There were a handful of hunters that Syd enjoyed sparring with. Rin was at the top of her list. So when she started her new regiment of sparring--growing stronger--she was one of the first people that Syd went to.
Which, y'know, wasn't that big of a deal, because they were constantly sparring anyway. "Usual thing?" she said as she stretched out on the training ground, lifting her arms high over her head and leaning back slightly as her fingers laced together. "Loser buys lunch?"

"Yep," Rin replied with a cool smirk as she gave her neck a not so subtle crack, "It's been a while so don't b***h if I'm rusty."
With that she summoned Byr to her hands and offered a testing swing or two.

"I was recently killed by an illusion," Syd said, touching her choker and summoning Izy to her hands. "Which really, really sucks." She checked him over, making sure he was in perfect form, then looked over at the other female.
"Although I am rather glad I wasn't in the same cell as you--I think I still see some p***s art on people when walking down the hall. Was that a permanent marker?"

"Oh? Try over and over and over again," Rin gave Byr one last testing swing and then came at Syd full force, "Of course it was permanent, wouldn't have it any other way!"
Byr's blade danced across Syd's fear shield and she made no move to go back.

"True," Syd said. "We'll get revenge," she promised the other girl. They had blown up their islands--she hadn't understood why before this, but she did now. "They can be killed, we know that, at least. I'm only sorry we can't blow up their islands again."
She was too busy jumping out of range to get a very good shot in. The arrow she sent flying barely glanced against Rin's fear shield. Ah well. She'd forgotten how hard the other girl hit.

Rin had prepared to lash out with Byr again but Syd dove out of her range completely, "Hah, I plan on it. I don't intend to get captured again, either!"
She tried running in a loop around Syd to avoid being shot again.

"We get stronger. We hunt them down one by one. And we kill them all," Syd decided. "There's one way to find them--going into that freaky haunted house is supposed to work, right?"
They had taken Rin. They had taken Wash and Sasha and Otto and even Ami. They deserved to die for whatever it was they'd done to the hunters. She brought up Izy, aiming and pulling the trigger.

Rin felt the arrow dig into her fear with a grunt before charging in again to attack at close range, "I don't know about horsemen but-"
She leapt back and attempted to try and evade Syd's sights again, "- there's baby monsters who show up there. You know; from Ammity?"

Syd thought about it. "It would make for good training," she said. "The older, more experienced ones can be dangerous. Isra--" she fell silent, frowning as she wondered what exactly had happened there. "Was a hard hitter."
She brought up her crossbow, shooting another glancing blow before racing out of reach again. Rin liked close combat--Syd didn't.

"Maybe," Was all she offered before charging back in again. Syd was right; Rin really did like close combat. She liked it a lot. She slammed Byr's blade hard in the direction of Syd's arm.
Nice yourself, don't lose focus though!

The hit hurt. She unconsciously pulled the trigger at point blank range as she was hit, the arrow slamming hard right into Rin's stomach. A point blank shot from Syd HURT.
She took advantage of the hit to jump backwards, racing away as far as she could while Rin recovered.

Syd did not get very far as despite the throbbing pain of the horrendous low blow, Rin swept Byr out catching Syd rather hard across the back, "Close~"

Syd grunted, kicking out just to trying throw Rin off before she started running again. She turned when she felt she'd gotten far enough away, grinning slightly even though her FEAR shield was at less than half. That wasn't surprising, Rin hit seriously hard.

Rin was running after Syd again but what else was new? She was so tired that when she finally caught up she barely even scraped her before she was gone again, "Come back here you!" her tone playful and anything but serious.

"I don't think so," Syd said, moving away again. "You hit too hard for me to just stick around and take it! I'm a Mist, not an idiot," she said, running off a few more steps before turning and taking her shot. It hit straight on.
