You yell, uncurling from your tight ball. Both of the divine beings looked thoroughly shocked as they looked toward you. Your throat was dry and cracked from the cold, your lips and face was numb but still you force your voice to work. ‘I-I asked for this. I asked for her to save my sister, I guess it’s a life for a life,” you choke out. Mother Earth’s expression went as cold as the air around you. The Ice Queen wore a smug look but Mother Earth pushes her aside and moves toward you. Placing her hands on your shoulders they feel like bricks, with all the power this woman possesses you were surprised she didn’t break your shoulders on accident. ‘My child, you must never ask a favor of the winter. It is a harsh, cruel and untamed element that even I have much trouble controlling, as you have just witnessed. You cannot tamper with the forces of life and death; even I do not meddle in such affairs. You must let Nature take its course.’ You hang your head as you lose all hope that your sister would return safely. ‘Please, Mother Earth, let me do this for my sister. This once,’ you plead, your voice hoarse from your scratched up throat. ‘No, my child, I cannot allow it. Now, return home.’ Mother Earth said, and before you could protest, her hand was laid across your face and your eyes closed.
When you wake, you find yourself in your room, wrapped in your blankets. The soft sound of sobbing could be heard coming from not to far outside your door. Slowly you pull your covers off, turn to the side, and try to get off of your bed. The moment you try to lift your body off of the mattress your knees buckle. You hit the wood floor of your room. Hard. But, driven by horrific curiosity you crawled to the door, leaning up and turning the knob. Finally, you manage to make it to the source of the sobbing, and once you did you wished you never had. There laid your little sister, curled into a ball. Her creamy skin was now a pale blue; her eyes were still open staring lifelessly into the distance. Worst of all, she was clutching her worn old teddy bear in her small hands, her frozen fingers still wrapped around the teddy’s small hands. ‘She had to die,’ Whispers a voice above you. You recognize the chill in her words. Ice Queen. ‘What do you want with me?’ You demand, your voice cracking from the sobs about to leak out. ‘I came to visit my favorite mortal,’ She replies sweetly. Tears slide down your face as you gaze at the shell that was your little sister. ‘Why me? Why do you want ME?!’ You demand of the goddess. She kneels down and gently strokes your hair. ‘Because, my child, you remind me so much of myself when I was a mortal, like you.’ ‘Go away,’ You whisper, your voice hoarse and dry. ‘B-But, why?’ ‘GO AWAY!’ You screech, pulling your body off the floor and reaching up to punch the Ice Queen, but your fist only makes contact with air. Your body falls back to the floor, limp and almost lifeless. You felt your breathing begin to become heavier, as if something were lying on your chest. Mother Earth’s words echoed in your ears, replaying over and over. ‘You cannot tamper with the forces of life and death.’ The words then began to boom in your ears, growing louder and louder. Suddenly, you became short of breath, you’re eyes struggling to stay open. ‘You must let Nature take its course,’ her voice said. It sounded like the roar of a winter wind in your ears as the words replayed and then, your breath stopped. You tried to draw air into your lungs but you couldn’t. Over and over you tried breathing, but you were like a fish out of water. Your vision began to grow fuzzy and you thought, ‘I cannot die, not now.’ But nevertheless, Nature was taking its course and moments later you felt the last of your life slip out of your body.
The next thing you knew there was blinding light. When you opened your heavy eyelids, you gazed into the kind eyes of Mother Earth. ‘M-Mother Earth! What’s going on?’ You ask the woman before you. ‘My dear, you have shown true devotion, care and love through your lifetime. By my and my daughter’s request, you have been chosen to represent a new season. A season filled with love, life, hope and birth. Something that life always goes on. Now, we only have three seasons. One that is full of heat and sun that is full of fun and happiness, then we have a season that is preparing for what is to come full of ominous signs, then finally we have the season of ice that only symbolizes the world’s brutality and cruelness. I have decided you shall be the embodiment of a season of hope. You now are and forever will be the season of Life, Love, Hope, Joy and Care. You shall be Spring!’ Mother Earth proclaimed placing a hand on your forehead. ‘Now go, my child, and spread your joy throughout the land!’ You dart out of the room and saw the entire world expanding below you. With a joyous laugh and a wide smile you dart out onto the land, ending the winter and welcoming a new dawn to the Earth.

Beautiful story! The idea/plot was very creative. However, I would suggest that instead of alternating between two tenses (in your case, past tense and present tense) you should settle on just one. If you write in two tenses, it usually becomes confusing for the reader. xP
