Rolling to see who will go first

1 Nysa, Neptune
2 Paolo, Venus
LizzyMoo

Outbreak Signal

Feel free to rp as usual randomizing betweeen 1 and 3 for each post, or to pre roll the results and go back and fill the posts in after the fact.

Rolling reference for ease
* For every post in a battle thread make sure you randomize between 1 and 3. The number you get will determine what happened during that turn.
1 - Uh oh, looks like you missed this time!
2 - Yay a hit! Your opponent should subtract 1 hp in their next post.
3 - Excellent hit! Your opponent should subtract 2 hp in their next post.

* Keep track of your HP on the top of each post you make please! When someone reaches zero the battle is over. (You can post once or twice more if you'd really like the two to wish each other well or what not)
If the dice decide to be jerks and the battle just keeps going on and on and on I may step in and ask for you guys to roll dice for some outside event to help out. Hopefully it won't be necessary

HP: 5/5

The Squire of Neptune had been paired up against a Page of Venus. To the teal-haired man, it was a very suitable match. Beauty versus Elegance. Before the match had even started, the man had been limbering up, practicing with the more standard weapon. His usual practice weapon was a bit more weighted upon the bellguard. The slight shift in weight was not exactly something that many would think could affect a match, but Nysa knew it would throw off his motions. It would take extra concentration to make certain his movements wouldn't be too wide.

The man put up his protective mask once he had been signaled to make his way to the arena. He and his opponent were introduced to the spectators, and with a polite bow of his upper body, he greeted the Page.

"It is a pleasure, Young Page. Let us make this an excellent bout!"

With that, he got himself in the starting position. Upon the signal from the referee, the Squire of Neptune struck with a thrust. Though he had made a hit, it was unfortunately a bit too wide.

It unfortunately left him quite open to retaliation.

HP: 3/4

Paolo had to admit that... fencing was not particularly his strong suit. Yes, he did enjoy a good round of it, but he was still young and still learning, mostly caught up in the flash and style, rather than knowing the real practicalities of fencing. Still, he knew enough to at least try to hold his own in this match. He gave respect to his match opponent, then assumed pose, his youth somewhat obvious. He grinned at the greeting from the other, putting up his own mask. "I look forward to it!"

The first blow caught him by surprise, and he grinned, clearly enjoying more of the friendly competition of the Games, rather than losing himself to serious rivalry with anyone. He recovered, assumed posture again, then struck -- a solid blow! Surprising, but pleasing all the same, and he danced back to continue the match, leaving himself open somewhat foolishly.

HP: 3/5

The elder of the competitors easily noticed when the trunk of his body had been hit, which was easily considered a good hit. Once more they set to position. It seemed as if the Page's momentary victory had left him somewhat giddy, and somewhat open.

Upon the signal, the man made certain to focus a bit more upon his motions, keeping them tighter, and soon enough to match the boy's hit upon the Squire's trunk with his own hit to the Page's trunk. He gave the boy a nod of approval, encouraging him to match the hit once more.

HP: 1/4

Oh, the match was close -- which was thrilling to Paolo, because his opponent was a Squire and he was holding his own! He winced a bit when he felt the blow of the solid strike to his self, knowing that the match was coming to a close now. His feet shifted back and he stood, waiting for the signal, hoping to at least prove himself by landing another good blow, just wanting to make sure he left something of a lasting impression, perhaps.

There came the signal, and rather than moving too quickly, he measured the situation, weighed his weapon in his hand, and took a moment... He slid forward to strike, satisfied by the solid hit he landed, a good, strong hit, keeping the two of them evenly matched once more. He grinned, nodding to the elder boy, before stepping back to wait for the signal again.

HP: 1/5

He had one more blow to his trunk after the referee had them set to their starting positions again. If the Squire knew how fencing bouts went, at this point it was anyone's game. The next touch would determine the victor and who would be going to the next round in the tournament.

Once more they got back to their starting positions, and the man heaved in a deep breath. Even with their masks in place, there was something about Paolo's posture which read of that of a smiling young man.

It would be a pity to tell Anna that I was eliminated in the first round of a sport I enjoy...

It was all or nothing, and the Squire would be taking the route of ALL. Given the signal to resume, the man thrust out a feint, swinging to one direction to mislead his opponent. He briefly heard a small clang of metal against metal before he went in for another hit.

It wasn't upon the trunk, but along the edges towards the shoulder.

Too wide again...

HP: 0/4

He inhaled, exhaled, tried to focus properly in hopes of clinging to these last moments, either to remember them clearly and celebrate his victory or celebrate his defeat at the hands of a very skilled competitor. He went back to position, waiting for the signal -- then moved when his opponent did, only to realize too late that he had fallen for a feint. Scrambling to correct his mistake, Paolo became a bit sloppy, his youth showing as he attempted to parry, hoping to get his own shot at another hit-

His shoulder took the strike, and he knew that victory belonged to the other this day. However, he had no qualms with it. The ref called the match and he stepped back, swooping into a bow to concede the match. Once it was confirmed finish, he lifted his mask, cheeks flush and brown eyes bright as he looked at the squire with a grin on his lips. "Now that was a good match, if I do say so myself."

The match had been called.

Victory belonged to Neptune for this match.

This was not the sort of sport where one went parading about after a victory, celebrating in a childish manner. This was an adult's sport, and the victor needed to act as such.

He removed his mask, and at first he had to pause to readjust the monocle that was perched in front of his left eye. It was always a pity that his vision in the one eye was so far off from the other. With an acknowledging nod of the head and a smile, he replied "The pleasure was all mine, Young Page."

The pair weren't allowed to linger too long, since they needed the space for another bout, and soon enough the teal-haired man was ushered off to await the next match.
