Description:
History: Growing up, Derek had what was arguably the most boring life ever, but not due to misfortune or circumstance, he just could never bring himself to get interested in anything, and as a result, never did anything. He went to school, did homework, ate, slept, and that was about it. In any free time he had he played video games, not even for entertainment, but just so that he felt like he was doing something. On top of all that, both of his parents had full-time jobs, and he had no siblings or friends. He got used to the loneliness, though, and even kinda liked it.
One day, Derek was in a videogame store when a pre-kishin decided to burst in on a murderous rampage, and guess who was it's first target? Thankfully, all those games cause him to develop fast reflexes, and that, combined with his almost computer-like brain, kept him alive just long enough for a weapon-meister pair from DWMA to show up and slay the beast. After hearing about his feat from onlookers, the pair advised him to enroll in the academy, and just like that, for the first time in his life, Derek had something to be interested in.
When he arrived at the academy, the first thing he decided to was find a weapon to be his partner, since a meister is pretty much useless without one. Unfortunately, his calculating, antisocial attitude drove most people away, and those it didn't weren't compatible with him. As it turned out, he has a bit of an inflexible soul.
Being unable to go on missions without a weapon, Derek spent most of his free time training, as if getting stronger would somehow make him more compatible with someone. During the first year, he mostly trained his mind, learning as much as he could about demon weapons, witches, soul resonance and the such, and also becoming very efficient in soul perception. During the second year, he trained his body, improving his reflexes, and developing some actual physical strength. At the start of the third year, by some miracle he found compatibility with Auron Shineblade. They have been partners since.

Hobbies: Whatever has to be done. Otherwise, whatever will pass the time until he has to do something else.
Personality: If you were to look up stoic in the dictionary, all you would see is Derek's face (which, by the way, never changes). He's never the one to start a conversation with someone, and when he does talk, his voice is very monotone and can even sound creepy, depending on the context. He's rational, antisocial, and never displays any emotion, but he's mostly just not yet used to interacting with other people. It's still very hard for him to get interested in, well, anything, but he copes by trying whatever his partner wants to do.
Likes: Solitude, logic, information, getting things done.
Dislikes: Other people, boredom, wasting (time, energy, etc.), loose ends, ignorance.
