So, I have a roleplay I have been playing in for the past year or so, but the world I made it in, isn't really so well developed. There are hints of it whenever necessary, but the rest is just hiding inside my head. I would like to put it up as a thought, maybe eventually bring it up as its' own rp if anyone is interested.

The world:

Modern Earth, 2010. Our very world, with a few surprises. The humans think that they are alone, but the answer is obviously not as such. Demons and other things go bump in the night, and our very protectors are things that also rise from the horror books of legend. Vampires. Long ago, when the New World was still a century off, vampires became civilized, due to the workings of a man called Nicodemus. He believed that there was more to their existence than the constant slinking about in shades to do their evils in order to survive. Rather than murder constantly, he brought up the fact that a human a night was not necessary, that they only lived long enough to think from meal to meal, why not find out the greater purpose of their new lives? They needed to stop being so blatant in their powers and attacks, become a myth so that the hunts could cease.

Many agreed, and those that did not, fled or were slowly absorbed into the ranks of believers as they began to prosper. Things like hidden paradises for the night creatures began to make shape, popping up all over Europe and slowly bleeding over into Asia. Nicodemus formulated a council, those he deemed worthy of guiding their people. They delegated with their power, a ruling faction for each populated area in the world, so that their edicts could be maintained. Added to that, each realm or 'kingdom', was manned with a guardian, a loyal vampire that could enforce rules and train the young that wished to become defenders of their kind should the need arise.

Arise it did. In the form of feral demons and other ghastly creatures that hated their kind for turning their back on the pillaging of nights. Thus the training began and in such, it also brought about new discoveries of powers many of them could only dream of. Their elder brought forth the Crystal of Making, a powerful gem that was excavated from the very tomb of their Ancestor, Vlad Dracula. He had never evoked the true power from within, and thus had cast it aside in anger. Now Nicodemus pored over it from every angle, having spent years in secret finding its real abilities. The crystal gave its' chosen a great power, at the cost of a noble oath.

Each defender competed through trials to gain its' power, though the tasks were not always combat abilities or brute strength. The crystal chose only those it deemed worthy, and its' choosing forever was a mystery to the elder that found it. Thus only the highest and most clear of mind were gifted with a power. Symbols of their trial marked them as Guardian, usually something that was a previous belief or part of heritage in the form of a rune on the body. It instilled with them a type of magic that none could ever copy, for vampires could not wield it as those of the old religions could. Each power was different, but most centered upon the elements in some such way or another. An example, the current guardian of England and the other british isles was well versed in his power over ice.

Feral demons were the main cause of their constant behind the scenes battles, though there were new developments as they too began to evolve into higher beings. Those that chose to educate themselves, fled to the Americas, learning how to wield their own innate magics, while they left behind the dregs of their people to continue to torment the European continent. They found new enemies in the ferals that were already populating the New World.

Forgive me if I’m bouncing around a lot. I’m trying to get it all out of my head and see just what all is down.
