That aside, at the time I had Netflix on my 360 I decided to finally choke it up and watch this movie and well....its....uh.....interesting?
See the thing is I didn't know anything about this film before watching and neither had I read about its actual synopsis. I wanted to go into the story without knowing a thing and god I wish I hadn't. talk2hand
My reaction to this movie is my same reaction to Japanese Hentai....so bizarre that it actually kept my interest long enough to watch it to the end.
I was under the impression that this film was going to embark on the idea of human/insect transmutation or DNA/Gene manipulation where some poor soul gets turned into some half human half giant centipede transformation and starts terrorizing some city or town. But nope....to my greatest disappointment this film is far from that type of idea. Hell they don't even try.
The film is your basic "American students that are fluent in a European language they studied goes to Europe and like dumb shits they are, gets kidnapped by some European psycho and starts getting tortured or experimented on." Wow...this sounds extremely familiar *cough* Hostel *cough*. The best way to describe this film is taking someone's very odd and sick fantasy and turning it into a film reality.
Quote:
The film tells the story of a German doctor who kidnaps three tourists and joins them surgically, mouth to a**s, forming a "human centipede".
And that's basically it. The German doctor has some sick fantasy of creating some award winning concept of joining human bodies together in such a way that they form a "centipede" type of.....creation? And yeah they're joined through gastronomical connection of each of their stomachs, one person in the front while the other two people are joined at their mouth through the other person's a**s. As bizarre as this movie is, its also rather predictable and boring and at the end (spoiler) you get this impression that the "centipede" actually finds a way to escape when police get involved, but the leading part of the connection "the Japanese guy" commits suicide while the very back end of the connection "one of the American students" gets sick and dies part way in between leaving the only surviving girl in the middle of the connection to be stuck. Doctor is killed and so are the detectives that got involved, but she's stuck dieing alone with no way to physically get herself help. (spoiler end).
So yeah um....unless you have a weird appreciation for the bizarre that isn't too grotesque then you might find the film with the same reaction I had, but otherwise don't waste your time. I still can't decide if I actually hate the film or not. There isn't rape or torture involved...the grotesque factor is only disgusting through the idea of the a**s-to-mouth connection, but other wise the doctor treats his "creation" with respect as to how he would treat a loyal dog. Its just....its just bizarre and dare I say an original idea for a film even though its overall pretty bad, boring and a waste of time?
On a letter rating from A-F I give this movie a D+. A "+" only because I've never seen this idea done in another film at least to my knowledge.
