I'm trying to make a crash bandicoot outfit but not quite sure how to make the orange fur.

You could always buy the fur and sew it into a Crash costume. I've seen orange fur on Amazon, or you could even just buy some white fur at Joanne's Fabric Store and dye it orange. :3
I did the Joanne's thing to make some tan kitty ears and a tail for Halloween one year, even used some of the leftover white as the inside of the ears! ^-^

You could ask the layering master, *Cough* Disney Sora. He's a good knack with ideas, he helped me figure out the layering for a Trainer Gold a while back.
