Roleplaying Tools
. believe in the me that believes in you .

Hi! Roleplaying can be hard (sometimes). Especially roleplaying Homestuck, with all its quirks and colors to be mastered. For those of you that are new or want to have something to look to as gospel (short of Hussie himself), you can check out this thread. I'll try to keep as much useful information here as possible.

. color codes .

I was able to find some nifty pages that list off the various color codes that can be used for the different characters in Homsetuck. You can find an even more complete list of color codes here.

. quirks .

Beta Kids:
John Egbert -
regular syntax, does not capitalize the first letter of his sentences, occaaaaaaaasionally multiplies vowels and ending punctuation by eight (due to Vriska's influence).
Rose Lalonde -
Perfect grammar and syntax.
Dave Strider - no capitalization unless stressed, no punctuation except for occasional ellipsis and single/multiple question marks
Jade Harley -
no capitalization or use of apostrophes, but frequent emoticon use and an overall enthusiastic attitude!! : )
Jane Crocker -
Speaks with perfect grammar and syntax, and uses the occasional emote! :B
Jake English -
No capitalization after the first letter of a sentence. No apostrophes only terminal punctuation. Tends to use asterisks when *emphasizing* something. Also encases actions in asterisks and uses emoticons with asterisks. Also tends to CAPITALIZE for emphasis. SOMETIMES EVEN CAPITALIZES AN ENTIRE SENTENCE. Frequently employs peculiar vocabulary and syntax when conversing with compatriots or any individual for that matter.
Roxy Lalonde -
frequet spelling errors, assumed to be due to drunkeness
*frequent
*will correct some errors by prefacing the next line with an asteriks
*asterisk
no consistent punctuation
no capitalization except for EMPHASIS
uses some abbreviations like atm idk fyi or lmao
occasionally uses the :3 emoticon.

Dirk Strider -
Perfect grammar and syntax. More kickin' rad subtleties than can be spelled out, yo. Also uses bropuns at times.
Trolls:
Aradia Megido -
Alive/ghost: replaces o's with 0's and no punctuation (other than in "0_0") after self-pr0t0typing, random "ribbit"s
God Tier: no capitalization or punctuation, uses exclamation points and question marks. Is generally more responsive/emotional.

Tavros Nitram -
iNVERTED cASE; uses commas excessively and in place of periods; adds a } in front of smileys to represent his large horns
Sollux Captor -
Pre-blind: Replaces "s" with "2"; doubles all "i"s; writes "to" and "too" as "two"
Blind: Replaces "o" with "0"s; is a lot more 0kay with everything
Half-Dead: Replaces every other "o" with "0".

Karkat Vantas -
ALL CAPS. PERFECT SYNTAX. USES ASTERISKS TO EMPHASIZE WORDS.
Nepeta Leijon -
Starts all sentences with :33 < and replaces double E's with 33, both to represent the two mouths of her lusus. Uses cat puns whenever pawsible! :33
Kanaya Maryam -
Capitalizes the first letter of every word. Omits punctuation. Speaks in a very articulate and verbose manner.
Terezi Pyrope -
All caps (or all lowercase when whispering), leetspeak (A, I, and E replaced by 4, 1, and 3, respectively). Smilies have angled mouths (brackets rather than the normal parentheses), with a greater-than symbol representing her horns or eyebrows. She does use commas, question marks, and exclamation points. Doesn't use apostrophes or periods (unless as "...")
Vriska Serket -
Replaces "b" and "eight sounds" with the number 8, multiplies vowels and ending punctuation by 8 for emphasis, uses 4 colons (8 eyes) for smilies. When frustrated, replaces vowels with the letter 8 more liberally, as seen when confronting ghost Aradia.
Equius Zahhak -
With Bow and Arrow at the ready ("D -->"), he takes eƎption to 100d language unbefitting of b100 b100ds. Capitalizes STRONG, all derivatives, and the first letter of sentences. No ending punctuation. Replaces the word "nay" with "neigh," along with various other horse/cow puns.
Gamzee Makara -
Stoned (Pre-Sgrub): Uses normal grammar, end punctuation, and AlTeRnAtInG lEtTeRs. Uses '********' and variations of it a lot.
Stoned (During and Post-Sgrub): Stops using end punctuation. Alternating caps pick up a new pattern. Punctuation and spaces are now counted as "letters", so iT'S GoInG To lOoK A LiTtLe sOmEtHiNg lIkE ThIs.
Sober: Changes from all caps. TO NO ******** CAPS BETWEEN LINES. Swears more than usual while on his uppercase lines. He kept this style after having the rage papped out of him, but is calmer overall.

Eridan Ampora -
Doubles 'w', doubles 'v', no 'g' in words ending in '-ing', e.g. "somethin", no punctuation, no capitalization, refers to trolls by shortened names (Feferi = fef, Kanaya = kan, Vriska = vvris), often uses "a" in place of "an" or "of" and "an" in place of "and"
Feferi Peixs -
Uses )( instead of an h, when using capital E's puts a hyphen before the E. Smilies also have a tiara and goggles 38D, also uses fish puns whenever she can.
Aranea Serket -
Normal grammar and syntax. Replaces "b" with the number 8. Uses the number 8 to replace "eight" sounds when angry or stressed. Multiplies letters and exclamation points by 8 sometimes.
Meenah Peixes -
No punctuation, uses all caps for emphasis, but text is otherwise uncapitalized. Uses )( and -E for capital H and E. Fish puns even more compulsively than Feferi. Slight elements of Eridan's accent (-in, gonna, etc). Replaces the eyes in emoticons with 8 for goggles and includes a 3 before to represent a tiara, like Feferi (e.g. 38D).
