I just want everyone to know, that none of these photos are mine, the photos I have up now are just temporary until I find the time to draw what I really want.

Also, all of the posts in this thread are separate from the main thread because it seemed like it was too much to sift through.

This rp is based off of Scandinavian mythology.
Scandinavia- Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and sometimes Finland, Iceland, and the Faeroe Islands.

Light Elves live just like any other species, they have families and jobs, and try to help out their fellow neighbors. When the Humans wanted to burn down the branch that holds their world together and life as they know it, that put the existence of their land into question. Immediately after their forces had started to rampage through their villages on the search for said branch (which isn't the only), the Elven people obtained the protection of the giants and the trolls. In turn for their protection, the giants and trolls had someone from the Council of the Elves sought to it that they had several dead bodies to feed them and keep their guardianship. Even though the humans have started on this path of destruction, they too have been stopped by a few blockades; their children aren't who they used to be, Gnomes have stolen their crops, they all don't know what will happen next.

There are changelings amongst the humans, but the HUmans aren't fully aware of that and don't quite understand what is happening with their children. They suspect that the witches are casting spells and controlling them, so the witches hide out amongst the elves and change their appearance to fit in. The Tomte are really the ones to blame, they are the ones that are in cahoots with the changelings. Some of those same witches have Goblins, who are loyal and act as their assistants to all of the witches. There are some times where they have to change their appearances too because the humans have followed them to the witches. When the Humans found out that a portion of the Elves were helping and hiding the witches, the Humans started to attack them; soon after the elves became distraught because the humans are damaging most of the branches that support each world and all connect to the tree of life, Yggdrasil((Just to be clear, these branches are huge and will take a lot to cut down or damage)).

The goblins are planning to double cross the witches, what they are planning is unknown--at the moment. Meanwhile, the humans not having any powers and limited forms of defense, have now gained the help of the Valravn. Being desperate, they grabbed any non-human child and fed it to the Valravn, so that they would morph into knight form. With all of this deception and the increase in murders, there has also been an increased amount of land and sea Draugrs. There is a large forest that is inhabited by many different groups of people. The varying species that live in the forest are the fairies, centaurs, a cyclops, huldras, a sleipnir, an Erlking, Rocs, wolves, and Griffins. The Erlking and the fairies work together to snag people who wander the forests, what they want to do to them is up in the air.

Each territory has it's own branch that keeps the land alive, and the region habitable. If any of these branches are burned, cut, or destroyed in any other way then that region will suffer tremendously. On the occasion that all nine branches are at any moment or time demolished, the tree of life that connects all land will relinquish life and the world won't be the same. The Valravn and dark elves are taking the Norns hostage, hoping that they can control the time and fate. What they don't know is that they do more than that, they keep Yggdrasil alive and they control the fate of the Gods. The gods know that the Norns are more powerful then they are, so they don't interfere because it could put their lives in jeopardy. Also, there are norns that don't have the best intentions of the world in mind. So the light elves, witches and fairies have teamed together to do their best to preserve it. Eventually time will run out and all of the life on this planet will perish.

((A lot of my references are from Wikipedia and the links that are under Resources ((Also, I'm sorry if you don't agree with my mixing of mythologies.))))

1. Berserker
Berserkers were Norse warriors who are reported in the Old Norse literature to have fought in a nearly uncontrollable, trance-like fury, a characteristic which later gave rise to the English word berserk. Berserkers are attested to in numerous Old Norse sources. Most historians believe that berserkers worked themselves into a rage before battle, but some think that they might have consumed drugged foods. It's been said that they wear the pelt of a wolf or bear when they entered battle.

2. Centaur-
In Greek mythology, a centaur is a member of a composite race of creatures, part human and part horse. They carry spears and shields and whatever other weapons they can make themselves or have made by the dwarves.

3. Changelings-
It is typically described as being the offspring of a fairy, troll, elf or other legendary creature that has been secretly left in the place of a human child. The apparent changeling could also be a stock or fetch, an enchanted piece of wood that would soon appear to grow sick and die. A human child might be taken due to many factors: to act as a servant, the love of a human child, or malice. Most often it was thought that fairies exchanged the children. Some Norwegian tales tell that the change was made to prevent inbreeding: to give trolls and humans new blood, humans were given children with enormous strength as a reward. In some rare cases, the very elderly of the Fairy people would be exchanged in the place of a human baby, and then the old fairy could live in comfort, being coddled by its human parents. Simple charms, such as an inverted coat or open iron scissors left where the child sleeps, were thought to ward them off; other measures included a constant watch over the child.

4. Cyclops-
In Greek mythology, a cyclops was a member of a primordial race of giants, each with a single eye in the middle of his forehead. They have an immense amount of strength.

5. Draugr-
A draugr (plural draugar), is an undead creature from Norse mythology, a subset of Germanic mythology. The original Norse meaning of the word is ghost, and older literature makes clear distinctions between sea-draug and land-draug. Draugar were believed to live in the graves of the dead, with a draugr being the animated body of the dead. As the graves of important men often contained a good amount of wealth, the draugr jealously guards his treasures, even after death. They wander around all of the worlds of Yggdrasil.

6. Dvergar (Dwarf)-
They are described to have skin color of Dvergar as 'pale' as a corpse. The hair color is 'black' (svartr). Dvergar or Norse dwarves are entities in Norse mythology associated with rocks, the earth, deathliness, luck, technology, craft, metal work, wisdom, and greed. They are sometimes identified with Svartálfar ('black elves'), and Døkkálfar ('dark elves'). Dwarves have some magic, they use runes and some of the dwarves that live amongst the stones have they own language that sounds similar to a bunch of echoes.

7. Dwarf Tribes:
((Lead firstly by Mótsognir their first ruler, secondly by Durinn, and finally by Dvalinn.))

7a. Motosognir:
Mótosognir is the creation of Odin and his brothers, Vili and Vé, who fashioned him out of Ymir's blood and bones in the form of a maggot. These Aesir later gave him a roughly humanoid appearance and a human-like intelligence, which the rest of the dvergar later inherited.

7b. Durinn:
In Norse mythology, Durinn is the name of a dwarf. He was the second created after the first and foremost dwarf Mótsognir. Durinn forged the magic sword Tyrfing with the help of Dvalin. Durin the Deathless, a character based on the Norse figure, is one of the founding fathers of the Dwarves.

7c. Dvalinn:
In Norse mythology, Dvalin is a dwarf who appears in several Old Norse tales. The name translates as "the dormant one" or "the one slumbering." Dvalin is listed as one of the four stags of Yggdrasil.

8. Elves-
Elves were originally thought of as ambivalent beings with certain magical abilities capable of helping or hindering humans, but in later traditions became increasingly sinister and were believed to afflict humans and livestock in various ways. Crossbreeding was possible between elves and humans in the Old Norse belief. In addition to these human aspects, they are commonly described as semi-divine beings associated with fertility and the cult of the ancestors and ancestor worship. The notion of elves thus appears similar to the animistic belief in spirits of nature and of the deceased, common to nearly all human religions. Like spirits, the elves were not bound by physical limitations and could pass through walls and doors in the manner of ghosts. The Icelandic mythographer and historian Snorri Sturluson referred to dwarves (dvergar) as "dark-elves" (dökkálfar) or "black-elves" (svartálfar). He referred to other elves as "light-elves" (ljósálfar), which has often been associated with elves' connection with Freyr, the god of fertility. There is one place there that is called the Elf Home (Álfheimr which is the elven city). People live there that are named the light elves (Ljósálfar). But the dark elves (Dökkálfar) live below in earth,in caves and the dark forest and they are unlike them in appearance – and more unlike them in reality. The Light Elves are brighter than the sun in appearance, but the Dark Elves are blacker than pitch. From the time of year (close to the autumnal equinox) and the elves' association with fertility and the ancestors, it might be assumed that it had to do with the ancestor cult and the life force of the family. A sacrifice to elves was apparently believed able to heal a severe battle wound. Depending on the person, they can use galdr, seidr, or runic magic.

9. Erkling-
The Erlking is depicted in a number of German poems and ballads as a malevolent creature who haunts forests and carries off travellers to their deaths. They are basically the evil version of an elf, but more seductive.

10. Fairies-
A considerable amount of lore about fairies revolves around changelings, fairy children left in the place of stolen human babies. Older people could also be abducted; a woman who had just given birth and had yet to be churched was considered to be in particular danger. A common thread in folklore is that eating the fairy food would trap the captive, this warning is often given to captives who escape by other people in the fairies' power, who are often described as captives who had eaten and so could not be freed. Folklore differed about the state of the captives: some held that they lived a merry life, others that they always pined for their old friends. Depending on the person, they can use galdr, seidr, runic magic, and/or their own special kind of magic.

11. Jotunns (Giants)-yaw-toon
The Jötunn are a mythological race, separate from the Æsir and Vanir but of comparable strength and ability. A number of Jötunn intermarry with the Æsir and Vanir or interact with them in a non-hostile manner. Their otherworldly homeland is Jötunheim, one of the nine worlds of Norse cosmology, separated from Midgard, the world of humans, by high mountains or dense forests. Other place names are also associated with them, including Niflheimr (land of ice, mist and fog occupied by Hrimthurs or Frost Giants), Utgarðr (Jötnar stronghold within the giants' realm) and Járnviðr (A heavily wooded area inhabited by troll-women who bear giants). Some of the jötnar are attributed with hideous appearances – claws, fangs, and deformed features, apart from a generally hideous size. Some of them may even have many heads, such as Thrivaldi who had nine of them, or an overall non-humanoid shape; so were Jörmungandr and Fenrir, two of the children of Loki. There are 3 main different types of giants: Fire, Sea, and Rime. Yet when jötnar are named and more closely described, they are often given the opposite characteristics. Many of the jötnar are described as beautiful, Skaði being described as "the shining bride of the gods". Although some jötnar are said to have been of considerable size, many were of no difference in size then that of the Æsir or Vanir. The Jötunn do appear to have some shared characteristics between a few of them. The Jötunn are an ancient race, being the first beings created, they carry wisdom from bygone times.

12. Gnome-
Its characteristics have been reinterpreted to suit the needs of various story-tellers, but it is typically said to be a small, humanoid creature that lives underground. They have been known to steal crops.

13. Goblins-
They are attributed with various abilities, temperaments and appearances depending on the story and country of origin. In some cases, goblins have been classified as constantly annoying little creatures somewhat related to the brownie and gnome. They are usually depicted as small, sometimes only a few inches tall, sometimes the size of a dwarf. They also often are said to possess various magical abilities. In books they are portrayed as evil and are never sympathetic. They usually only care about themselves and their idea of fun is by upsetting or annoying others. They also sometimes acts as assistants to witches and they themselves do have a little bit of magic.

14. Huldra-hool-drey
The Huldra, is a seductive forest creature found in Scandinavian folklore. A male hulder is called a huldu. This being is closely related to other underground dwellers, usually called tusser. Like the female counterpart, the huldrkall is a shapeshifter who often lures girls under a fair countenance. The huldra is a stunningly beautiful, sometimes naked woman with long hair; though from behind she is hollow like an old tree trunk, and has an animal's tail. In Norway, she has a cow's tail, and in Sweden she may have that of a cow or a fox. Further in the north of Sweden, the tail can be entirely omitted in favor of her hollow or bark-covered back.

15. Humans-
They make their own weapons, have no magical abilities, and their strength doesn't compare to most of the races in Yggdrasil. Some people are berserkers. Some would think they would be the most vulnerable, however they are actually one of the most powerful people and have one of the biggest populations, able to adapt to any situation, they often find a way to survive. Some have their own boats, or livestock. Humans aren't very organized. They do have a monarchy for a government. Also, some humans, not most, use a form of alchemy.

16. Norn-
The Norns in Norse mythology are female beings who rule the destiny of gods and men, a kind of dísir comparable to the Fates in Greek mythology. The three most important norns are: Urdr, Verdandi and Skuld come out from a hall standing at the Well of Urd (well of fate) and they draw water from the well and take sand that lies around it, which they pour over Yggdrasill so that its branches will not rot. These norns are described as three powerful maiden giantesses (Jotunns) whose arrival from Jötunheim ended the golden age of the gods. Beside these three norns, there are many other norns who arrive when a person is born in order to determine his or her future. There were both malevolent and benevolent norns, and the former caused all the malevolent and tragic events in the world while the latter were kind and protective goddesses.

17. Orc-
Orc is a race of mythical human-like creatures, generally described as fierce and combative, with grotesque features and often black, grey or greenish skin ((they are basically the norse version of an ogre)). Orcs are generally seen as repulsive and are sometimes thought to not be able to handle direct sunlight just as many other monsters were in history as to show that people could not be harmed by them in sunlight. An aversion to sunlight is also used to signify something as evil by representing it as an enemy of light, and all that is good/holy/acceptable/pure/true. They often ride boars, wolves and wargs. Usually, in contrast with other fantasy races such as Elves, orcs use shamanistic magic, sometimes demonic, or no magic at all.

18. Roc-
The Roc is an enormous legendary bird of prey, often said to be white.

19. Sleipnir-sleyp-nir
In Norse mythology, Sleipnir is an eight-legged horse. Sleipnir is Odin's steed, is the best of all horses, and he is grey in color. One day a Jotunn had gotten a hold of Sleipnir, and bred Sleipnir with a regular horse. Now, years later the lands run free with Sleipnirs, but they are not as strong and not as fast.

20. Tomte-tom-tey
A Tomte is a humanoid mythical creature of Scandinavian folklore. The tomte or nisse was believed to take care of a farmer's home and children and protect them from misfortune, in particular at night, when the housefolk were asleep. The tomte/nisse was often imagined as a small, elderly man (size varies from a few inches to about half the height of an adult man), often with a full beard; dressed in the everyday clothing of a farmer. However, there are also folktales where he is believed to be a shapeshifter able to take a shape far larger than an adult man, and other tales where the tomte/nisse is believed to have a single, cyclopean eye. In modern Denmark, nisses are often seen as beardless, wearing grey and red woolens with a red cap. Since nisses are thought to be skilled in illusions and sometimes able to make themselves invisible, one was unlikely to get more than brief glimpses of him no matter what he looked like. Norwegian folklore states that he has four fingers, and sometimes with pointed ears. His eyes glow in the dark.

21. Trolls-
Trolls dwell in isolated rocks, mountains, or caves, live together in small family units, and are rarely helpful to human beings. where they live far from human habitation, are not Christianized, and are considered dangerous to human beings. Depending on the region from which accounts of trolls stem, their appearance varies greatly; trolls may be ugly and slow-witted or look and behave exactly like human beings, with no particularly grotesque characteristic about them. Trolls are sometimes associated with particular landmarks, which at times may be explained as formed from a troll exposed to sunlight.

22. Warges-varg
Warges are wolf-like creatures of a particularly evil kind.

23. Witches-
Witches can either be a seeress or prophetess, they use rune magic, Seidr, and/or Baldr, or become a volva where they use a magical wand or staff. They typically have Goblins as assistants or a student apprentice. They used to live in Midgard, but now most hide in Alfheim. Some can talk to the dead.

24. Valkyries-
In Norse mythology, a valkyrie is one of a host of female figures who decide who dies and wins in battle. Selecting among half of those who die in battle (the other half go to the goddess Freyja's afterlife field Fólkvangr), the valkyries bring their chosen to the afterlife hall of the slain, Valhalla, ruled over by the god Odin. There, the deceased warriors become einherjar. When the einherjar are not preparing for the events of Ragnarök, the valkyries bear them mead. Valkyries also appear as lovers of heroes and other mortals, where they are sometimes described as the daughters of royalty, sometimes accompanied by ravens, and sometimes connected to swans or horses.

25. Valravn-vel-ruhn
In Danish folklore, a Valravn is a supernatural raven. The ravens appear in traditional Danish folksongs, where they are described as originating from ravens who consume the bodies of the dead on the battlefield, as capable of turning into the form of a knight after consuming the heart of a child, and, alternately, as half-wolf and half-raven creatures.

First come, first served. Basically, you just copy which ever profile you would like, fill in the blanks, send it back to me, and I will replace the empty profile with your own. Some of these characters may only be needed for small portions of the RP, so please keep that in mind. I'm only filling in the names and background so please feel free to make the character your own ((within reason)). Also, no offense to you guys, but I would actually like it if we kept the gods from participating in the rp to a minimum. I would like that because playing as a god can sometimes get cheesy, some people tend to start godmodding, and/or the story of the rp focuses on the gods; and I do not want the main focus of the rp on the gods.

Please, if any of you think that we don't need all of these characters or if there is just too many, then please let me know.

She shook spring flowers out of her golden hair. Freya could cry tears that turned into gold, or amber.
