Introduction to roleplays

This Forum if for original roleplays, with characters and stories that you completely make up yourself.

Now While any one is free to make a roleplay, there are a few steps you need to take, you can't just post anything from the top of your head in here. to Create a new Roleplay you must do the following:

Step 1: Suggest the RP in the thread titled "Rp ideas" Found Here (not to be confused with the series Based roleplay idea thread)
Step 2: Wait for other members to give their opinions of it (these things are meant to be for everyone, so its only far they get a say)
Step 3: When you have the basic story make a discussion thread for your RP
Step 4: You finally can post your Rp, but before you start posting in it you still have a step to go
Step 5: Post a bio in the Bio's thread.

After completing these steps you can then start your roleplay.
It might seem like a lot of work, but this system is to make sure that firstly, you're willing to work with others on your roleplay, and secondly, you are willing to but effort into getting the roleplay up and running.

Anyone that doesn't follow these steps will have their thread deleted, and if they throw up a fuss about it getting deleted, may get a warning.

Roleplaying Etiquette

Your character has to be of reasonable strength, there can be no "god moding" which is to say your character can't be all-powerful in any way.

Also, the only character you control is yourself or npc's, usually which you invent. You may not control other players in any way. The exceptions are when you expressly ask permission. You may however control an NPC or non-playing character.

Please keep it clean: PG13. You will get ONE warning if you post something that is out of line. I'm not mean enough to ban you from the guild because of a second offense, but i will probably disallow you from that particualr rp. This is usually done by taking control of your character and killing them.

Copious violence is to be expected in an rp, but please keep the immoral stuff to a minimum. no killing children or super descriptive torture, basically keep it in good taste.

On that note, there is to be no cybering whatsoever! This is not difficult to understand in the slightest, and I have a particularly low tolerence for it. Any post with any sexual content will get a warning and the post will be deleted. I'm not saying you can't let your characters have relationships, I'm just saying if you can't do it outside, don't do it here.

If there are any questions feel free to post in the Discussion forum. Thank you.

Joining Roleplays

Firstly, you must make a character. It should be one that fits the surroundings in the story you will be joining.
When making this character, you should make a bio,For which a basic Bio skeleton is in the first post of the Bio Thread, which can be changed to suit the Roleplay.
Once your Bio is made, find a character to meet up with, it can be difficult to work yourself into a roleplay on your own.
If you wish to say something as yourself, outside of the RP, to avoid confusion, put such comments in a ((double parenthesis)) like so. Players will write back and forth by usually paragraphs, although occasionally more, taking turns.

That's the basics.

Roleplaying tips

Just some little unspoken rules I've observed in past roleplays

1: The main character of a story is the one with the most posts, don't think you can steal the show within a few posts.

2: The Longest lasting characters are the ones with clear goals, for example: taking down a dirty corporation, breaking an ancient curse they or a loved one has been struck with, saving the girl, and so on.

3. Be Active but not too active. Its a bit infuriating to go to bed and wake up the next with five pages to read. It also makes it very difficult to direct a story without plot holes when everyone is running off ahead of you.

4. Be active, in general. its far more infuriating when your waiting two weeks for someone to post, especially if the person is a main character. I've been guilty of this in the past, but I've also been a victim of it. If your not going to be active for a while, let people know so they can work around it. Also Don't sign up for a roleplay your not going to be involved in for a while.

5. Don't be afraid to let your character get beaten to a pulp in a fight, I know everyone wants to look like a badass, but often the characters people seem to like are the ones that overcome impossible odds, that grow and get stronger as time goes by.

6. Have a villian, this is why High-school roleplays don't last very long, there isn't any force to unite people and draw them together. And I'm not saying it can't be done, but having a force like that really helps.
