Flying classes are held in a grassy courtyard with benches all around the outside.
Lesson Plans*: Mounting, Hovering, Touch downs, Safe ways to fall, Turning
*If you have no teacher/ You're teacher is away/Innactive, then follow the lesson plans. This doesn't mean you learn all of the above in one lesson. Choose one plan, and have fun for that lesson.

"Up!" Emily shouts at the broom. It stayed on the ground pretending nothing was happening. She was getting frustrated. "Grrrrrrr, up!" she shouted again. Was she doing it right? "UP!...please?" The broom shot into her hand. Hmmm, Emily thought, all it took was please. Why hadn't she thought about it before?

With the broom in her hands Emily swung her leg over it, planting her feet firmly on the ground. She pushed off, hovered a little, then came to the ground again. Riding a broom was easy for her, and it was fun. To think I've been missing this, she thought.

Sara walked onto the field, and saw a girl flying ... with a broom! After the girl landed she noticed Sara staring at her and started walking toward her. Stay still Sara, she told herself, she's only coming over to say hi.

"Hello, I'm Emily, and you are...?" Emily asked the girl that was watching her earlier. She could tell the girl was shy. But she looked her age.

"I'm Sara," she told Emily. To make friends you treat them like you've known them since preschool, Sara remembered her mom telling her. Sara tried to be funny. "I'm just taking a wild guess but...is this flying?" she asked.
Emily Bergen
Emily giggled. "Yes this is flying," she said. Emily came to the conclusion that Sara will be a good friend. "Just wondering, what house are you in? I've never seen you before," Emily said.

"I'm in Ravenclaw," Sara said. She could tell Emily wasn't very observant. Sara thought Emily should know by her robes she's in Ravenclaw. Sara looked at Emily's robes. "You must be in Hufflepuff," she said.
Emily Bergen
"Yes. How did you know? Are you a mind reader?" Emily asked. She remembered Sara looked at her robes. Realization hit Emily. "Oh duh, my robes! Why did it take that long for me to notice?" she said.
