The kitchen is where the House Elves live. They prepare the meals for all the pupils and teachers at Hogwarts and every night, when the pupils sleep, they tidy their common rooms.
Generally, only elves enter the kitchen though it's not against the rules to go to the kitchen. It's just very hard to find it. Unless you know every inch of the castle, or have been told by others on its where-abouts, it's unlikely for you to be able to get into the kitchen.

The House Elves were worried, and fussing over their food. "Child is ill!" They mumbled and murmured "Us elves made child ill?" "Which dish?" "Who cooked?" "Is child well yet?" "What will elves do?"

Telia raced into the kitchens, anger and exhaustion battling for supremacy. She plopped down to rest, her tongue out as she panted and looked around for Atos. I don't need him any more! I've got plenty of friends and I have Atos too! Who need the grouchy old guy!

The elves all stopped and stared at Telia. They knew that they had to be polite, and usually they would be delighted, but their peace had been thoroughly disturbed with the threat of a childs death and the ministry hanging like a poison above them.
"Miss Telia," Atos said at last, and stepped away from where his family huddled in misery. He bowed respectfully, but he wasn't in much of a mood for formalities either. "What can Atos do for Miss Telia?" he asked.

Telia looked up at Atos sadly before she just shook her head before laying it on top of her paws. She didn't want to get in anyone's way though, so she stood and ambled slowly over to a corner where she would be out of the way of all of the house elves before slowly laying down. Her argument with Professor Papers flashed through her again and a low, quiet whine erupted from her.

Atos sighed and moved over to her "Miss Telia, Atos hopes that Miss understands that The Ministry is coming? The Ministry would question elves for having a dog in the kitchen, Miss Telia." he tried to explain, when suddenly an elf popped into the kitchen "They're coming here now!" he squeaked. Atos disappeared and reappeared with a blanket that he covered her with, but it only went up to the top of her head. He put a finger to his lips and moved back to his family protectively.Three ministry men walked in. Two were Aurors, but the third looked mysterious and scary. "Bring the Twice Cooked Pork to me." he said dramatically and an elf brought it over on its original platter. "I will be back before lunch." The mysterious guy seemed to decide, before snatching up the platter and turning to the Aurors. "Do as we discussed." The man told them as he was leaving. As soon as he was gone, Auror One pulled out his wand eagerly. Usually interrogation had limitations, violence wasn't an option, especially with pure bloods. However, the law didn't protect little elves, and he felt pretty cocky. "I'll give you all one chance to answer this question, before I force you to answer the question." he told them, and looked around at the elves "What happened to the pork?" None of the elves moved, so Atos stepped forward and bowed low. "Sir, no elf understands what has happened to the pork." he told him, still bowing. "Us elves followed the recipe given, and it did not seem bad to us."Auror Two walked through the kitchen, looking at all of the wide eyed elves untrustingly. "Were there any ingredients that you'd never used before?" he asked as he walked back to Atos. Atos looked up at him, leaving his bowing position "No sir, us elves have used the recipe before. There was nothing wrong with it then." Atos felt relieved that the second Auror had butted in, because the first one looked set to rip of his arm. "Us elves cooked it the same ways as before.""What are you saying elf? That a student or a teacher did something to that food?" The first Auror poked him with his wand "Are you saying that the students should be the ones questioned here?" Atos shook his head "No, no sir! Not at all! The students and teachers would not do such things. Atos is just telling sir that us elves did nothing but cook the pork-" he tried to explain."Then why did a child nearly die last night?" he spat. He put his wand under a strap of Atos's clothing and threw him across the kitchen "Do you understand that you elves nearly killed an innocent person?" He moved over to the elf sprawled across the floor and pressed his foot down on his leg gently "If it wasn't the people at Hogwarts, then what other magical being would be able to do something like that to the pork?" He pushed about half of his weight onto the elf's feeble leg "What are you suggesting?" Atos could barely take a breath because of the pain. He could feel his bones wanting to give in, wanting to snap, but there wasn't quite enough pressure on it allowing it to do that. Tears rolled down his face as he tried to answer "Pl-please, Atos doesn't-- AHah, please- Atos doesn't know!" he clenched his fists in attempt to lesson his agony "Please, elves only serve-" he stopped to swallow a sob.The second Auror looked disgusted as his partner, but he knew he couldn't stop him. It was his partner who was in charge here, strictly speaking, not him. However, he did let out a little protest "Loosen up a bit, sir, the elf can't speak." The first Auror grinned at him, knowing that he hated mistreatment of any kind to anything. "Yeah he can, he's talking now, aren't you?" he pushed down slowly onto the elf "What could have caused it?" he demanded. Atos screamed, desperately thinking of something to stop this man "THE PIG!" he screeched as he felt his bones start to shudder and groan. The Auror removed his foot suddenly "What?" Atos shuffled away hurriedly, and clutched his bad leg, tears still sneaking down his face "Maybe the pig ate something. Something magic, Atos does not know. No elf knows, us elves just cook and clean. Us elves are only made to serve, us elves would never want to harm students or teachers." He swallowed as he moved back into a wall.

Telia stiffened at what she was hearing and a low, almost inaudible growl started to build in her throat. All she wanted to do was leap out and take down this jerk of a guy who was threatening Atos. However, sheforced herself to swallow the growl and stay completely still as the abuse continued. When Atos offered the suggestion of the pig eating something magical, Telia almost cheered and her tail twitched before she could stop it. She quickly forced it back down to the ground and she froze, hoping the Ministry officials hadn't seen it.

The second Auror noticed movement under some sort of sack, but he kept quiet about it, and looked at the elf. "Can any anything get in here, like a rat or a pixie?" Atos shook his head "No sir, the kitchen has many charms. Only witch, wizard and house elves can enter." he promised them. The first Auror scowled "Fine, we'll check out where you get your meat from, but if it's muggles, you're going to get it." He grabbed the elf and threw him over to where Telia lay hidden, so that he hit the cabinets and collapsed onto her blankets. "Let's go find that professor." he growled "But we were only given orders to let him know when we were coming. It's up to him if he wants to talk-" he began, but stopped when his colleague turned on him. His eyes narrowed and the first Auror held out his hand "Give me the map, if you don't want to come along." he challenged "But if you do, you better not come between us. I'm in the mood to hit." "I was just reminding you of the orders." he replied warily "I'll come. The map says it's this way..." [exit] Atos wheezed, and slid off from Telia weakly "Aurors are after professor?" he murmured to Telia "Miss Telia, Atos must go to him. Should Atos leave Miss Telia here?"

Telia gasped for breath when Atos landed on her hard and she forced herself out of the blankets when the Aurors left. She growled at Atos' question before she sniffed at the air experimentally. To her surprise, she could pick up a hint of Professor Papers' bird and human form. She barked excitedly before gesturing to the door with her head and ran towards it, hoping Atos would get the message.

Atos reached out his hand "Miss Telia, Atos cannot walk. Atos can take Miss Telia to Professors room."

Telia face-pawed herself embarrassde before trotting over to sit expectantly right next to Atos' hand. 'Let's go then!' she tried to say, but what came out were three short barks and a sneeze.
