Hello all!
As the Grotto is a guild primarily focussed on role-playing, it stands to reason that we should actually have a few role-plays. I would love to start us off, but first I would like to know the interests of our current populace. As the Grotto continues to grow this thread may be used for discussion of future RP ideas. If needed, I can update the poll so we can have an accurate reading of people's thoughts; just let me know if you'd like me to do so in your post. Feel free to comment with your own ideas or to expand on an afore-mentioned one.

I'd like to start us off with something relatively simple and accessible to virtually anyone. My thoughts currently are a pirate RP, very much in the spirit of Pirates of the Caribbean with subtle fantasy elements, or a traditional mediaeval fantasy RP. Being fairly experienced in both genres I already have some plot ideas but will gladly take input.
My other ideas include an old western and Pokemon mystery dungeon. I've only ever been in one western but it proved to be a lot of fun. It gave the role-players opportunity to experience with all sorts of character types though I'm afraid it wasn't at all historically accurate. I'm still unsure whether or not I'd like to include some fantasy elements.
Finally, Pokemon. Everyone is familiar with it in some form or another. While not everyone has played the Mystery Dungeon Games, the premise is simple. Strange dungeons have begun to crop up everywhere as a sign of some impending global disaster and Pokemon form teams to venture out, explore the dungeons and save the troubled Pokemon trapped within.

I dig the idea of a pirate roleplay, but I think Medieval Fantasy would be a great starting point for the Grotto. It's a genre that's very easy to create interesting scenarios for.

I like the idea of the western RP as well. I have to admit I've never been in one of those so I won't be very knowledgeable about the genre (my only experience with Western stories is whatever movie I walk in on my dad watching) but I'd be up for a spin in either of those!

Okay, confession: I have been DYING to roleplay in a Pokemon Roleplay. When original Grotto Pokemon didn't get off of the ground (which I claim as fully my fault :c), and then when the gijinka RP didn't happen, a large hole formed in my soul that hasn't been filled.
That being said...
All of those others also sound like things that I would be interested in. I have been meaning to research those time periods more in depth, because I have a very basic knowledge (but a fairly moderate knowledge of all of the Jesus pix throughout the medieval world) of the history surrounding those timeframes. I'm always up for a little bit of fantasy in genres -- especially when surrounded by people who are competent. c:

I'm glad you brought that up, Sypon, because Yama and Dou have been planning on making their own Pokemon RP with gijinkas and whatnot. I don't know any of the details or when that will open but I thought I would give you all a heads-up that regardless of which way the poll goes, there is that to consider as well.
In addition, I will definitely be creating a Mystery Dungeon RP at some point because I suspect that there is more than enough interest and because I personally have been wanting to create one since I started playing the damn games. So it will happen.
On another note, I wanted to say that I have been working on the Sages, slowly but steadily. I've been reworking many aspects and trying to plan the story better. When I get closer to finishing organising everything I'll try to post another thread for it with information.
Finally, in the future, I do plan on starting another World of Warcraft RP. Sypon, if you would like to work with me on this, I would be eternally grateful.

Well, I've never played the Mystery Dungeon games, nor am I very familiar with westerns... But I'm willing to try anything at least once. Well, except that dish made of partially decomposed shark and the live baby octopus and... sweatdrop
But yeah, I'm up for just about anything. Certain topics will just take me longer to come up with a character for and I might flail a lot. I know absolutely nothing about WoW, so that would be harder for me to flail my way through than some other things xp
Reviving sages could be fun.
I really like medieval fantasy type stories, but modern fantasy may be interesting as well. If I come up with a good idea for something, I'll post it later and bounce ideas off of you guys.

I was considering starting it back up and have been thinking of ways to change it to make it more accessible (I mean, it's already extremely simple). (Does anyone who was in or enjoyed Kitchen have any suggestions, or should I just make it again? Part of the problem was that it was on the old forum, but if there were other things that need to be changed I'd love to know. c smile Also, Narujii, that sounds like buckets of fun.
