http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbfngqfFwJgA controlled setting where some of the best Jiu Jitsu fighters can test their Submissions, and ground games under the realistic stress of strikes....I might give it a shot...Don't get me wrong...I'm a great striker as well....But this looks like fun.... Fight starts just after 15:00

Sabre809 unfairfriend This sounds extremely cool .... where do they do this? Well the video was the first ever form of this ... So I'm not sure how, or when they'll start letting everyone else do it ... Sad really ... They should, it's a weakness I noticed when I moved from karate as my baseline to wrestling and testing some bjj. Some positions are perfect to just rip a knee or punch straight to the face. That's excluding ground striking, but it's more from stand up to ground that I think a grappler should work on. The only person I have tried shooting on that continues with striking was my cousin who was more a boxer/street fighting than ground game guy. It was fun and helps you work a set up to shot, most guys go straight to grappling instead of sticking to their neutral position while it's their. (they should continue this program)

(they should continue this program) Yeah, you can't exactly stall when punches are raining down on you ... When I roll with my friends I tend to do play punches, not real ones, I just mimic a punch motion, and I go, "Bang bang bang" to see if they do something about it, and usually they will ... It really gets you use to having strikes thrown at you so it strengthens that weakness making that aspect of your Jiu Jitsu even greater ... So if you can work on your striking, then once you step into the cage in Ammy MMA you can do well in all aspects of the fight ... Also Eddie Bravo really is trying to get this thing going too ...

The true essence of any martial art is to allow ones self to evolve from simply utilizing technqiues to comprehending and understanding principles and how they apply to combat, motion, ect. Its good people and the sport of BJJ to finally start breaking out of its mold and incorporating other ideas, like strikes, into the equation. Everything we apply standing up, can be applied on the ground: striking, grappling, moving, locking, frame breaking, everything. One must simply train their body, mind, and spirit to understand this principle first and foremost
