So a few of my friends and I got in a huge debate after I asked who would win in an all out brawl; Thor from Marvel's Avengers, or Magneto, from DC's X-men. None of us could come up with a clear cut answer. I want to hear your opinions. Tell me who you think would win, and why you think they would win.

May the best character prevail!

I think Thor would win but not before getting a good run for his money from Magneto.

What Thor has in brawn Magneto has in mind.
Magneto would be able to think circles around Thor while Thor would be able to act on impulse and get in a few (if not deadly) hits in on Magneto.

It really depends on how things play out. Magneto could freeze Thor in his armor and win by controlling his movements.

But if Thor DIDN'T wear his armor he'd stand a fair chance. Moljinr is stone based (I think) so Magneto wouldn't be able to use it against him.

There is also the question of stamina. Thor is a young god so he has an unlimited supply of energy like the energizer bunny. (Or a kid with an infinite supply of sugar candy)
Magneto on the other hand is quite along in his years and would probably tire out quicker than Thor.

There are a lot of many different reasons and theories but in the end (despite my love for X-Men) I truly believe if ever pitted against one another Thor would win the battle.

According to what I read online, the DC comic specifies Moljinr as an Asgardian metal, which brought up another topic altogether. Being a metal of alien nature, does Magneto still have control over it? Does it conduct a current, or is something different altogether? If it does indeed conduct a current, I believe Magneto could have some effect on the hammer. Whether or not he could lift it is still in question. We know Graviton was able to prevent Thor from picking the hammer up with his abilities, but that was also not picking it up.

I might be a bit bias here, as Thor is my favorite superhero. But I believe in a battle he'd all out beat the crap outta Magneto. He doesn't have to only rely on his mighty hammer, but he also has the powers of the Gods on his side.

Hands down Thor > Magneto.
