Seriously. I've started reading two different comic series. One is a fusion of two of my favorite television series ever, Star Trek: The Next Generation, and Doctor Who. This endeavor, entitled "Assimilation2", is an 8-issue series that began in May and will end in December of this year.

The other is a series my girlfriend has been reading, and has introduced me to, called Fables. It depicts the creatures and characters of our favorite childhood fairy tales, such as Snow White, Cinderella, and Beauty and the Beast, as they live their lives in modern-day New York, having been forcibly evicted from their respective lands by a mysterious Adversary.

I've only read the first book of Fables, but this series is actually quite good, introducing several of the characters and revealing a glimpse of how they came to live in our world - unnoticed by time.

As for Assimilation2, I fell in love with it from the first few pages. A deadly attack by the Borg, then a trip back into Rome with the Eleventh Doctor and his companions, all before they end up somewhere quite unexpected, the USS Enterprise. It's an amazing story, and one that countless science-fiction nerds have only dreamed of.

So has anyone else read any interesting comic books recently, or even old ones, with the advent of The Avengers and a new Spiderman coming into theaters?
