Well, first I have to say that I've been on hiatus for like ever and might be a little rough around the edges. But any way I'm back and active and have what I think is a decent idea. But very rough. Sooooo I'm going to post a rough introduction and hopefully I can get some feedback on whether or not I should develop it and all that good stuff or scrap it. Also if its decided that I go through with it I'm open to any suggestions. Especially a title.

10,400 years ago a cataclysmic event occurred on Earth. 48 countries released countless atomic bombs across the globe over the time span of 18 days. There was no possible way anybody or anything could survive all the radiation without eventually meeting a gruesome death. The Earth had to start completely over and that’s exactly what it did. It cooled its crust down enough so that a few microorganisms could withstand its heat. Eventually, there were fish, then amphibians and so forth. After about 1200 years of evolution the Earth is returning to normalcy, with a few adjustments to life.
It’s been 9,600 years since the Earths “Fall”. There are no skyscrapers, or McDonalds. Technology is pretty much limited to basic knives or gardening tools due to the somewhat recent discovery of iron. The planet is still mostly rock and sand with a few plains in certain more developed areas. The average temperature is about 80 degrees Fahrenheit and it rarely rains. Small trees are starting to sprout and fish flourish in the water, which besides fruit is the only source of liquid nourishment. Food however is bountiful, that is, if you eat meat. The human race is, well lets not call them human just yet, but those close to it are what you could consider half breeds. Not just half lions, or tigers. The Fall put such a strain on the planets resources that over time everything imaginable has evolved. From, plants, to fish, to insects and birds, they are all struggling to survive.

So, where are you in this slowly developing world? Well, you have 3 choices, Soluka, Mahataken, or Breskinia.

Soluka is a massive territory. Most of the land is flat with the exception of a few hills here and there. The flat terrain allows for easy farming and makes building small houses from the small trees and plants simple work. There is plenty of water to go around on Soluka and most residents make good use of it. It is the only region with an irrigation system that is proficient. However Soluka has a limited supply of iron which forces them to do most of their labor by hand. It takes longer and gets the job done but their structures aren’t as sturdy as others. Since their region is mostly plains they have the advantage of seeing enemies coming but the disadvantage of having no way to stop them from entering. The only minor defense they have is a river affectionately called “Big River” that runs throughout the west side of their land.

Mahataken is guarded by sand on the north side and small mountains on the east. A gate is located on the north that is used for trading, mainly for iron. Mahataken is a melting pot of all races, and maintains a high enough food supply to trade. This region has the most variety of races and is very proud of to be known as the “Melting Pot.”There are a few small lakes and ponds in the region but they still struggle to find water which is why they also trade with Soluka though not as often. There are rumors, however that Mahataken kills a select few of their residents to keep trading with the other regions and maintain a healthy food supply.

Breskinia is almost completely surrounded by mountains. Throughout the region are piles of debris, stone rubble, and most of all iron. This was the first region that realized iron could molded and shaped into almost anything if exposed to extreme heat. However, due to their living conditions not much food can be found in the area. Few trees are able to grow in the dry heat and grass is almost nonexistent. They only have one known body of water. Most residents travel to stock up on water and trade iron for food with Mahataken. There are still quite a few residents who hunt along the borders of the region, preferring to exercise instead of trade.

And, just a little note, but 2 of the regions will be fighting.

Breskinia and Soluka will be at war during some point in the storyline.

Do you have an idea for races yet? If so are they separated by region, or are they all integrated?

Maybe put some equal-oppurtunity-hatred in there in the form of some non-human intelligent race that wants to wipe our antecessors out and continue their own un-muddied evolutionary chain.

But first thing's first, how do races work out?

You can be absolutely anything. Say you like venus fly traps, some good defining characteristics would be say a mouth full of tiny teeth and green skin and eyes. Another far out there one could be a dragon fly which I would think resembles some sort of fairy with big eyes and would of course be shorter than most other races. Whatever you can imagine, you can be if you up for a decent description of it. I like seeing what people can imagine and I think this is good creative challenge. Personally I would like to see someone try a boar or a squirrel.

The races will all be integrated. You could say the regions separate the races. But, if for some reason two people decide to be the same type of beastie I would expect them to have some sort of kin ship. And that would let people play 2 characters if they choose to go that route.

I actually have thought about something similar to your suggestion. Not so much a race but a group (Maybe all insect-like creatures or some made up brotherhood) that would like establish a hierarchy and control all the lands.

Cool, so they're just whatever you dream up then.

I guess what there would be to work on is establishing your groups and factions and the why's and hows behind them then.

An insectoid faction bent on controlling the other races would be neat. Maybe a shamanistic faction and an "artsy" faction out there.

That would represent the Empirical, tribal, and intellectual groups, what else you think would fit?

Have you given thought to remnant technology?

Yep, a jellyfish would be interesting too.

As for the groups this is what I'll have trouble with cause I'm inherently lazy.

And there will definitely have to be militant type faction. I already gave some thought to one of the regions being neutral. Helping everyone else for a certain price which could lead to them overthrowing the other regions.

As for technology I was hoping that as the RP progressed more technology would be created. War breeds ingenuity and creativity, and whose to say there isn't any burnt remains of the White House, or the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Mona Lisa might be lying around somewhere, half of her at most, buried 16 feet underground.

Maybe the neutral faction is sitting on a bunker of still-in-order warheads.

And laziness is doable.

The empirical insects would be the main militant faction. Alternatively they could be the "mercenaric" faction that overtakes other factions through debts and hired conquerings.

I'll need to do some reading up on the iron age to see what sort of socio-political things they had going on. I'm pretty sure they were already spying and terrorising though, wouldn't be too much of a stretch to imagine them also incurring economical takeovers.

Speaking of economy, the most powerful faction should have the most iron at first, as that is the main resource, yes?

Hmm, that doesn't necessarily have to be the case. It depends on how people play it. But as for being the most powerful weapon wise, definitely.
'
And, there will lots of hired "tasks" and people traveling from region to region.

Depending on where a person chooses to live, they will have certain items that can only be found in their region. If someone demands that you display this item after committing a crime that region can can sentence you to death if the crime was serious enough. Switching regions is just as simple as convincing somebody to trade this particular item with yours. It is possible for a person to possess more than one There is some established order and the regions do look up to certain people for guidance and leadership, but there is no defined King, or Queen, yet.

Residents of Soluka have a white gritty orb that is found in many of its bodies of water.

Residents of Mahataken have a red sand stone which takes a few years to form.

Residents of Breskinia has a small piece of triangular iron that is usually worn in the left ear.

So now I suppose what needs to be decided is who is fighting who and why? Also, cities within the regions, maybe each region has a capitol?

Also, religion is a fun layer to every civilization.

I would say that Soluka and Brekinia are fighting, Soluka because it wants Breskinia's iron, and Breskinia because it wants Soluka's food.

The insects should totally be the economic hub of Mahataken, because Mahataken is ripe for neutrality (why attack the trading hub of the world, nobody would get anything then) and in the prime position to benefit from one or either nation falling.

Maybe they even help stir the war up.

Mahataken also gives a place for the RP to start, say, the capitol, and in that a place for the players to start out in their groups.

Maybe it is the brink of war between Soluka and Breskinia. The ambassadors and diplomats meet in the neutral capitol to argue over resources, and try to "win" the favour of Mahataken (basically disallowing Mahataken to continue trading with the other country) etc. etc.

There could be a lot of political intrigue.

The players could the pick a side, if they aren't already on a side, or maybe the plot can be them trying to disperse the war, or turn the warring nations on Mahataken.

Woooooo ideas.

Get some of yours out there.

Yeah, I would like Mahataken to appear neutral for the most part. It just makes sense for Soluka and Breskinia to be fighting.

As for politicking there will be certain people in each region who attempt to make laws and take control. Some might rebel others might let themselves be governed, which might lead to the fall of that region.

As for the actual story, I want to leave it a bit vague so the players have some control of where of where the story goes. If I feel like the plot is moving a bit slow or in a direction I disagree with I'll write a post that will definitely move the plot in a direction I prefer.

The only downside is people will probably have to create a few NPC's to move the plot if not enough people join. It will be hard to interact with each other if we all live in different regions.

I'm not too sure about the cities idea. Of course, there will be a specific place people go to discuss matters but I don't know about having actual established cities.

Slowly appearing on the horizon in Region[/b ]was Sally,Joe. He/She has been living here for about Years He/She was raised like any other raceand taught to special abilities(no more than 5). When another person looks at him/her they see description

Rough Character skeleton... Haven't made one in a while but it seems simple enough to leave like this.

I don't think cities are too far off, they wouldn't be as we think of cities today, just as cities were way back when, when the population of today's small town and a few permanent buildings constituted city status.

Mahataken, being a trading hub, would have a considerable advantage in city-building status, and it would likely be in an area accessible to both sides.

If possible by a river or something, and that same river can flow from Breskinia through Mahataken and Soluka. Bodies of water are exceptionally important to trade, and more so given the prehistoric atmosphere.

Not to mention them being great for resources.

It'd be good to have this place a central meeting hub for the players so they don't all scatter out too fast and confuzzle the roleplay.

I suppose this would depend on how many characters would be joining. Assuming you get a lot, different region play would be doable, assuming you don't get too many, having a central location would be good.

So keep both of those in mind as you start accepting profiles, the more you get, the more you can do in different regions, the less, the more you want centralised.

But if you have to fall back on centralisation don't let that stop you from accepting people in, maybe have it where after the roleplay starts centralised new characters can start in other regions.

And for giggles, if it gets big, have it where people's paths cross all the time, especially when the individuals aren't too important to each other's stories. It's incredibly fun waving at other people's characters who are off to talk to some big wig while your guys are out to slay a dragon. And it makes the world feel that much more alive as multiple stories take place and brush each other, if not always join up.
