This rp is based off of Scandinavian mythology.
Scandinavia- Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and sometimes Finland, Iceland, and the Faeroe Islands.

Light Elves live just like any other species, they have families and jobs, and try to help out their fellow neighbors. When the Humans wanted to burn down the branch that holds their world together and life as they know it, that put the existence of their land into question. Immediately after their forces had started to rampage through their villages on the search for said branch (which isn't the only), the Elven people obtained the protection of the giants and the trolls. In turn for their protection, the giants and trolls had someone from the Council of the Elves sought to it that they had several dead bodies to feed them and keep their guardianship. Even though the humans have started on this path of destruction, they too have been stopped by a few blockades; their children aren't who they used to be, Gnomes have stolen their crops, they all don't know what will happen next.

There are changelings amongst the humans, but the HUmans aren't fully aware of that and don't quite understand what is happening with their children. They suspect that the witches are casting spells and controlling them, so the witches hide out amongst the elves and change their appearance to fit in. The Tomte are really the ones to blame, they are the ones that are in cahoots with the changelings. Some of those same witches have Goblins, who are loyal and act as their assistants to all of the witches. There are some times where they have to change their appearances too because the humans have followed them to the witches. When the Humans found out that a portion of the Elves were helping and hiding the witches, the Humans started to attack them; soon after the elves became distraught because the humans are damaging most of the branches that support each world and all connect to the tree of life, Yggdrasil((Just to be clear, these branches are huge and will take a lot to cut down or damage)).

The goblins are planning to double cross the witches, what they are planning is unknown--at the moment. Meanwhile, the humans not having any powers and limited forms of defense, have now gained the help of the Valravn. Being desperate, they grabbed any non-human child and fed it to the Valravn, so that they would morph into knight form. With all of this deception and the increase in murders, there has also been an increased amount of land and sea Draugrs. There is a large forest that is inhabited by many different groups of people. The varying species that live in the forest are the fairies, centaurs, a cyclops, huldras, a sleipnir, an Erlking, Rocs, wolves, and Griffins. The Erlking and the fairies work together to snag people who wander the forests, what they want to do to them is up in the air.

Each territory has it's own branch that keeps the land alive, and the region habitable. If any of these branches are burned, cut, or destroyed in any other way then that region will suffer tremendously. On the occasion that all nine branches are at any moment or time demolished, the tree of life that connects all land will relinquish life and the world won't be the same. The Valravn and dark elves are taking the Norns hostage, hoping that they can control the time and fate. What they don't know is that they do more than that, they keep Yggdrasil alive and they control the fate of the Gods. The gods know that the Norns are more powerful then they are, so they don't interfere because it could put their lives in jeopardy. Also, there are norns that don't have the best intentions of the world in mind. So the light elves, witches and fairies have teamed together to do their best to preserve it. Eventually time will run out and all of the life on this planet will perish.

1. Follow Gaia T.o.S.
2. Please keep spelling and grammatical errors to a minimum. Please talk in third person.
3. I reserve the right to ask you to change anything that I feel does not fit. ((Posting colors, background information...etc.))
4. There will be no racism, homophobia, sexism, none of that. I've never experienced or seen any of that happen but I don't want that to start. You will be kicked out if you do so.
5. Italics or apostrophes ( ' ) for thought, and quotations ( " ) for speaking, and (()) or [[]] for OOC. No asterisks (*)
6. No godmodding, powerplaying, auto-hitting or puppetting. Also, If you want to kill someone, or do anything remotely drastic to them you MUST get their permission first. No Gary-Stu or Mary-Sues. Everyone has their character flaws and their good points.
7. If you fight someone, please don't kill them without their permission, and I need you to PM before you post that you're doing so. Also, ghosts are allowed, but since this RP is based off of certain folklore I would talk to you about how the ghosts portray themselves and see if you would be up for that.
8. You can have as many characters as you think you can handle, please make it noted which character is doing what. Whether that is putting their name in bold above each post or using different text colors.
9. All text in the thread must be size 9 to 11. The colors can't be anything too bright or light.
10. Romance is allowed, no cybering, like the site says, you can hint at some stuff after you're done, or use varying euphemisms like "they slept together" and call it a day.
11. Cursing is allowed, but since there are younger people on this website you have to censor yourself and I'm not talking about "********" where no one knows what your saying, just so something like this: "s***" and you're all set. Please don't go overboard with the cursing though.
12. Please post at least twice a week. If you want to leave the roleplay or you aren’t going to be able to post for awhile please PM me and inform me of this and I'll inform the others.
13. Do not spam the RP. That means if only one other person is on besides you, do not post a billion times and take up one or more pages with only the two of you. It's one of the leading causes of RP death and it's annoying to sift through.
14. Profiles and Pre-mades must be sent to me before you start posting. Please do not post before your profile has been accepted.
15. Ok, so I've never done this before and I don't know how effective it will be, but when fighting I would like you guys to roll a 20-sided dice for every time you attempt to hit or dodge an attack. Depending on how high or low the number rolled ((not the total)) is, is how much pain your character should be in. It's as follows:

1-2-Barely hurt
3-4-A little sore
5-7-Mild discomfort
8-10-Distress
11-13-Moderate pain
14-16-Severe pain
17-18-Intense
19-20-Excruciating

So, if someone attempted to hit you twice, you would roll 2 dice. Also, because you can't see what the number is going to be while your typing up your response; please quickly roll the dice and then move on to what happens next. I honestly don't know if this will work, I hope it does, please please let me know if this is irritating or too bothersome to deal with.
16. If you break any of these rules you will get a warning first, the second you will be asked to leave for a week and then the third time will you be asked to make a final post for the end of your character and leave the RP permanently.
17. I reserve the right to change the rules without notice or warning, so check back often.

The water in this well was so sacred that everything that came in contact with it, became white as an eggshell. From this well came 2 birds, white as snow. They are called swans, and from them descended all the birds, that borne the name swans.

5. Valhalla- val-hal-uh

The doors are so wide that through every door, can 800 warriors walk side by side.the dead join the masses of those who have died in combat known as Einherjar, as well as various legendary Germanic heroes and kings, as they prepare to aid Odin during the events of Ragnarök. Before the hall stands the golden tree Glasir, and the hall's ceiling is thatched with golden shields. Various creatures live around Valhalla, such as the stag Eikpyrnir and the goat Heidrún, both described as standing atop Valhalla and consuming the foliage of the tree Laerad.

Bifrost was built out of fire, air, and water by the gods. The three materials gave the three colors Red “Fire”, Blue “Air”, and Green “Water.”

8. Gladsheim:Bright Home- glahts-heym
Gladsheim is a golden palace in Asgard where Odin's hall of Valhalla is located. Glaðdsheim is a meeting hall, containing twelve high seats where the male Asgardians hold council, located in Iðavöll in Asgard, near the hall of Vingólf where the Asgardian goddesses gathered.

13. Jotunheim yaw-toon-heym
Home of the Jotunns (Giants). The giants menace the humans in Midgard and are the sworn enemies of the gods in Asgard. The river Ifing separates Asgard from Jötunheim, the river never freezes over. Jotunheim consisted mostly of rocks, wilderness and dense forests, so the giants lived from the fish in the rivers, and the animals in the forest, because there was no fertile land in Jotunheim. The whole world was created from the corpse of the first Jotun, named Ymir. It was Odin and his brothers Vili and Ve, who killed Ymir. It lies in the snowy regions on the outermost shores of the ocean. Mimir's well of wisdom is in Jotunheim, beneath the Midgard root of the ash tree Yggdrasil. The stronghold of Utgard was so big that it was hard to see the top of it. And there the feared Jotun king Utgard-Loki lived. Utgard was carved from blocks of snow and glistening icicles.
http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n266/Anime_Fanatic_004/Everlasting Struggle/Jotunheim_Home_of_the_Giants.jpg

14. Vimur- Vim-oor
Vimur was the largest of the Elivagar Rivers, which were formed at the beginning of the world. The river went rushing though Jotunheim, the giantess Gjalp tried to raise the level of the river by urinating in the river. She wanted to drown the god Thor, but Thor threw a well-aimed stone at her, and she ran away.

15. Utgardoot-gahrd
Utgard was the place in Jotunheim, where the giant Skrymir tricked Thor with illusions. Útgarða-Loki, a great and devious giant featured in one of the myths concerning Thor and the other Loki who compete in rigged competitions held in the Outyards. These outdoor arenas contrast with the putrid, indoor cave where Útgarða-Loki is said to dwell, when chained, in the Gesta Danorum.

16. Mimisbrunnr- Mem-is-broo-nir
Mímisbrunnr is a well associated with the being Mímir, located beneath the world tree Yggdrasil. The well is located beneath one of three roots of the world tree Yggdrasil, a root that passes into the land of the frost jötnar where the primordial plane of Ginnungagap once existed. Also, the water of the well contains much wisdom, and that Odin's eye sacrifice to the well was in exchange for a drink from it.

17. Niflheim- niv-uhl-heym
Niflheim is a place of eternal cold, darkness, and fog, ruled over by Hel: abode of those who die of illness or old age.
Niflheim is one of the Nine Worlds and is a location in Norse mythology which overlaps with the notions of Niflhel and Hel. Niflheim was primarily a realm of primordial ice and cold, with eleven frozen rivers. It was one of the two primordial realms, the other one being Muspelheim, the realm of fire. Between these two realms of cold and heat, creation began when its waters mixed with the heat of Muspelheim to create a "creating steam". Later, it became the abode of Hel, a goddess daughter of Loki, and the afterlife for her subjects, those who did not die a heroic or notable death.

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n266/Anime_Fanatic_004/Everlasting Struggle/Niflheim2-1.jpg

18. Hvergelmir- huhv-er-yel-mir
Hvergelmir is the bubbling, boiling spring of cold in Niflheim. All cold rivers are said to come from here, and it was said to be the source of the eleven rivers, Élivágar. Above the spring, the serpent Nídhugg gnaws on one of the roots of the world tree, Yggdrasil.

19. Gjoll- Yohl
Gjöll is one of the eleven rivers traditionally associated with the Élivágar, originating from the wellspring Hvergelmir in Niflheim, flowing through Ginnungagap, and thence into the worlds of existence. In Hel, Gjöll is the river that flows closest to the gate of the underworld and is spanned by the bridge Gjallerbrú. The river is said to be freezing cold and have knives flowing through it. Gjoll was the river that divided the world of the dead from the living.

20. Elivagar- Ey-lee-va-gar
Élivágar (Ice Waves) are rivers that existed in Ginnungagap at the beginning of the world. The streams called Ice-waves, those which were so long come from the fountain-heads that the yeasty venom upon them had hardened like the slag that runs out of the fire,-these then became ice; and when the ice halted and ceased to run, then it froze over above. But the drizzling rain that rose from the venom congealed to rime, and the rime increased, frost over frost, each over the other, even into Ginnungagap, the Yawning Void. The eleven rivers traditionally associated with the Élivágar include the Svöl, Gunnthrá, Fjörm, Fimbulthul, Slíd, Hríd, Sylgr, Ylgr, Víd, Leiptr and Gjöll (which flows closest to the gate of Hel and is spanned by the bridge Gjallerbrú). The Élivágar also figure in the origin of Ymir, the first giant. Ymir was formed from the poison that dripped from the rivers. When the venomous yeast from the Élivágar froze to ice and overspread its banks it fell as rain through the mild air of Ginnungagap. The rime, infused with the cold of Niflheim from which the Élivágar find their source in the wellspring Hvergelmir, began to fill the void. It then combined with the life giving fire and heat of Muspelheim, melting and dripping and giving form to Ymir, progenitor of the rime giants or frost giants.

21. Gjallerbru ((Echoing Bridge))- yal-lar-broo
Gjallerbrú is a bridge spanning the river Gjöll in the underworld, which must be crossed in order to reach Hel. It is described as a covered bridge, "thatched with glittering gold", and figures most prominently in the story of Baldr, specifically when Hermód is sent to retrieve the fallen god from the land of the dead. When Hermód arrived at the bridge he was challenged by the giant maiden Módgud who demanded that he state his name and business before allowing him to pass. The giantess always has a challenge for whomever crosses and the bridge vibrates differently when a human or dead person crosses it.

22. Muspellheim- muss-pel-heym
It is the realm of fire. The fire giants and fire demons live there with their king is Surtr. It is fire; and the land to the North, Niflheim, is ice. The two mixed and created water from the melting ice in Ginnungagap. Muspelheim is filled with lava, flames, sparks and soot.
http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n266/Anime_Fanatic_004/Everlasting Struggle/Jotunheim_Home_of_the_Giants.jpg

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n266/Anime_Fanatic_004/Everlasting Struggle/The_Creation_of_the_world_Niflheim_Ginnungagap_Muspelheim.jpg

24. Midgard- mid-gahrd
The abode of humans in Norse mythology. It is inhabited by and known to humans in early Germanic cosmology, and specifically one of the Nine Worlds and in Norse mythology. Pictured as placed somewhere in the middle of Yggdrasil, Midgard is surrounded by a world of water, or ocean, that is impassable. The ocean is inhabited by the great sea serpent Jörmungandr (Midgardsormr), who is so huge that he encircles the world entirely, grasping his own tail.
http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n266/Anime_Fanatic_004/Everlasting Struggle/Midgard_Home_of_the_Humans.jpg

Vanir is one of the Nine Worlds and home of the Vanir, a group of gods associated with fertility, wisdom, masters of sorcery and magic; and the ability to see the future. Nobody knows what Vanir looks like. When the war between the Aesir and the Vanir ended, three of the Vanir came to live in Asgard, Njordand his children Freya and Freyr.

Svartalfarheim was the home of the Dark Elves. The dark elves hated the sun so they lived in the murky underground. They were hideous and could be a great pain in the neck to the humans many described them as being extreme annoying. The dark elves were nothing but trouble. Many thought that dark elves were also responsible for nightmares. These dark elves were called mare. A mare would sit on a sleeping person’s chest and whisper bad dreams to haunt the person. A mare could also haunt animals, particularly horses. The dark elves could not be exposed to the sun, if they got touched by the beams of light from the sun, they would instantly turn into stones.
http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n266/Anime_Fanatic_004/Everlasting Struggle/Location-svartalfheim.jpg

I will fill this in once I start to get questions from you guys.
If any of you have any ideas for the RP, you could always send it to me and I could make a poll.

1. The pre-made and accepted profiles, list of different species, and the profile skeleton are in this thread:
http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?page=1&t=23255989#342310375

Also, the reason all of the posts in the profile thread are separate from this thread because it seemed like it was too much to sift through all at once.
