Hujan

. . . . . . .

Hujan is one of Mesa’s main port towns due to it’s port availability and location in relation to that of Jord. All trade that comes from Jord is sent through here and is then distributed among the rest of the nation.

It is also well known for it’s beaches and is another popular vacation spot. Many tourists come year round to soak up the sun, relax, and rejuvenate. They are also drawn to the shipwreck that is just north of the city which has become home to many adventures

Sophia smiled as she managed to find a perfect spot on the beach for her to sit. The neko looked around and watched all the others that were at the beach. The people were either running or commuting with one another. Not too long ago, Sophia had just returned from running errands for her father who had then convinced the girl to head over to the beach to relax. I wish he would've came with me... she thought as she sat down underneath a tree and laid back against the trunk. It's such a beautiful day. He would've enjoyed himself~ She yawned, her tail flicking as she did so before turning her head to the side. A nap feels right at this moment she thought as she rubbed her eyes before sleeping off into her sleep.

A large clash of thunder echos forth, waking Sophia from her sleep. As she opens her eyes, she would see that the pleasant, beautiful sky she had fallen asleep under had become dark and stormy. The beach now was completely empty, presaging the dangerous storm coming. Out in the distance over the water, a solid wall of rain could be seen pouring down in torrents from the ominous looking clouds. By the direction of the rapidly increasing winds, it was obvious that it would soon be upon the beach.

Apparently in their rush to get off the beach, no one had thought to wake the poor Neko girl sleeping under a tree to warn her. It was now up to her to decide what to do.

Kye's hasty retreat from Alam had gone surprisingly well in her opinion. The moment she had her feet on the ground, she had taken off in a dead sprint towards the ports, fueled by pure adrenaline and a drive for freedom. She felt like she'd been flying, well almost. The moment she reached the docks, she'd spotted a lone fisherman hauling his things aboard a smaller boat, not like that of the huge cargo vessels or even that of the military ships. It was her best option, so she took a chance and approached him, asking if he'd give her a ride to wherever he was heading. He seemed a bit weary at first, but a few of the gold pieces she had quickly wiped that look away, and then they were off.

The journey had taken a bit of time, but at last she could see the city on the horizon. A huge grin lit up her face, and she knew she probably looked like a kid in a candy store. In all her time living in Mesa, she had never once set eyes on this city, and it was beautiful. Though as they neared the ports, the sky began to take on a darker cast as thunder rolled through the clouds above. People began to immediately take refuge from whatever was coming, abandoning their work stations after a hasty clean up.

"Well that's funny. I didn't think it was supposed to storm this week. I guess we better dock quickly then."

She turned her head from the sights to refocus on the fisherman she'd gotten acquainted with over the journey, and could see a slight frown form on his old and wrinkled face before readjusting the speed on the boat to reach land faster. As they reached the dock, Kye could see what appeared to be a wall of rain heading in the direction of the city from out over the ocean. The fisherman saw it too, and had the ropes ready, pulling the ship in and tying it up quickly. Once it was steady, he got out, and then helped her exit the ship as well. She had paid him at the beginning of the journey, so with that taken care of, he took his leave, probably heading home to take shelter.

'I need to find somewhere to stay. The storm can't be too far off by now.' The winds had started to become violent. This was also a relatively new experience for the girl. Being inside a giant stone structure most of her life, it wasn't often that she was affected by the weather.

With surprising speed, the storm was soon upon them. A torrential downpour began to pour from the sky, with powerful winds blowing the rain almost in sideways. The sound of thunder reverberated everywhere with bright flashes of lightning periodically illuminating the darkened sky. Signs hanging from the beach side shops flapped wildly about. The place had become a ghost town with most of the townsfolk fleeing to their homes to avoid the storm. Living so close to the ocean, the residents of this picturesque town were used to this drill, but even then this storm seemed to come out of nowhere and showed signs of getting worse. Only those unwise enough to get out of the weather or unlucky enough to have no where else to go were still left on the streets.

Sophia jolted from her sleep when the sound of thunder echoed and looked around to see all of the people rushing off of the beach. Just when the nap was getting good... she thought as she quickly dashed towards the nearest shop. Sophia watched as the signs began to flap around in the wind wildly and mewed when she felt the rain begin to catch up with her. Sophia sighed in relief when she made it inside one of the shops, panting as she sat down in a chair.

"I wonder how long this storm will last..." she mumbled to herself as she glanced over to the window, watching the storm continue to rage on.

It didn't take long before the storm was raging down upon the city, and Kye found herself caught in it. She tried to find a place to stay at a couple of the hotels, but considering this was a vacation spot, they were completely full and once again she had to go outside. It was bad out, but they didn't want loiterers filling up the lobby. As she walked, she held her hand up in front of her face to ward away some of the rain. If she could, she would put herself in a protective bubble, but it was just coming in too fast to keep up. Finally she pushed her way into a small shop, where it appeared they let vacationers just trying to get out of the rain stand around. Of course, they also were trying to sell their merchandise as well. Offering food, drink, or a change of clothes for a price. It was a clever business strategy... and Kye found herself completely soaked. However, she really didn't want to buy clothes embroidered with obvious imagery indicating she traveled through Hujan. It was quite honestly the last thing she needed once she left the city. Instead she quietly slipped to the back and pulled the water out of her clothes and hair, dumping it into a bucket that was catching water from the leaky ceiling.

She then walked back to the front where the windows were, to anxiously watch the storm. The world outside was getting battered, and she just hoped it would stay outside. Not only that, she hoped it would die down soon too. After all, she didn't have infinite amounts of time to spare. If her father had decided to send people after her, she had maybe a day, probably 3 at the most before they tracked her here. Someone was bound to have seen something as she left the city, it was just all about how long it took them to find that person.

((I'm assuming you both ended up in the same shop for ease of story telling purposes.))

The storm was going full blast now. The wind whistled and wailed as it tore around outside the small shop that the two girls now took shelter in. When it thundered, the very earth shook beneath their feet. The other tourists taking refuge began to wear worried expressions on their face but the elderly shop owner quickly reassured them that this kind of weather was normal for this time of the year. Still, even he looked a bit concerned as the building groaned against the storm.

As Kye and Sophia looked out at the foreboding sky, they could both almost swear they saw a dark shape moving through the clouds. Then, during a bright flash of lightning, the silhouette of an oddly shaped, human-sized bird could be seen against the sky. It was visible only during the flash, but it was struggling in the winds and looked to be falling from the sky.

Several moments passed with nothing visible through the rain. Then suddenly, a loud thump came from the windowless side of the building, and everyone in the shop jumped. Something large had smacked into the building. Most everyone inside assumed it must have been a bit of debris being blown about in the wind, but the two girls by the window could have sworn they heard the groan of a human voice from outside.

The longer Kye watched the storm, the worse it seemed to get. Even the shopkeeper, who constantly reassured the vacationers that these things happened all the time, was beginning to seem worried. 'Well, if this isn't irony then I don't know what is. The first taste of freedom I get in months is probably going to be the cause of my death.' And yet she still didn't regret her decision to leave, because even if something awful did happen, it would be her own fault. There was something comforting in being control of her own life.

She then pulled out of her own thoughts as she saw what appeared to be a gigantic bird flying across the sky, illuminated by a lighting flash. Though just as soon as she spotted it, it was gone from her vision, swallowed up by the blackness of the storm once again. 'What was that thing? And was it... falling?' She'd never seen a bird that large before. It had to have been the size of a person. Perhaps they were common in this part of Mesa? 'Or maybe I imagined it.' She was seriously beginning to question if the thing had even been real or not the longer she stared at that spot in the sky. Whatever it was, it was gone now.

Suddenly after several moments, a loud thud came from the back of the shop as if something hit it. At the sound, Kye, and a few others in the building jumped, but many agreed it was probably just debris picked up by the winds. Though she wasn't so sure. Accompanied with the thud, she thought she'd heard what sounded like a person groaning in pain. She'd heard that sound many times before working as a healer. People would come in all battered and bruised. 'What if someone got struck by the debris?' If that was the case, she had an obligation to help them. Storm or not, she couldn't just leave them there, and if they were hurt, they needed to be brought inside.

Without thinking twice, Kye moved for the door and pushed it open, at the protest of those standing near it, to be hit by the full force of wind and rain. Almost instantly, the door slammed shut behind her as the wind grabbed hold of it. Keeping one hand on the building, and one hand shielding her face from the torrential down pour, she slowly made her way around the side to check things out.

While Sophia's eyes were watching the storm grow stronger and violent, her attention was suddenly shifted to something that had appeared. A dark shape had dashed through the clouds and the her eyes followed the figure. Soon, with a flash of lightning, the silhouette of a bird was shown.

Her eyes widened slightly in curiosity.

Next thing she knew, there was a thump on the other side of the building. The curiosity of the neko spiked higher and she slowly made her way towards the back door. Sophia noticed that she wasn't the only that was curious of the noise as another girl made her way to the door before herself. Slowly, she came up behind the girl and peeked around her, stepping one foot out the door as she did so and leaning her torso out as well.

As Kye rounds the corner of the shop in the pouring rain, she is greeted by an alarming sight. There, crumpled on the ground, is the large bird she saw earlier in the storm. However, as she gets closer, the creature suddenly begins to shift. It rolls over onto its back, revealing itself to be much more than an enormous bird! The creature has the talons, legs, wings and tail of a bird of prey, but the torso and head of a human girl. The half bird girl looks up at Kye with limpid red eyes and speaks in an incredibly weak and desperate voice. "It...hurts... Please...help...Enyo...."

The bird girl passes out after this, either from exhaustion or pain. Looking over her body reveals several cuts and bruises. The storm had inevitably been quite rough on her small, fragile frame. One of her winged arms looks to be at a funny angle, leading you to believe it must have broken from her impact with the shop.

From her position at the door, it is hard for Sophia to make everything out through the rain, though one thing is clear. This is no mere bird. The creature before her has a distinctly human shape with aspects of a bird. Judging by her lack of movement and the sound she made when she hit the shop, she clearly must be injured.

Kye's eyes widened at what she saw next. The bird she thought she'd mistakenly seen in the sky moments before was now on the ground in front of her. However, upon closer inspection, it was not just a bird, but part... human? She'd never seen anything like her before. Though one thing was clear, the bird-girl was injured, and needed some serious help. 'Enyo... is Enyo her name?'

Once again pushing against the wind and rain, Kye made her way over to the girl and knelt by her limp frame for a better look. Her arm was obviously broken, and the rest of her body was covered in cuts and bruises so moving her was not an option. 'I really hope healing humanoids and animals work the same way.' She was going to do what she could to help, and hopefully it would be enough. She reached out, and grabbed the apparently broken limb and jerked it, hoping to get it set back in place before moving onto the water treatment. Lucky for her, there was lots of water around to use.

Kye closed her eyes and concentrated on the water all around her, pulling in what she needed, and then held it over the girl letting it wash over her body, bird and human parts alike, with it's healing properties. All she could hope was that it helped ease even a little of her pain.

The unconscious bird girl grimaced as her arm was pulled into alignment, but otherwise didn't stir. It was difficult for her helpers to concentrate in the noisy, thunderous storm. Both girls were quickly soaked to the bone while powerful gusts of wind constantly buffeted them, threatening to sweep them away.

Despite this, as Kye moved the water over the bird girl's limp body, her bruises began to fade and her cuts glowed with a dim blue light before sealing. As Kye concentrated on the arm she could tell that she got some of the bone to mend, but it would take more time and healing sessions in a much less chaotic atmosphere to completely heal the injury. Still, at this point, Kye would feel the bird girl could be safely moved inside, as long as care was taken with her arm.

As Kye concentrated on the healing, she could feel the girl's injuries lessen. The 'simpler' injuries sealed up quickly, but the bone was going to take a lot more time. However, the girl was healed enough to be moved at this point, which was what needed to be done. The storm was hard to ignore and definitely made her job harder, even with the loads of water all around.

She looked up to the back door of the shop, and saw another girl with cat ears, half-in half-out watching them. 'She must have been curious about the noise as well and come to look.' She felt herself tense up out of habit at the fact that someone had witnessed her healing, but then reminded herself that it didn't matter. She could be Kye and only Kye now that she'd left home. She didn't have to hide anymore.

She grabbed hold of the bird-girl then, putting her good arm/wing over her shoulder, and lifted her off the ground with her own arm wrapped around her waist. Taking slow and careful steps towards the door, she eventually reached it and pulled them both inside passed the cat-eared girl. Once inside she quickly found some crates to sit the girl on top of and tried her best to take care with the injured arm. Kye was breathing heavy from fighting the wind, rain, and then carrying the girl inside. This was probably the biggest workout she'd had in quite awhile. 'Boy do I need to get in shape.' Realizing the cat girl was still near by she turned to her now, "If you can, could you find me some fabric of some kind? Just something to rest her head on." They were both soaked head to toe, so once again, just as she did when she'd entered the shop the first time, she began to pull the liquid off their bodies so as to not catch cold.

Sophia blinked when she saw that the creature was no mere bird. A...human? she thought as she stepped further out of the door and slowly advanced towards her and the girl. She watched as the other girl proceeded to heal her with her elemental powers, her eyes fixed on the water that was washing over the girl's body. As the bruises and cuts began to fade away, Sophia then watched as the other girl began to bring the girl inside, following after them once they went through the door. When she told her to find fabric, Sophia quickly ran off and managed to get some from behind a counter.

She returned back to the two and gave the girl a couple of the fabrics. "If you need anymore, just tell me. I'll be happy to help" she said, her eyes wandering back over to the injured one. "I hope she'll be ok..."
