Euri
. . . . . . .
Euri is located the furthest south in the nation of Mesa. It is always cold here and there is snow on the ground for most of the year. For medical research purposes, the highest ranking medical teams perform new treatments for hypothermia and other conditions related to the cold.
It attracts many tourists and thrill seekers to see the snow and and play games in the new and unique environment. The weather can be quite harsh and deadly to those who are not used to it, so be careful!

The heir apparent to the Niequist Dukedom had taken the trouble to venture here all for her passion, alchemy. She had heard tales from other alchemists that there was a specific type of flower located here that could be used as an ingredient to aid in even the hardest of transmutations. Its exchange value was so high that many alchemists had ventured here. Some claimed to have found it. Others said their efforts were in vain. Vendela wanted to see it for herself. If she could pick just one flower. she would notify Elliot and the rest of the association right away. This find would definitely be worth the emergency meeting. Dreaming of finding the flower, Vendela didn't watch where she was going and tripped over a rock, twisting her ankle. A cry of agony escaped from her lips. "Agh! Dang it! How could I be so stupid!? Now, I'll never find the flower!"
Vendela tried her best to rise to her feet, but she fell down each time. After five or six attempts, she collapsed with defeat. If someone didn't come and rescue her soon, Vendela would die of hypothermia from the cold temperatures. Sure, she was dressed for Winter, but it didn't help that she was face first in the snow and couldn't get up. As she thought about her predicament, a harsh wind blew through the town and chilled Vendela to the bone. Shivering, she called out loudly. "Please, someone help me! I'm stuck here!" Five minutes passed, and no one came. Vendela than started breathing on her hand to try and warm them up through the gloves she was wearing. ★ "Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. ╔══════════════╗ Where I am: The Town of Euri Who I'm With: No one at the moment... ~ Lino Labelle ~ Lino had been walking in the snow for what felt like hours before he finally reached Euri. It felt like ages ago when the rumor of a rare gem reached him in Aria. He had been working late at the bar when he overheard some travelers talking about a rare gem that was discovered in Mesa. Immediately interested, Lino had stopped everything that he was doing to question the men, refusing to leave them alone until they had given him the information he desired. Determined to find the gem, he packed his things and began the long journey to Euri. He expected the cold, but not the freezing winds that cut straight through all of his layers of clothing. Even Mao, his faithful yet lazy cat, had hidden herself in his coat to avoid the cold, though he welcomed the warmth that came off her body.
Though despite the cold, Lino found Euri a very beautiful place. The sunlight glistened off of the ice and snow, making the land appear to be encased in a sheet of crystal. The white of the snow and that one speck of blue in the distance made the whole landscape seem so pure... wait. Speck of blue? Lino squinted his eyes to try to see the blue speck further in the distance, and with a gasp he started running towards the speck. 'There is someone out there!' he thought to himself as he ran, "Don't worry! I am coming!" he yelled into the wind. "This is so frustrating! This snow is so hard to run through!" he yelled more at himself than anyone else. With a grunt, Lino stopped running and raised his arms out as he gathered the winds that were once chilling him around himself and allowed it to lift his feet off of the ground. When Lino thrust his arms back, the wind propelled him forward, powder snow kicking up into the air behind him. In no time at all he was at the girl's side, "Are you alright? What happened?" Lino asked, concern expressed on his face. He was deeply worried for the girl, it was obvious that she was cold, she was shivering so violently. Lino quickly made the air around them still so the harsh winds would stop freezing the poor girl to death.

She fought desperately to stay awake, knowing that falling asleep would be dangerous. Just as she was about to lose it, she heard a male voice, faint in the distance. Vendela let out a hoarse croak. She wasn't sure if the man there could hear her or not, but she figured it wouldn't hurt to try. Suddenly, the harsh wind that had been chilling Vendela to the bone stopped. Her right eye opened, and a tall man with mostly black hair with flecks of other colors stood before her. His gold eyes flashed with concern. His mouth opened and a comforting feeling washed over her. The man had a very comforting voice.
He asked Vendela if she was okay. It was a simple question, but the answer wasn't so simple. She was calm on the inside, yet on the outside, she felt as if death was paying her a visit. How would you explain that to someone without making it seem dramatic? Vendela cleared her throat before she spoke to the man who was now at her side. "Well, my ankle hurts, and I'm very cold, but other than that, I'm fine." Speaking of her ankle, how did it look? Vendela turned her head as far as she could, but her efforts were in vain. Oh well, it wasn't too urgent. With her last bit of strength, Vendela tried to stand up, but she fell yet again. Defeated, her deep sapphire colored eyes met his gold ones. "It's definitely twisted at the least, my ankle, that is. However, I may have broken it with my struggles. Stupid, stupid me!" Vendela rambled on, but she failed to realize that she was speaking out loud. ★ "Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. ╔══════════════╗ Where I am: The Town of Euri Who I'm With: One Strange Man Out of Character: ╚══════════════╝ They live inside us, and sometimes, they win."

~ Lino Labelle ~ Lino let out the breath he did not realize that he was holding when the girl spoke. He was just happy that the girl wasn't unconscious. Though when she mentioned her ankle, Lino tilted his head to the side to get a better view of it. It was hard to tell through the winter boots she was wearing, but it was probably swollen under her layers of clothing. Lino quickly looked over the girl to see if she had any other injuries. Other than her ankle, she appeared alright, cold, but alright. It was her blue hair that had originally caught his attention, and her sapphire blue eyes expressed a sense of defeat.
Lino knelt down next to the girl and gently picked her up, carful to avoid bumping into her injured ankle. He could hear Mao grunt softly from under his coat when he pulled the girl closer to his body to try to warm her up a bit. "Come one," he said gently, "Lets get back into town. There should be a healer there who can help your ankle." Ever so gently, he allowed the wind to lift him off the ground again, and soon the wind was propelling both him and the girl forward towards Euri. He wasn't traveling as fast as he was before, he did not want to jostle the girl and cause her any unnecessary pain, but it still allowed them to travel faster than they would be walking.

He was now inspecting her for other injures. Vendela wanted to tell him that her ankle was the only thing that was bothering her, but she couldn't find the strength. Attempting to get up had been too much of a strain on her body. Vendela closed her eyes for just a moment, to rest them. "I just want to rest my eyes sir. Please don't think I'm falling unconscious." She added for good measure. She had already caused the poor man before her enough worry. This was the least she could do. This sentence was the only thing she could call on strength for.
Vendela felt her body leave the cold ground lightly. She found it extremely nice that the man was careful not to jostle her too much. Gratitude surged through her frail, cold body and warmed her some. She mouthed the words "Thank you". When the man told her about the healer in town, Vendela gave a slight nod to indicate that she understood. Just then, she felt a careful wind blow around the two, and they started to move. Vendela opened her right eye and watched with awe as the wind carried the man and her at a pace that was just right. It didn't bounce her around, but it was still quick and efficient. After about five minutes of travel, a wooden hut appeared on the horizon. There was an orange glow in the two snow-covered windows that welcomed travelers. A sign hung from the eaves that read Healer Headquarters - Euri Branch. A sigh of relief escaped from Vendela's slightly parted lips. They had made it to safety. ★ "Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. ╔══════════════╗ Where I am: The Town of Euri Who I'm With: One Strange Man Out of Character: ╚══════════════╝ They live inside us, and sometimes, they win."

~ Lino Labelle ~ Lino smiled when the girl mouthed the words 'thank you' though it still concerned him when she closed her eyes. It was harder for him to be sure that she wasn't unconscious when her eyes were closed... To help keep her awake, Lino started blabbing about pointless things, how when the sun glistened off of the snow, everything seemed to be governed in crystal. He talked about how it was her blue hair that had caught his attention, and that it was very pretty blue hair. He just kept talking to her, he felt that the talking would help keep her awake, and it also calmed his worries as well. "Ah and there is no need to call me sir," he said during one of his pointless rants, "My name is Lino."
When they made it to the Healer Headquarters, Lino let out a small sigh of relief and let his constant blabbing come to an end. Lino used a light gust of wind to open the door and glided inside before he allowed his feet to touch the ground again as the wind lightly shut the door behind him. The building was comfortably warm, and there was a cozy fire burning in the fireplace at the side of the room. A small bell had chimed when he opened the door and a nurse came out shortly after, Lino quickly explained how the girl had twisted her ankle and was probably suffering from slight hypothermia. The kind nurse guided them to another room where Lino set the girl down softly on a bed so the healers could heal her ankle. Lino stayed with her throughout the entire process, holding her hand so that even with her eyes closed, she would know that she was not alone in a strange place.

After Lino had said something of conversation, Vendela would reply honestly. This made the five-minute journey bearable. "Yeah, who know a place so beautiful could be so deadly? I love the glitter on the snow. It reminds me of a sunrise." Was what Vendela said when Lino talked about the sun on the snow. When the conversation turned towards her hair. she smiled and blushed. "I'm glad you found me. The scientists of Aria once conducted a study to examine my abnormal hair color. They still don't know what causes it. Although, the believe the gene for my eye color got mixed in with my hair color." After she realized she had been babbling on, Vendela closed her mouth. "Sorry to go off like that. I'm just fascinated by science and stuff like that. Oh, and thank you for the compliment. You're one of the only two people in the world that think that, so I really appreciate it!" The other person being Elliot. Her parents despised her secretly for being different, however, they could never gather the courage to say it to Vendela's face. "Lino? What a beautiful name. Er, handsome. Sorry about that. My name's Vendela Niequist. You may have heard of me."
The slam of the door behind her meant that Lino had brought her here safely. All in a matter of seconds, a nurse was there, then, she was in an unfamiliar room. Vendela began to panic. Everything was happening so fast! It was scary! However, Vendela felt someone, most likely Lino, grip her hand, and it comforted her. She wasn't alone in some strange room. It was weird. She had only met Vendela minutes ago, and already she felt as if they were good friends. Once the healers finished operating on her ankle, they left the room to allow Vendela some time to rest. They let Lino stay to keep her company. "Thank you for being here Lino. If it weren't for you, I'd be dead right now. It was all over some stupid flower too." Her ankle was still sore from being operated on, so she couldn't get up.
The sound of panicked footsteps and suddenly a door was slammed. A man rushed into the room and threw himself at Vendela. He caught himself before he crushed her. It was Elliot. His beige hair damp with sweat and tossed from the wind. He had rosy cheeks from the cold , and his breath was heavy. In his hurry, Elliot didn't see that Lino was in the room. "Damn it Vendela! I leave you alone for one moment, and you put a sleeping potion in my drink! I could have helped you!" Wet tears dotted the bed, and Elli gently hugged her. He had been so worried about her it didn't matter that he was crying in public. After a moment, Elli pulled back and noticed Lino for the first time. It seemed that he was holding Vendela's hand to comfort her. "Did something happen sir? I apologize sincerely on my part, for I was the one who caused this mess." ★ "Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. ╔══════════════╗ Where I am: The Town of Euri Who I'm With: Lino Out of Character: Hope you don't mind me bringing Elliot here... ╚══════════════╝ They live inside us, and sometimes, they win."

~ Lino Labelle ~ Lino felt like a weight had lifted off of his shoulders when the healers were finished, he was just happy that Vendela was alright, though her name intrigued him. "The Niequist name sounds familiar, though I am not sure from where...." he said frowning slightly as he thought, "Forgive me if I am supposed to know it, I am from Aria, thus I really only know the famous names of the Arian royals." By the time that the healers had left the room, Mao had climbed out of his jacket and was sleeping on the bed by Vendela's feet. Lino thanked each nurse as they left, the looked at Vendela with a smile, "I must say, whatever gene mixed to cause your hair color must be a beautiful one!" He flashed her a large grin, "And anyone who thinks otherwise must be a fool! Nor do I think that any flower that has caught your attention is stupid. Maybe we can go look for it together once you feel ready, I promise to warn you if I see any more roots by your feet!" he said still smiling, "And there is no reason to thank me, I am just glad that you are alright."
It was then that the door to Vendela's room burst open and a handsome man with beautiful beige hair threw himself at Vendela. When the man pulled back from Vendela, Lino thoroughly studied the man and was pleased by what he saw. The combination of his pale skin, beige hair, and pale blue eyes complimented him well. The tears running down his cheeks made him seem so innocent to the point that Lino had the urge to hug him, and if it wasn't for the fact that he was still holding Vendela's hand, he would of, but one needs both hands to give a good hug. Lino tilted his head slightly in confusion, "It is your fault?" Lino chuckled to himself, "I highly doubt that! It is not like you were the one who strategically put that root in her way so that she would trip and twist her ankle on it. I am afraid that Mother Nature is to blame for that!" Lino paused for a second, "Or a rouge Earth Elemental, though I doubt that as well." He said with a smile.

Elliot Driscoll and Vendela Niequist ★ Vendela reached out her unoccupied hand and ruffled Lino's hair. "It's fine that you don't remember. To be quite honest myself, I don't remember the names of the Aria royals. We're a Dukedom of the land of Mesa. I'm the heir apparent to the name. I'll soon be inheriting the title of Duchess." As she said that, a melancholy look crossed Vendela's face. She was proud to inherit such a title, but she still wanted to be free and not have the burden of a duchess. She could give up the title, but she didn't want to trouble one of her younger siblings. Also, giving up never was an option with Vendela. As soon as the cat crawled out of Lino's jacket, Vendela giggled and covered her mouth with her hand. "Aw, he's so cute! What's his name?" Vendela asked, scratching the cat's ears and stroking his fur. At Lino's compliment, Vendela laughed wholeheartedly. "You're so sweet, really!" Vendela flashed him a grin back. Lino had the great ability to make her smile so many times. It was a large change in her rather serious demeanor. At his comment about watching out for the roots, Vendela nodded vigorously. "I would really appreciate that! I wouldn't want to take another trip here. I mean, the healers are nice and all, I just don't want to be injured and bedridden." The state she was in now was almost too much. Vendela liked being on the move. She hated being bedridden, but her sore ankle would collapse and probably shatter if she put her weight on it.
Elliot sat down on the edge of the bed and clenched both hands that were on his lap into fists. He should have been there for her. That way, she wouldn't have almost died. Gratitude surged through his body when the thought registered in his mind that it was the man who had saved her. Vendela was the most precious person in the world to him, and she had been saved by the man before him. Swallowing his pride, Elli got down on one knee, placed one arm behind his back and one over his chest. Looking up into the man's golden eyes, Elliot said what he wanted to say. "I, Elliot Driscoll, Duke of the land of Mesa, truly thank you for saving my best friend of twenty-one years, Vendela Niequist." He then tapped the pocket of his heavy black coat thoughtfully. "How much do I owe you? Does five hundred gold coins sound good? Yeah, I guess so..." As he was mumbling to himself, Elliot reached into the pocket he had been tapping earlier and handed the man before him a rather large pouch full of golden coins. "Lino, don't even think of returning them. Elliot will still find a way to have you carry them home. You're very special, you know? Elliot doesn't bow down to anyone so easily." At Vendela's comment, Elli blushed and rubbed the side of his face. He had forgotten that he was still kneeling before the man. He quickly stood up and looked away, the blush on his face still dusting his cheeks. "What's your name, sir?" Elli's usually loud, proud voice turned into one just about a whisper. ☆ ---------------------------- "I won't give up on us, ╔══════════════╗ Location: The Town of Euri Company: Lino and a Cat OOC: I'm glad Lino's happy. ~ Lino Labelle ~
Lino, with freshly ruffled hair, saw the look of melancholy cross Vendela's face, though he did not question why it was there. He did not want to make her focus on a negative topic that would only upset her more. Instead he flashed her a grin, "It would be an honor to help a beautiful soon-to-be-Duchess avoid hazardous roots!" He said with a wink.
When Elliot got down on one knee and bowed to him, Lino looked at him with surprise, then immediately started smiling. He tried hiding his smile with his free hand, then turned back towards Vendela, "Oh my goodness, he is so formal~!" He said gleefully, the smile still on his face. The more Elliot did, the more Lino found him to be absolutely adorable! 'Too bad he is so obviously straight,' Lino though to himself, 'and completely in love for that matter.' Lino's smile dropped slightly when Elliot tried to give him the gold, and right before he was about to protest, Vendela's statement cut him off. "Alright then, I will make sure it will go into the 'Mao Fund,'" he said with another wink at Vendela, "Though I already knew that I was special, but most of the time when people call me that, they don't mean it in a good way!" he said laughing. Most people did not respond kindly to someone who is gay, his father included, though Lino had learned long ago to smile at the negative comments, and not show the hurt in front of others. When Elliot blushed, Lino almost nearly fell out of his chair, seeing such a proud and formal figure blush and get so embarrassed was tugging on the strings to Lino's heart. Elliot was just too adorable! Lino extended his free hand towards Elliot for a handshake, a large grin on his face, "My name is Lino Labelle, and that is Mao on the bed over there," he flashed the smile towards Vendela, "She is the Chairman of the 'Mao Fund.'"

Elliot Driscoll and Vendela Niequist ★ Vendela chuckled a bit at Lino's comment. It felt great to laugh after having the anguish of being stuck in the freezing snow. "His father taught him to always be formal. He said he would disown Elli if he wasn't acting like a proper Duke." Giggling to herself, Vendela leaned forward and whispered into Lino's ear. "His mother even taught him how to kiss others properly. Elli even taught me how to kiss when we were sixteen." She winked at this. However, it certainly was true. Vendela had gone up to Elliot and begged him to teach her the art of kissing. Elliot just thought it was awkward, but he still taught her anyway. "You better not be whispering about me, Ven!" The somewhat stern look on his face made the slight blush go away. However, when he saw Mao, it was like love at first sight. The blushing came back, and Elli's anger was forgotten. He dashed over to Mao and held him in his arms, cuddling up against the soft fur. He was muttering over and over: "It's a cat! Aw, he's such a cute kitty!" He was laughing to himself as he rocked Mao back and forth. "Just leave him that way. Elli's happiest when he's with cats. He even has three of them in his manor."
As Elli was stuck in his world of cats, Vendela sighed when she heard Lino's comment. "How awful! Why would they even say such a thing? I don't see anything wrong with you." Vendela was completely oblivious to Lino's sexual preferences and the negative stigma behind it. Especially in this day and age. She had never met anyone like Lino. When Lino stuck out his hand towards Elliot, he smiled and shifted Mao over to the other arm. He then shook Lino's hand. "You're one of my favorite people in the world, Sir Lino! You, Vendela, and Mao are all special to me. Wait, I can't forget my cats. I could show you pictures of them if you would like." Elli offered to Lino, a white, somewhat crooked smile on his face. He even winked at him. "I always carry around pictures of them."A tiny but bright spark shone in Elli's eye whenever he talked about his cats. He loved them dearly and would do whatever he could to give them eternal life. That's part of the reason why he's searching for the Philosopher's Stone. However, if they were to suffer, Elli would let them go immediately. ☆ ---------------------------- "I won't give up on us, ╔══════════════╗ Location: The Town of Euri Company: Lino and Mao OOC: ╚══════════════╝ even if the skies get rough..."

~ Lino Labelle ~ When Veldela told him the story about kissing, Lino let out a small gasp of surprise, "How scandalous~" he whispered back. He leaned in closer to her, "Do you think he could teach me sometime?" he asked with a large grin. It was then that Mao was kitty-napped, though she did not seem to mind at all. She let Elliot do whatever he wanted to her, all while taking the form of a limp-noodle. She hung limply in his grasp, though when he held her too close or too tight instead of batting at him with her paws, she just remained limp and let out a sharp "Mao!"
Lino was not paying too much attention on Mao, though he loved the large blush that she had brought on to Elliot. 'I need to remember to bring more cats,' he thought to himself. He then turned to Vendela, "Ah my dear, on the outside I appear completely normal--well except for the neon tips of my hair, those are not very normal at all!" He said with a laugh, "Though on the inside I am very different from other people, and I am not afraid to show that difference. It is that complete openness of individuality that tends to make people uncomfortable, and they don't like it, thus I am considered 'special'." Lino smiled at Elliot when he had called him one of his favorite people, and then nearly feel out of his chair again when Elliot smiled and winked at him. 'I can die a happy man~' he thought to himself as he regained his balance. "Thank you Elliot, that means a lot," he said with a smile.

Elliot Driscoll and Vendela Niequist ★ Vendela smiled playfully. "Ah, I see you have a little man crush. I don't blame you. Elli is a very attractive man." She had an idea of what Elliot might say to Lino's request. However, one could never be sure. "Why don't you ask him if you're serious? After all, I don't know what his preferences are." Meanwhile, Elli cuddled with Mao. When she let out a meow, he understood that she was being squeezed too tightly. Thus, he would ease his grip a bit. "You're such a gentle kitty, aren't you Mao? I love you so much!" He chuckled to himself and kissed Mao on the nose gently.
Vendela thought about what Lino said for a moment. "You know, depending on where you're from, those neon hair tips could be considered normal. After all, lots of people accepted my blue hair." It all depended on how one looked at it. Sure, it took a while to get used to, but after that, it was normal to see the neon. Vendela never really cared about outside appearances anyway. She cared about the personality of those who she wished to associate with. "I see what you mean. Members of royalty and wealthy families especially frown upon the showing of individuality. I guess we've gotten so used to living up to expectations, we despise the people who are free from it. However, I don't find you despicable or anything of the sort." Then, an interesting thought struck Vendela. Would I still be thinking that if he hadn't saved me? The thought scared her a little. Vendela had always thought of herself as a nice person. However, even nice people were swayed by social stigma and whatnot. Would she have found Lino annoying if they hadn't shared a moment of bonding?
Elli scratched Mao's ears while he talked with Lino. "You're welcome." He smiled his signature crooked smile, each white tooth glistening in the light. In harsh sunlight, Elli's smile could have the possibility of blinding someone. Although, he was too busy losing his temper to feel like smiling. No matter where he went, someone always managed to tick Elliot off. He then searched around in his pockets for about five minutes before he found the painting he was looking for. Elli had said he owned pictures of them, but it was really only one of all three of them together. He had more back at his manor. He pulled out a thin canvas that was about four inches by five inches. It was an oil painting of three cats, one pure black cat, one pure white cat, and one cat that was half-black and half-white. The three were all sleeping together. Elli held out the picture so Lino would see it. "When I was traveling abroad with my father many years ago, I found an artist who would be willing to paint my three cats. The black cat is Kcalb. He's really very sweet and loves cuddling. The white cat is Etihw. She loves eating and sleeping. The black and white cat is Dirbyh. She likes being by herself." The sparkle in Elli's eyes got brighter and brighter as he continued talking. The blush is his cheeks grew more profuse and pink. He looked as if he was fourteen years old again. Back then, he had been mostly happy and carefree, except when he snapped. ☆ ---------------------------- "I won't give up on us, ╔══════════════╗ Location: The Town of Euri Company: Lino and Mao OOC: Thank you for letting me know. ~ Lino Labelle ~ Lino laughed when Vendela told him to ask Elliot out on a date, "Ah, I have been around enough men to know a straight man when I see one." He whispered to her in a low voice so Elliot would not overhear. Though Lino did not think Elliot would even notice their conversation, he was too focused on Mao. "Maybe you should ask him out sometime," he said with a wink, "After all, he obviously cares very much about you." Lino grinned at her when she said that she did not find him despicable at all. "Thank you Vendela, though honestly I think there are many more free spirits out their, they are just harder to find within the crowd of the 'normal' people."
Lino finally let go of Vendela's hand when Elliot handed him the painting. He wanted to be extra careful not to drop it or damage it in any way, because it was so obvious that it was very precious to Elliot, so he held it with both hands. "They are very gorgeous cats. And probable spoiled at that!" he said laughing "I would have to say that Etihw is most like Mao. I got Mao a little after I go kicked out of my parents house. She has always been very laid back and lazy. Her favorite thing to do is act like a dead animal! She is always hanging around limp, like she is now. Though most of the time when I am walking around town she mainly just drapes herself over my shoulder and just lays there."
