Yumi grew up with her older brother, just the two of them. Their parents disappeared when they were younger, leaving them for fend for themselves at a young age. During that time period, her older brother discovered that he was a weapon. With that, they both headed towards the DWMA so that he could train. While there, Yumi's brother had issues finding a partner due to the complicated wavelength he had leaving Yumi offering up to be his meister.
