Canons
Players
Neku Sakuraba: Played By: Demon Prince Azure - Neku's personality is generally unsociable; he claims he "doesn't get people", and because of this, he usually dislikes interacting with other people. His opinion of others is so low that he tends to see people only for their use. Neku refuses company, as he feels that friends only drag him down, cause him pain when they fail him and make him feel like "unnecessary baggage" to them. Neku sees society as simply an annoyance that forces their values on him, pester him and expect him to do things he doesn't want to do. As such, he admires the designer CAT for their motto, "do what you want, how you want, when you want".

Shiki Misaki - Shiki tries to the best of her abilities to help others. She is generally positive and upbeat; however, despite her happy attitude, Shiki feels inferior and useless to others, making her jealous of her idols. Shiki attempts to turn these feelings into positive ones and not let them affect her. Shiki is shown to be a talented seamstress, making even her own clothes.

Joshua Kiryu - Joshua is an extremely intelligent character with a refined taste and knowledge for the world around him. Unfortunately, these traits are often overshadowed by his constant air of arrogance. He prefers to think and act by himself, always keeping his intentions mysterious, and is difficult to predict. Joshua very rarely gets honestly worked up (and is usually lying when he appears to be), and is always teasing when he is not sharing information. These snobby qualities always make him appear condescending and antagonistic — especially to Neku. Nevertheless, his long history with Hanekoma has ignited a bond of trust between the two. Despite his interpersonal issues, he remains a mature and wise person at heart underneath his attitude.

Beat - Beat tries his best to act tough, but he's really a softie underneath. He gets embarrassed whenever people realize this. He is also highly embarrassed by his real name, which reflects his soft nature. At the same time, Beat is very loud and impulsive, and tends to come to conclusions without reason. He's a little dense and can't pick-up complicated insults to him immediately, but eventually figures things out. Nevertheless, he's a bighearted person who would do anything for his friends. Before he entered the Reapers' Game, he was much like Neku, uncaring and pushing his sister away from him, because he didn't like being pitied by his little sister. With the discovery that Rhyme has lost her memories, he lies that his dream was to become the best skateboarder in the world, as truly he has no dreams.

Rhyme - While Beat acts aggressive and impulsive, Rhyme balances him out with her calm demeanor. She is always wearing a smile and is kind to everyone she meets. Always optimistic and reasonable, Rhyme manages to keep everyone organized when she's around. Her young and pure heart is impossible to hate and gives her great love and loyalty. She has no dreams except to help Beat.

Reapers
Uzuki Yashiro - Uzuki Yashiro is the hotheaded partner-in-erasing of Koki Kariya. She wears a gloved sweater with a white corset and a pair of black shorts along with knee high white boots. The players call her "Pinky" because of her short pink hair and vibrant lipstick (though she's apparently touchy about this, telling Beat to "leave my hair out of this" the first time he uses the nickname to her face). She has been working as a Reaper for two years. Unlike many of her colleagues, Yashiro is completely obsessed with her work. Though she has a low rank among the Reapers, she is a perfectionist in every aspect when it comes to her occupation. When she is restricted from working hard, it drives her crazy. Yashiro, like all of the Harrier Reapers, has a total disregard for the lives of Players. She values each competitor as little as trash or a Noise.

Koki Kariya - Although rumored to have high-level abilities, Kariya would much rather sit back and relax than exert effort in completing his assignments. Kariya explained to an enraged Uzuki that he declined a promotion because being an officer meant that he couldn't be out and about in Shibuya; he would only strut around looking important all day, a life he sees as boring. He is always holding a bean paste lollipop and is exceptionally cool-headed. Kariya spends most of his time playing games with Uzuki which he usually wins. The loser of these games treats the winner to a bowl of ramen. They play these games even with serious subjects, such as finding out the origin of the Taboo Noise. He enjoys an easy, fun life, the exact opposite of his partner, Uzuki. Despite the differences in attitudes and goals, Uzuki and Kariya are friends and work incredibly well together, fighting like two halves of a whole.

Yodai Higashizawa - He chose to follow tradition and wait until late in the game to make his appearance in the game, as opposed to Minamimoto and Konishi who both revealed themselves to the Players early on. His Noise form is a giant, bipedal ram with wings. He is shown to be the only high-ranking officer (Gamemaster and up) to regularly don reaper wings, while most others only reveal them when converting to Noise forms.
He takes great pride in his overwhelming strength and ability to split the ground in two. He also speaks with constant references to food. He has a soft side among the group, as he gets very emotional very quickly. He and Minamimoto didn't get along very well.

Sho Minamoto - Sho Minamimoto is the youngest Game Master of the Reapers in Shibuya at 18, and the second Game Master Neku battles. It is revealed he excels in all areas of leadership except one -- he will not cooperate with others. More of a mathematician than a brawler, Sho loves to speak in mathematical terms and cannot refrain from making a calculation or from telling a math joke during conversation, to the point of obsession and perhaps mental instability. Arrogant and willing to show it in whatever way necessary, he ceaselessly tries to prove his value and his strength. He has a strange habit of gathering together junk heaps when playing the part of game master, claiming that they are a precisely calculated form of art; this can be viewed as performance art reflecting his views that "The world is garbage" and lacks any beauty.

Mitsuki Konishi - Konishi at first seems very loyal to the Composer and the Conductor and often demands respect when the Reapers of lower status address them. But this is just a ruse; she's truly very cold and manipulative and will do anything she sees fit to meet her own ends. Because of her passive personality and her relatively cold demeanor, she has gained the nickname "Iron Maiden" (which Beat spitefully warps into "Ironface" ). Her goal is to become the new Conductor, and she will do anything to achieve that goal. She used Kariya and Uzuki to stall for time during Neku and Beat's mission to find her, or betray Kitaniji and side with the resurrected Sho Minamimoto, reasoning that Kitaniji will either be defeated or be weakened enough from the battle that she can erase him herself. She even states that she doesn't care what happens to Minamimoto, as long as she gets to be Conductor (according to Beat, everyone is a pawn to her). When confronted by Beat, she makes it clear how little she tolerates idiocy. She will still resort to trickery and mind games to deal with those she considers an annoyance.

Megumi Kitaniji - Kitaniji is the Conductor of the Reaper's Game. He is the direct superior of Game Masters Yodai Higashizawa, Sho Minamimoto, and Mitsuki Konishi. In turn, he is the direct subordinate of the Composer. On the surface, his job is to ensure that the Game is played exactly to the Composer's specifics. Never seen without his sunglasses or large red headphones, Megumi Kitaniji cuts a surprisingly imposing figure as the Conductor of the game. He's sinister without being over the top, and keeps a level head as his subordinates disobey him and attempt to break the rules of the Game. At the same time, his attitude toward the players is that "nothing is sacred". He typically takes a "wait-and-see" stance with the other Reapers, being more the type to lead from the shadows rather than take charge from the front lines, though he will do so if necessary. He has a general dislike and mistrust of people and seems to love the city of Shibuya more than anything else.
