Thunder roared outside the room that a single man sat in. He sat nestled among piles of books, as was his nature to read and research. He was a scientist of sorts, but more of a bookworm and an intellectual than anything. His latest stacks of books he brought back from the world of Xanolonia were doing quite well at keeping him absorbed. Xanolonia, of course, was an alternate plane that he'd somehow managed to enter through a split in the plane fabric. He had since set up a gate to travel back and forth between the two planes.
It was in the late hours that his tired eyes began to blur the words on the page of the thick book. It was at that moment, he thought he saw an alternate set of words on the page. He rubbed his eyes and looked at the page. Nothing. He sat back with a sigh. It must have been his imagination. It was late... and probably best he went to sleep anyway.
He started to close the book, but again, the flash or alternative text, this time seeming to glow from the page. He flung the pages open, looking feverishly at the book. this time, the words stayed lit, and it was then that he realized the moon light striking across the pages instead of his candlelight. He quickly blew the candle out, and let his eyes gaze over the glowing words.... They didn't make much sense. So he flipped back a few pages, and read more. Slowly, he realized it was a receipe. For what, it didn't say... Just it was for something that was alive.
He sat back again... realizing to create a living thing was no small feat. But what an extraordinary experiment! The rest of the night was spent copying down the glowing words onto parchment. There was not much he could do tonight, but certainly in the day he would be able to gather the necessary elements to create these! Of the thick pages of the Grimoire, he was able to extract the necessarily procedures for 4 of the 'creatures' listed before dawn beat back the moon.
After several hours of sleep, the renewed Spork was up and about looking through the ingredients list. It was then he stopped. He could almost fully create these... however, they were soul-bound to a person. It was then he realised that he alone could not harness all four.
He made his way to the shop he kept, a modest shop in Gaia's marketplace. And there he tacked up a sign on the door saying:
Spork's Note
I shall need the assistance of 4 individuals. Each shall need to bring me an item of great value to them, though not in the monetary sense. A great sentimental value. With this item I shall create for you a companion to keep you company during your travels
Inside, there were 4 peculiar items: A seed, a shell, a cloud, and an eternally burning flame in a jar. They were simply put in a display case labeled: "Do not Touch"
How to answer this prompt: Over the next 50 pages of Xanolonia's thread - from now until page 400 - Spork will be picking 4 people who are IN CHARACTER as their Gaian (Avatar or another human-like gaian-based entity) to present their items to the element of their choice. That said, this is an RP BASED contest. So, grammar, creativety, good RP, and showing your ability to stay consistently in character to RP over several posts will win you the event.
Basic things to keep in mind:
-Cost will be 10K per winner. You've got 50 pages of posts to make sure you've got it ready.
-No, you'll not be able to know what they'll look like beforehand. Obviously, even IC Spork does not know.
-This is *not* an event for your Xanolonians! Meaning; ANYONE can enter.
-These creatures will be Gaian-based, not Xanolonia-based.
-They will be RP required to grow (Minimal 2 IC posts per month)
-And while not initially linked to the world of Xanolonia, there will be a time that they will cross into it.
